Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Unsettling Encounter

**Sebastian's POV**

"She must have gotten home by now, right?" I whispered to myself.

I just arrived here at our hangout spot, and I can't sit still because of that woman.

Since I left her by the side of the road, I haven't been able to calm down, constantly thinking if she made it home or if she's still walking.

The way she looked earlier, it seemed like she wouldn't be able to make it home on foot.

Tsk! When did you start having a conscience, Sebastian?

"Hey, dude... are you okay? You seem deep in thought," Nathan said, looking at me. I just shook my head.

Why am I still thinking about her? I offered her a ride, but she turned me down, so it's her problem now.

I closed my eyes... but damn, that pitiful face of hers keeps haunting me.

I opened my eyes and stood up.

"Alex, can I borrow your car?"

"Goin' somewhere?" he asked, handing me the keys.

I took them. "I just need to check something."

He nodded and went back to his game on his phone.

I left our hangout and headed for Alex's parked car. I drove quickly toward the area where I left Jasmin.

A few minutes later, I arrived. I slowed down as I scanned the area, looking for Jasmin.

I parked the car by the side of the road when I spotted her. I got out and crossed to the other side of the street to approach her. She was sitting with her head down, resting on her knees.

"Can you believe it? You've walked this far even with your short skirt," I joked.

She slowly lifted her head and looked at me. Her tired face greeted me.

"Why are you still here?" she asked in a weak, tired voice.

"I came back for... uh, something I left behind," I replied.

She didn't say anything and stood up immediately. She almost lost her balance, but I quickly grabbed her arm.

"Let's go. Get in, I'll give you a ride."

"I don't want to ride with you, you're such a creep."

"Tsk! What I meant was, I'll take you home. Not what you're thinking... but you can also ride with me, and I'll make sure we both get to heaven."

"If you want to get to heaven, don't drag me into it," she snapped.

"Come on," I said, grabbing her hand, but she immediately pulled it away.

"I don't want to ride your motorcycle," she refused.

"I have a car," I said, pointing to the car across the street.

"Is that yours?" she asked, eyeing it with doubt.

"No, I stole it. What's it gonna be? Are you walking home or riding with me?" My patience was running thin. Why did I even think of going back for her!?

"I'll ride with you... but did you really steal that?" she asked.

I looked at her in disbelief. "Do I look like a thief?" I said as I walked toward the car.

She followed me, muttering something under her breath.

I was about to get in when I stopped and looked at Jasmin, who had gotten into the backseat. "Are you planning to make me your driver?"

"Who else is gonna drive? Me or you?"

"Me."

"Then what do you call that? A driver, right?"

I got in the car, slamming the door, and quickly started the engine.
