Aurora POV
I looked at his eyes which were filled with disgust, contempt and unending coldness. I was used to this kind of feeling from him but something about them felt particularly different today.
He just came from the mate detection chamber and he requested my presence.
He looked at me from head to toe, dressed in maids clothing. I look down feeling uncomfortable by his stare.
"Beta Lewis, is there anything you would like for me to do?" I asked confused about my presence in his room that he has strictly prohibited any omega she-wolves from entering.
"Hahahaha," He suddenly burst into a hysterical laugh that sent shivers down my spine.
I kept quiet waiting for him to finish.
"The moon goddess must be kidding me, a useless omega for a mate," He said as his gaze turned sharp and his eyes pierce into me almost like he could see my soul.
I finally had a clue of what was going on, "Am I his mate?" I asked myself inwardly not daring to make those assumptions for fear of being punished.
The chances of an Omega who were at the bottom of the food chain in any werewolf pack being mated to a beta was something that has a very low possibility of happening.
Everyone knew that it was best to avoid Beta Lewis for he is strict and unsatisfiable, he is the second son of Alpha Derick of the moonlight pack. After his brother Beta Andrew left for the human world after discovering his mate was a human leaving Lewis next in line for the Alpha title.
"Creak" The bed made a creaking noise as he stood up from it heading towards me. His movements frightened me, making me move backwards till my back touched the wall with nowhere to run.
I was just 18 last week and I thought i was mateless since I didn't had the strange feeling everyone does when the find their mate.
"Mate!" I heard Lily my wolf said with a low voice.
"You have finally detected your mate, but why is he....." I pause fearing to admit the crazy reality in front of me.
I was mated to the cold demon king. "I look at his with shock and fear evident in my eyes. "No, anyone but him?" I thought looking at his eyes which contained no warmth a mate should have for each other.
"So you have found out?" He asked with a raised eyes brow.
"Of all people, why would I be paired with him. Been mateless was a better option,"
"Well it not gonna last long," He said again pulling me out from the wild thought that rampage in my head almost driving me insane.
"We are going to break the bond," He concluded with a sharp tone.
"What?" I said asked softly but it seemed to annoy him. "Are you deaf? Why would I pick you as my Luna? You are nothing but an Omega not fit for the title, listen to me, we are breaking the bond," He roared at me making every detail clear.
I felt a sting in my heart, though this isn't my first time of getting rejected or told I am not worthy, but hearing it from my mate an imaginary person I have always pictured in my head, someone who I have grown to love and see as a perfect man who would be like my prince in shiny armour coming to rescue me in trouble but reality have betrayed me and fate has forsaken me.
"I Beta Lewis King...Reject you....Aurora Cole as my Mate and fated bride," He said forcing the words out of his mouth with pains evident in his eyes, his beautiful green eyes turned red for a moment. He closed his eyes grinding his teeth while digging his hands into the walls trying to bear the pains.
Soon his eyes returned back to normal, he looked at me waiting for me to start my part of the oath.
With tears falking from my eyes I said, "I, Aurora Cole accept the rejection."
As I finished the words, I felt a burning sensation in my heart almost as if it is on fire, my knees felt weak and fell on the floor clutching my chest. I wasn't as strong as him, breaking the bond destined by the moon goddess is the same as challenging her and after every bond break a divine punishment is sent.
My petite figure lay on the ground with tears falling from my eyes. He look as me with no remorse or pity in his eyes almost as if I was nothing but a trash to him.
"Lewis," I heard a familiar female voice call causing him to peel his gaze away from me.
Kayla his girlfriend entered the room.
"What happening here?" Kayla asked as she entered the room with a confused gaze. She is dressed in a white shirt which wrap around her elegant and curvy figure, short skimpy skirts, wearing high heels which she always like to wear apart from practice. In short she was a high class beauty and the daughter of beta Lincoln.
Lewis eyes soften upon seeing her, "Kayla, nothing much is going on here," Lewis said stepping away from Aurora.
"I rushed here immediately I heard you were back from the mate detection chamber. So, who is it?" She asked with a smile forgetting my existence in the room.
Lewis paused making Kayla anxious, she walked closer to him wrapping her arms on his neck. "Talk to me baby," She said urging him to speak up.
"It was her," Lewis said pointing at Aurora on the floor.
"What?" Kayla asked with a sharp tone as she looked at me with killer look.
As an omega who had low status in the pack I had no right to speak, I looked away trying to hide the burning tears.
"It okay baby, I have already broke the bond," Lewis quickly said sensing her anger.
"Oh you did, that great then. Are you hurt from the backlash of the divine punishment?" Kayla asked with a concerned look.
"I'm okay, let head out," Lewis said.
"Okay," Kayla said as they left me alone in the room.
"No it should be me," I said inwardly as I wiped my tears with the back of my hands.
Though I have no feelings for him it hurts seeing your mate been stolen from you.
"Maybe… Just maybe if I wasn't a weak omega. We might have worked," I thought.
"Our mate...hate us," I heard Lily said with a pained voice.
"Yes… he does," I replied with a bitter smile
