Liam's POV
I ordered salad, again. I saw her face scrunch up in disapproval but I just wanted to enjoy my meal.
When we finished eating, I turned on the ignition. My woman looked brighter and better. Turns out half of her problems was hunger. I saw her pick up her phone and got on emails.
"What are you doing?" i leaned in and saw exactly what she was doing and it kind of pissed me off.
"Replying to official work emails, that's what. Why? Wanna help me? I should've gotten a virtual assistant sooner, ugh."
She sank into her seat in frustration.
I couldn't believe her. I shook my head, then snatched the phone from her hand and switched it off. I then slid it inside my jeans. She shot me a disapproving glare and looked at me, dumbfounded.
"Why did you do that?" Her voice was laced in spite, like she was ready to jump me.
"Do what?" I pretended not to understand what she was talking about.
"Don't play dumb with me! Why did you take my phone from me?"
Watching her get angry could probably be one of my best hobbies. The way her voice rose, her furrowed brows that lit up my world, and her flushed face kept me on my toes.
"We're out to have fun and clear our heads. Don't worry about work. I'll hand over your phone to you when we're done."
"You can't be serious. When did you suddenly become my boss and get to boss me around?"
"We made a deal. Relax and stop being cute." I said with a smirk, she caught it and looked away but I watched her cheeks stain rain. She blushed.
"Quit calling me cute. I hate it." Such a hot pretender. Now I was a bit hard.
"But you are." I reminded her.
"Liam.." warning hung in her voice as she glared at me. I decided to let it go. I couldn't afford trying to have fun with a pissed off woman.
She folded her arms and looked out the window, and from time to time her little grumbles were like music to my ears.
At this point, we had driven for like forty five minutes.
"Where are we even going? Are you trying to kidnap me?" She sounded tired, and it amused me even more. Well, she was in luck, because we finally arrived at where I planned to take her to. It's like a barn, with lots of cowboys and hats, elderly men who didn't have a care in the world and lots of fascinating drinks.
"We're here!" Her senses heightened as she frsisdd herself to sit upright. Then she looked outside the window.
"Where?"
"Here. Come on let's go." I pointed at the barn, Incase she was confused.
She first of all looked at me like I was crazy, then looked out to see the barn, then looked at me again. She couldn't understand it.
"Why would you bring me here?" For some reason, she was actually bothered. I guess it wasn't what she was expecting.
"It would be fun, trust me and these guys don't even know who we sre. Well just chill like a couple, I mean partners."
"You're unbelievable. If I don't have a good time, I'll beat you up."
"I'd like to see you try, tigress." My voice was unusually husky and believe me when I say it wasn't my intention. She swallowed as she stared at me momentarily, and when my gaze unconsciously dropped to her lips, she literally ran out the door.
She clung to my side like someone that had been sheltered all her life. Well, good for her. My life wasn't always like this and I had seen the worst of things to know a place like this. I usually came here whenever I was stressed over the years.
"How do you even know a place like this?"
For once, she looked fascinated as we walked into the dimly lit barn. Her attention was literally fixed on multiple things at once. Her eyes twinkled in amazement.
Tons of hays were stacked and gave the barn an interesting smell, one coupled with the cheap drinks. I was pretty sure the animals were around us, but we didn't come here for that.
"Networking?"
"Yeah, right. Well, what are we to do here anyway?" The live music seemed to be getting into her blood stream. Her steady faint nod to the beat intrigued me.
"We'll get drinks." I then enveloped my hands in hers, a gesture that startled her momentarily before she relaxed and followed me.
We got to the counter where a young girl was taking orders.
"What can I get you?" Good. I was worried she would properly recognize her, but her southern accent and the way her body movement didn't change one bit told me everything I needed to know.
"Fire water, she'll have a Texas tea."
What's Texas water? She asked when we took seats and waited for our order.
"You'll see."
"I better not hate it."
I simply nodded my head and we watched as the cowboys whiled away time here. When the waitress came, she was pretty much absent minded, looking ahead. If I had known places like this would interest her, even though she was acting like it's not, I would've brought her here sooner.
"Have your coffee." She took it, then looked down at it and frowned.
"What?" My puzzled face mirrored hers.
She raised her head to look into my cup but it was a bit dark so she couldn't see it properly.
"What's in yours? You seriously didn't order us coffee, did you?" she sounded awfully pissed.
"No, mine is alcohol. I didn't know you would want one." Her face squeezed so hard I felt the betrayal practically slap my face.
Before I even knew what was happened, she snatched my drink from me and aggressively pushed hers towards me.
"Well I want the alcohol, so enjoy your coffee." I grinned at her sass.
Why did she have to be so sexy? I watched her chug the alcohol down her throat as if she was trying to spite me and also knew when the alcohol kissed her throat. I imagine my hands wrapped around her throat almost everyday. I was so hopeless as I stared at this woman.
