A tall angry looking man sits outside of a big old house watching the snowfall smoking a cigarette. He pulls his phone out from pocket. He dials a number and puts the phone to his ear.
"Yeah, it's me. Yeah, yeah, ten boys and six girls. I'll have the girl ready for pick up tomorrow. I'll raise the boys, yeah i'll keep you posted"
He puts the phone down and puts it back in his pocket as he throws his cigarette into the snow. He walks into the house and into a room full of newborns being tended to by nurses.
"Get the girls cleaned up and returned to the mothers, make sure to tell them that they will be leaving tomorrow so make sure they pack. They will be gone by ten tomorrow morning"
The man says as he starts to walk out of the room.
"S-sir what about the boys? Do you want us to return them to their mothers as well?"
"Yeah sure i don't care, watch over them all. I'll be back tomorrow morning right before the pick up"
The man replied as he finally closed the door. He walks down the hall and walks into a room and slams the door behind him. The loud noise caused all the babies to start to cry.
FIVE YEARS PASSED
A young boy is running around a yard, playing with all the other kids when a woman starts to call for him
"Arthur! Arthur! It's time to eat Arthur!"
'Ah mom is calling me"
The young boy said as he dropped the ball in his hand and ran to his mother
"Ah there you are Arthur"
The woman said as she picked him up into her arms
"I know you're hungry, let's get you a snack. Doesn't that sound good?"
The woman turned to walk into the house but stopped to wave to the other moms sitting outside watching their kids play. They all smiled and waved. As Arthur and his mother went into the house the other woman's face turned sour in disguise.
The woman sits Arthur down in a chair
"Now you stay right here, I'm gonna find you something to snack on okay?"
Arthur nods as his mother starts to dig through the cabinets. He started to look around the house. The huge living room was filled with toys of all different shapes and sizes. He climbed down from his chair and walked into the living room and started to play with the toys.
The front door opened and a man walked in and looked at Arthur playing
"What are you doing inside? Didn't I say it's outside time?"Â
Arthur springs to his feet and turns to face the man
"D-dad i came in for a snack with m-"
The man grabs Arthurs arm before he could finish
"DId i say you can have a snack? No I didn't and didn't I tell you to call me Sir? Your just all fucked up today arent you?"
He slaps Arthur and pushes him to the ground
"Why can't you just listen and do what you're told huh? Why out of everyone do you feel like you have to be different? Nobody else is in here getting a snack or playing inside."
Arthur starts to cry and tries to run to his mom who is still in the kitchen but the man grabs his arm and throws him back on the ground.
"Don't you run away from me when I'm talking to you, you little shit. Just for that you're going to the time out room."
Arthur eyes widen at the mention of the time out room. He tries to fight back but is powerless to do anything. His mother walks out of the kitchen as the man carries Arthur down the hall.
"MOMMY HELP!"
She reaches her hand out
"Im sorry baby"
Arthur continues to try to fight as his father brings him to the basement and throws him into a small concrete room with nothing. Arthur runs to the door but it's shut in his face. He started to bang on the door.
"PLEASE LET ME OUT. MOMMY HELP ME"
But nothing but silence. He screams and cries as he bangs on the door. No answer back to his plea, nothing but the echo of his own screams can be heard.
Minutes pass, then hours, then a day passes. All out of tiers and hands in pain Arthur did nothing but lay there. The door opens and Arthur jumps to his feet to see his mother on the other side. He hugs her tightly.
"I'm so sorry baby. I wanted to help but it only would have ended badly for both of us. I hope you forgive me"
"Of course i forgive you mommy"
His mother pulls away from the hug
"Here I brought you some food, Eat it quickly. Your father wants you outside and it's best if we don't upset him again"
Arthur grabs the food and practically inhales it. His mother escorts him outside where all the kids are sitting down in front of there FatherÂ
"There you are, Arthur sit down quickly so we can start"
His Father said as he pointed to a spot on the ground. Arthur ran and sat in the spot his father pointed out.
"Okay now that i have all of you here. As you know when a child gets close to the age of six their magic starts to develop, You all are close to that age. As you all are my kids it is my job to make sure you're trained in whatever type of magic you get. With that being said if you start to feel your body changing tell your mother and they will tell me. Is that clear? I want to know the second you start to feel your body changing. It will be painful so if you feel pain in your chest come find me, is that clear?"
"Yes sir"
All the kids replied
"Good. Now I enjoy playing outside. Fall will start soon and hopefully your powers come once you guys get your magic there won't be time to play. So have fun why you still can.
The Father put on some fake smile in front of the kids then walked into the house. All the mothers sat on the benches and talked as the kids got up and started to play.
Weeks started to pass and kids started to disappear. They would grab their chest and by the next day they were gone, Nowhere to be found. The leaves started to fall and the wind got colder and by the time the first bit of snow came down only three kids were left.
Arthur sat at a table with whatever was left of his family eating dinner. When one of the kids dropped his fork and turn to look at his mother
"Mom, My-my chest it-'
His mom jumped up and pick him up as the father ran into the roomÂ
"You two with me quickly"
Arthur looked at his father as he led the mother and child into the room. The father walk the the table
"Do any of you feel any pain in your chest? No, okay, good."
Arthur stands up
"What's going to happen to them? Everyone who had that pain in their chest has disappeared and I'm starting to get scared."
"Don't worry about them. Your job is to worry about yourself."
"But there my brothers and im worried about them"
The Father stomps over to Arthur in anger, he pushes him to the floor.
"I said to stop worrying about them, what part of that don't you understand? Why is it always you? Why can't you just listen to what i tell you"
The kid screams in pain from the other room
"I don't have time for this. Your ass is going into the time out room"
The Father said as he grabbed Arthurs arm and pulled him to his feet and took him into the basement. This time Arthur didn't cry but he fought the whole time. Even landing a few punches into his fathers face, angering his day.
His father throw him down the basement steps
"Listen hear you little fuck im so tired of you. If it was up to me I would kill you now."
Arthur wimps in pain and tries to crawl aways but is pulled to the time out room and is flong inside.
"I will make sure you suffer in this room. You will learn to be obedient and listen when I tell you something."
The door is slammed and Arthur tries to stand but the pain sends him back down onto his stomach. He forces himself up and slams the side of his body on the door Multiple times.
"I hate you, i hate you, i hate you"
Arthur repeated every time he slammed into the door. He slammed into the door and fell into his knees when a deep pain was felt in his chest.
"Oh no it can't be right now. FATHER MY CHES-"Â
The pain started to spread around his body. It was like his body was ripping itself apart, even his skin felt like it felt like he was set on fire. His eyes felt like someone was digging their fingers inside them.
His screams, his cries, his pleas, everything was heard by nobody but himself. He was gonna suffer in that room as his father intended.
