Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Battle For The Orb

Billy and King Morphine made their way through the winding corridors of the secret museum, their steps echoing in the stone halls. They approached a massive vault door at the center, which was engraved with symbols that only the royal family could comprehend. King Morphine placed his hand on the ancient door, and it groaned open, revealing the chamber that held the legendary Dark Orb.

The orb rested in a transparent glass box, faintly glowing with an eerie purple hue.

"Thank goodness it's not that active, but it's awake," King Morphine muttered, his eyes narrowing at the orb.

"What brought it to life, Dad?" Billy asked, his voice tinged with concern.

"It must have fed on the negativities within my family, Elara's dark ambitions," the king replied, his voice grim. "The tension, the hatred... it's all connected."

"How do we shut it down?" Billy asked, his voice urgent.

The king paused for a moment, then glanced around, his brow furrowing. "I could use my lightning staff, but..." His face went pale. "I forgot my lightning staff."

Before Billy could respond, they both heard a slow, mocking clap from behind them. They turned around to see Kai, his body covered in shadows. As the shadows dissipated, a wicked smile spread across his face.

"Did you not close the door?" King Morphine asked, his voice icy with accusation.

"I did," Billy replied, his anger rising. "How did you get in?"

Kai chuckled darkly. "I can teleport."

Kai began to step toward them slowly, raising his arms in a calm, menacing manner.

"I mean no harm," Kai said, his tone smooth but filled with mockery. "You're all mad. Why shut down something that can help you, that can give you power against your enemies?"

"Kai, this thing is dangerous. It's going to corrupt your mind," Billy retorted, stepping forward.

"No, you're wrong. It will make me a better king, bro," Kai responded, his eyes gleaming with ambition.

"What is it with you and the throne? Don't you have anything else to think about?" King Morphine, their father, stepped forward, his voice laced with frustration.

"You've always been busy with the king business, Dad. You never noticed me, nor asked about my firstborn desires. And now..." Kai summoned a long, dark sword, and began walking toward them. "Step aside. You are the obstacle to achieving my wildest dreams."

King Morphine stretched out his right hand, calling for his magical weapon. But it was clear it would take time before it arrived. Kai, sensing the delay, charged at them. Billy balled his hands into fists and charged as well. The two clashed amid a cloud of smoke. In the clarity of the moment, Billy found himself holding Kai's arms. Kai groaned, and with a burst of incredible strength, Billy pushed him to the side, slamming him against the wall.

King Morphine, watching the clash, turned his attention to the Dark Orb above them. It was faintly glowing, almost pulsing with an ominous energy.

Kai slowly rose and charged at Billy again. Billy readied himself, only to watch Kai vanish in a blur. Billy quickly turned around, but before he could react, Kai knocked him to the ground. On top of him, Kai raised his dark blade and attacked, but Billy swiftly ducked and avoided the strike. They struggled in strength, Billy's eyes glowing blue with power.

"No, no, no," Kai gasped, trying to overpower Billy. But with a sudden surge of strength, Billy used his head to knock Kai off, sending him crashing to the floor. As Billy rose swiftly, he glared at his brother.

"Awe, that was painful, brother. Time for plan B," Kai taunted, raising his arms high.

"Watch out, Billy!" his dad shouted.

Dark tendrils suddenly erupted from the ground, wrapping around Billy's arms and legs. He struggled to break free, but the tendrils held him fast, rendering him immobile. King Morphine charged at Kai, but before he could reach him, Kai vanished again, only to appear behind him. He strangled the king, summoning a long knife in his free hand.

"Any last words, Daddy?" Kai hissed, his voice dripping with malice as the tendrils wrapped tighter around King Morphine.

"KAII!" Billy shouted, his heart pounding. Before Kai could strike, a bolt of blue lightning struck him, knocking him to the ground. The shadow tendrils faded, freeing both Billy and his father.

The king's staff floated back to him, and he regained his composure. They both approached the unconscious Kai, who was now lying motionless on the floor.

"What do we do with him?" Billy asked, his voice tense.

"Leave him for now," King Morphine said. "Let's shut down the orb before it influences his thoughts any further."

They turned toward the orb. The faint glow had now intensified, pulsing with a deep purple hue. King Morphine gasped, and his staff conjured a blue flame.

"We better hurry," Billy said, his eyes focused on the orb.

Suddenly, a voice rang out from behind them. "STOP IT!"

Billy turned, his blood running cold, as a dark lightning bolt struck him. The force sent him flying across the room, crashing through several objects before slamming into the stone walls. Dust filled the air.

King Morphine stopped and turned to face his second wife, Elara, who stood in the doorway, holding a lightning staff similar to his.

"Stop this madness, Elara," the king demanded.

"How do I stop when I'm this close?" she answered, her voice laced with cold determination. Her staff, similar to the king's, crackled with dark energy.

"Then I will stop you myself!" King Morphine shouted, sending a surge of electricity through his staff. Elara responded with an equally powerful dark electric blast. The two forces collided in a clash of black and blue, each side fighting for dominance. For a moment, neither gave way.

Then, Elara summoned a massive dark hammer, which flew toward King Morphine. Billy reacted instantly. With a burst of speed, he leaped into the air, his fist glowing with powerful energy. He collided with the hammer in midair, shattering it with a single fist of fury. The force of his strike sent a shockwave through the room, and both King Morphine and Elara stopped their attacks.

Billy landed gracefully, floating down heroically, and stood beside his father.

"Wow. So impressive," Elara said, her tone mocking, as though she were a child admiring a superhero. "You don't want us having such power too?" she said, walking toward them without fear.

"You are out of your mind," King Morphine said, his voice filled with anger.

"And so what?" Elara retorted, slamming her weapon onto the ground. The impact sent a powerful blast of energy rippling through the room, knocking everything in its path. Dust and debris filled the air as Elara's eyes locked onto the purple glowing orb.

She reached for it and smiled wickedly.

"Hello there?" she whispered, her voice thick with malevolent intent. The earth trembled in response.
