Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: When Paths Cross

**Sebastian's POV**

I arrived at the university, heading straight through the gate as the guard on duty gave me a look.

There were only a few students outside. We had an exam today, and I was already late.

I went directly to the exam room and entered, even though the test had already started.

"Mr. Grayson, you're late," the proctor remarked.

"It's better to be late than not to attend," I replied, grabbing a test paper from her desk and heading to the seat at the very back.

My eyes caught a familiar face.

I smirked as I reached my chair.

I stared at her back for a few seconds before a mischievous idea crossed my mind.

I kicked the underside of her chair to get her attention. But she didn't even bother to look back, so I didn't stop until I kicked harder.

She turned around and gave me a sharp glare.

"Can I borrow a pen?"

"I don't have a spare!" she quickly replied and returned her focus to her test paper.

I pulled my chair closer to hers and placed my hand on her waist, which startled her and made her stand abruptly.

"Miss Alvarez, are you done?" the proctor asked sternly.

"Y-Yes," she stammered.

"Then pass your paper and leave!"

She grabbed her paper, slammed her pen onto my desk in frustration, and walked to the front.

I grinned as I watched her leave.

---

"You almost didn't take the exam," Alex said.

We were now hanging out in an empty classroom. I was sitting on a chair, twirling a pen between my fingers.

"I need high grades," I replied simply.

"She's not your type, and she's out of your league. Her clients are all big shots," I overheard some guys talking outside the room.

"And she doesn't hang out with people her age. Her type prefers older men."

"Older men love girls like her—young, beautiful, flawless, sexy, and fresh. F*ck! If I ever get to sleep with her, I'll make sure she won't be able to walk for days," one of them added.

"Everyone's talking about that girl," Nathan exclaimed.

"You can't blame them. She's so hot—simple yet alluring," Alex said.

"I can't blame you either if you like her," Nathan teased, giving Alex a playful punch.

"Idiot! I'm not interested in her," Alex laughed.

From their conversation, I already knew who they were talking about.

If I didn't pay attention to her before, she's definitely caught my interest now.

I stood up from my seat.

"Where are you going?" Alex asked.

"To play," I said with a playful smile.

I left the room, pocketing the pen I was holding, and started walking.

A smirk formed on my lips when I saw her. How amusing—fate keeps bringing us together.

I followed her wherever she was headed. She entered the library and swapped places with the librarian. I went inside too and sat at the farthest corner, where I could see her every move.

There weren't many students in the library since exams were almost over.

I watched her every movement. They were right—she's beautiful and has an aura that could captivate any man.

I leaned back on my chair, still holding the pen in my pocket, as I kept my eyes on her.

Even her simplest gestures could draw attention.

She sat there reading a book, occasionally glancing up every ten seconds.

I stayed seated, watching her, until most people in the library had left. She stood up, started tidying the books on the tables, and returned them to their proper places.

I got up and walked toward her. She didn't notice me as her attention was on the book she was holding.

I grabbed her waist, startling her and causing her to drop the books she was holding.

I covered her mouth with my hand in case she screamed.

"Shhh..."

I sniffed her natural scent. She smelled so good it aroused me.

I turned her to face me and pinned her against the bookshelf. Shock was written all over her face when she saw me.

"The library is one of the most boring places in this school, but I know a game to make it exciting," I whispered.

I brushed a strand of hair from her face with one hand while keeping my other hand over her mouth.

She tried to escape, but I pushed her back.

"Shhh... don't make a sound unless you want someone to see us here," I said with a grin.

She suddenly bit my hand.

"F*ck!"

"What's wrong with you?!" she exclaimed as I grabbed her hand to stop her from leaving.

I pulled her back to me, holding her tightly until our bodies were pressed together.

"Let me go!" she yelled, stomping on my foot and pushing me away.

She glared at me, as if killing me in her mind.

"I just want to play," I said teasingly.

"Find someone else to play with," she snapped.

I smiled and approached her again. "But you're the one I want to play with."

She gave me a death glare before walking away.

"I'll pay you if that's what you want," I said with a smirk.

She stopped and turned to face me. She stared at me before I walked closer to her.

"I don't need your money," she said softly but with anger in her voice.

"You're too coy for someone who's just a paid—"

Before I could finish, she slapped me hard across the face. I held my cheek, rubbing it as I stared at her.

This was the second time she had slapped me.

As she was about to leave, I grabbed her hand and kissed her lips. She pushed me away and grabbed a book from the shelf, hitting me with it. I blocked it with my arm, but that was a mistake—it hit my wounded arm.

"Pervert!"

"Jerk!"

"F*ck!" I shouted, making her stop hitting me.

"Dammit!" I hissed as my wound started bleeding.

I looked at her, and she froze, her expression changing to one of guilt.

---

Now I'm sitting in the clinic while she's treating my wound.

I grabbed the ID hanging around her neck and read her name. She quickly slapped my hand away.

"Jasmin Selene. What a beautiful name," I said.

She didn't respond or even look at me, focusing instead on cleaning my wound with betadine.

I studied her face. She was even more beautiful up close. My eyes drifted to her red lips—I wanted to taste them again.

"You're too kind to treat my wound, even though I tried to harass you," I said.

She paused and glanced at me. She had hazel-brown eyes.

"Twice," she corrected.

I frowned.

"You harassed me twice!" she clarified.

A smile formed on my lips. "The first time was unintentional; the second time was deliberate," I said proudly.

She gave me a deadly glare, which I found oddly captivating.

"I'm not surprised, given your reputation around campus," she said while putting a bandage on my wound.

"And everyone knows your reputation, too," I replied, staring at her.

She froze for a second but didn't say anything, keeping her head down.

"Done," she said, standing up and packing away the medical supplies.

She grabbed her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and hurried out of the clinic.
