Chapter 2 - Chapter 2:

Emilia

Just while he was speaking with me, he was interrupted by the sound of the door being banged open by my brother and he paused talking.

The door swings open and my brother screeches at me "Emilia, what are you doing in my office?" He turns to the crimson-eyed man. "I am so sorry that my sister is bothering you, Alpha Anker."

Crap, it's him.

Immediately after my brother said that, he stretch his hand to hit me. I close my eyes, bracing myself, ready to feel the burn.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Alpha Anker's voice mumbles through the room.

Peeking through slits, I see Alpha Anker has risen to his feet, coiling his hand around my brother's wrist.

Alpha Anker was taller than my brother and more muscly as well. "Emilia," My name rolls off of his tongue' " was kindly showing me to your office, Alpha Jesse, as you failed to meet me at the front of your house as I requested. I was lucky someone was present, at least someone who understands the deal."

What? What deal could he possibly be talking about? I have no idea what he is talking about. He has no reason to lie for me.

My brother hlares at me, clenching his jaw tight. I knew I was going to pay for this later. I would have to try and steal as much food as possible.

"Go and get Beta Clarke," Alpha Clarke seethes. "Tell him that our guest is here."

Innod and hurry from the room. The last I wanted was to be caught between bickering men.

"Beta Clarke," I whisper as I enter the living room. He instantly glares at me with his dark eyes. I had spoken without being spoken to. "Alpha Anker is with Alpha Jesse in the office, I was sent to inform you." He slams the magazine he had in his hands down on the table and glares at me as he walks by. "You are lucky that the alpha sent you to get me, otherwise, you wouldn't be seeing the sunlight for a few days."

Pausing behind me, he yanks my head back, locking his fingers iny hair. Leaning in close, I feel his hot breath on my skin. He doesn't say anything, it was just his way of proving he could do anything he wants when he wants.

I began to ponder on what to do to stay away from the office as far as possible, so I came up with the idea of keeping myself really busy so as to avoid going to the office, or at least being far away from the office. My peace doesn't last long when I hear my brother calling out to me.

I madey way towards the office and plaster a smile on my face as I open the door, quietly.

"Emilia, go get the wine, I mean the champagne and some glasses, We are celebrating"

I bow my head and hurry to the drink cabinet. Quickly finding exactly what my brother had asked for. As I re-enter the office, I can feel Alpha Clarke watching my every move, even the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. No one has ever watched me this close.

Approaching the small table next to Alpha Clarke's chair, I start filling the glasses. He immed takes the champagne bottle from me, telling me he is more than capable of pouring his glass.

Not really from embarrassment, but I feel my cheeks flame, but because I knew I would be punished for this later. I should have been quicker, I should have filled the glasses before entering the office, I should have…, my brain trailed off when I saw my brother glaring at me.

"Emilia is your sister right?" Alpha Anker asked my brother.

"She is," Alpha Jesse replied with disgust. He looks away from me and focuses on asking questions.

"Why is it you find pleasure in treati her like she doesn't worth some baby girl treatment? Why do you treat her like shit?" Straight to the point, my brother wouldn't like that. He only likes sharing information on his terms.

No one has ever spoken to my brother about his maltreatment of me, because everyone took great joy in beating me. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't move, but I knew I had to get out of there. If this deal goes to pot because of me, then that would be my fault.

"Hmmm, she was responsible for the demise of my only brother." Alpha Jesse spits.

I closed my eyes, battling back the tears that were threatening to break free.

"Responsible, how?" Alpha Anker rumbles through me. He was definitely angry.

"He serves him Wolfsbane."

Stay calm, stay calm. Don't make any move. Don't make a sound

I knew Alpha Anker was actually studying me. They all did. I knew no one could quite believe how someone could do something so disgusting as poisoning their own brother. I stood there with my head hanging low, wishing for the earth to open up and suck me in.

There are movements around me. He was standing directly in front of me. With a rough finger, he tilts my face up towards his, forcing me to look at him. Slowly, his hands latches onto my throat, but he doesn't squeeze. "You poisoned your own brother?"

"I was four," I spluttered. " I just made lemonade." My voice comes out all squeaky as I try to defend myself. I could barely remember my brother, but I could remember all the guilt I had been made to feel since that day.

His crimson eyes flash to my brothers. Hardly seems fair to a four-year-old."

"A four-year-old should actually know the difference between plants." Alpha Jesse snaps.

"Hmm, that sounds to me like she was set up." Alpha Anker shrugs his shoulders, letting go of my throat. "We all know that standard Wolfsbane doesn't affect us anymore. We evolved from that shit centuries ago."

"What, what does he mean by Wolfsbane wasn't lethal? It had been chorused and almost like and almost like a poem into me since I could walk.

"Which only leaves the blood of Wolfsbane." Alpha Anker muttered.

"You actually were not there, Alpha Anker." My brother muttered through gritted teeth as his eyes narrowed to slits. "It was Wolfsbane."

He nods his head. "You're right, I was not there."
