Eudora
Before the start of the next class, Professor Solace takes me aside. "I reached out to an old friend in the witch community, and she thinks she can divine your magic if she had some of your blood. I trust this witch completely, or else I wouldn't even suggest it. Would you be willing to let me send her some of your blood?"
I ponder over the request, but ultimately decide that giving a strange witch a little bit of blood, was worth it if I got some answers. "Yes, let's do it."
After Professor Solace has extracted some blood, she starts the magic lesson for the day.
Today I get assigned to work with Ryland and Bennett's group. Their magic training turns out to be just fighting. They train in an empty room that is attached to the main classroom. I sit and watch a few of their matches from the sidelines. The first match is won by Ryland when he uses his speed to run on the wall and escape from Bennett's earth attack. Ryland managed to get behind Bennett and take him out with a fake chop to the neck and declaring 'Death blow'.
In the next battle, Bennett prevents Ryland from getting to him by cocooning himself in rock. Ryland tries to get to Bennett, but he can't. Eventually Ryland stops moving at super speed and Bennett is able to trap him underground.
The door to the practice room opens, and Professor Solace peeks inside. "I think you've gotten everything you're going to get out of watching them fight. It's time for everyone to return to the circle."
Ryland and Bennett grab their waters and wipe off their sweat with some towels.
We all reenter the main room to find the other students are already sitting on their stools in a circle.
"So I heard this whole class has been going to the library together for a few weeks now to find ways to figure out Eudora and Charlotte's magic, and to research ways to improve magical abilities." She turns around making sure to look at every student. "This is great. Working together for the betterment of everyone is what I like to see. I have done some research as well and I pulled some books you might find useful from my personal collection."
Professor Solace waves her staff and books fly off of the shelves landing in everyone's laps.
"Feel free to take these home to read, just be sure to bring them back undamaged. These are rare and difficult to replace." The old lady scowls at the thought of her precious books being damaged. "You may use the rest of class time as a group study, and discussion." With that Professor Solace takes her place on an empty stool in the circle.
I flip through the book in my lap. It is all about the obscure magical history of magical abilities appearing in shifters.
Ryland lens close to me and looks at the book in my hand.
"I didn't know history was part of this class's curriculum?" He whispers to me.
I wave him off. "If this is what Professor Solace thinks will help me, then I am going to read the whole thing."
"I think what would help you is trying new things. I could give you some new experiences later." Ryland tells me suggestively.
"I know you're not being serious. When we were alone on our date, you had the opportunity to make a move and didn't."
"I promised to give you a good experience. I wasn't going to stick my hand down your pants. Unless… you wanted me to stick my hand down your pants?" Ryland whispers in my ear. I blush and look up to see Aren watching us from across the circle. I pull away from Ryland and divert the conversation.
"So how did you figure out what your magical ability was?" I ask him.
Ryland straightens in his seat and takes a long sip of water. "Nothing too exciting. I was on a run with a hot chick, and then suddenly I was way ahead of her. I had to run back to find her, and it turned out that in 30 seconds, I had run 10 miles. The feeling of my magic activating was thrilling. I still get a thrill every time I access it. Having to cover up my magical development from the girl was not so thrilling. In order to keep my magic a secret, my dad had to call in a mind eraser to make her forget. Problem is, she forgot me completely, so all that time I spent flirting with her was wasted. I never got to take her to bed."
"What does using your magic feel like?"
"It feels like I'm glowing. I feel like I can do anything. I feel energized and my body feels light. I'm not describing it very well."
"What about you Bennett?" I ask, turning to Bennett, who is seated on my other side.
"It's similar for me as well. When I touch the earth I feel a connection to it. I didn't know I had a magical ability until I got put into this magic class my 1st year. I had to figure it out like you are Charlotte." He looks from me to Charlotte, who is listening intently to our conversation.
"How did you manage that?"
"Like I said I always felt a connection to the earth, and Professor Solace informed me that my magic was environmental. I started exploring different types of elemental magic that had to do with the earth. Eventually, I tried heightening that feeling of connection I felt and I was able to sense where people were through the ground. I worked hard last year and was able to strengthen that connection until I could move the earth like it was water."
"That's a good example of someone purposefully looking into what their magical ability is." I look up to find that the whole class is listening to my conversation with Bennett. "Eudora or Charlotte, in the past few weeks have either of you felt a connection to something, or a glowing feeling?"
"No." I say frowning.
"Actually, whenever I write I feel a little weird. Like my writings could hold power."
"Let's experiment with that. Aren, would you be a dear and grab a table, some paper and some pens?" Aren jumps up and grabs the supplies, placing the table in front of Charlotte, along with the pens and paper. "Try writing the word brick and focus on that feeling of power when you do it." Charlotte writes the word brick and nothing happens. "Try again but this time when you focus on the power, visualize a brick."
Charlotte writes the word again, but this time something happens. The word she wrote lifts off of the page and then turns into a brick. I gasp. The whole room is silent for a beat and then everyone bursts out in applause.
"Excellent!" Professor Solace says. "It looks like your special ability is script magic. People with similar abilities have been able to use that magic to create buildings with a single sentence and write in secret code that is only legible by other script magic users. This is an extremely useful type of magic." The professor's mention of unbreakable code reminded me of what Professor Ricklin said about the engravings shown in the image of the lost original shifter city. She said that many historians believed that the only way to translate the writings would be through the use of magic, but no one has managed it yet.

After class, Gia and I decide to watch some shifter matches together at the gym. Shifter matches are often held in the afternoon once classes are let out, for shifters to practice and potentially prove they should be raised to a higher shifter level. Gia grins as she bounces in her seat on the bleachers and I'm not sure if she is more excited about practicing her magic, or seeing hot shifter men fight.
"So," I hedge carefully, "have you met anyone at this school, you sense would be a good partner for Ora?"
She gives me a knowing look, "Are you including yourself in that question?"
"I'm just curious about Ora's prospects. She's coming of age in a few weeks and I know she's worried about not having any strings."
"She will definitely have strings. I can tell you that."
"Can you tell me who with?"
"What would be the fun in that." She looks at the two men, who are just entering the ring. She tenses while she concentrates on them and then she relaxed and looks at me. "The guy with red hair and a scar across his chest is going to win." We watch the fight and sure enough the red headed guy wins.
"Have you tried using your clairvoyance to get clearer images of the future?"
"I've tried. All that I've been able to gather from my experimentation, is that when I sleep, I am seeing possible futures that have a 50/50 shot of actually happening. When I get a danger feeling, something bad is 100% about to happen within five minutes unless I, or someone I tell about the feeling, steps in. When I get the danger feeling, I've tried to use my powers to get a vision of what is going to happen, and I've only succeeded once. I am still working on getting more of a warning of danger, but I don't think I can sense the danger until it is guaranteed to happen. As for my dreams of the future, I've tried meditation to see if I can see potential futures while I am awake, and I haven't been able to yet."
"That's good at least. Knowing what danger is going to happen five minutes before it happens, is still better than nothing."
"What about you? How are your healing spit bombs coming?"
"I actually brought them with me." I say smiling and opening my bag to show Gia the water balloons in it.
Her eyes light up. "Are you going to try them out here?"
"That's the plan. I got permission from Coach Clark and Coach Steele, as well as all of the students fighting today to use them."
"This is going to be sick." Gia bounces up and down in her seat. "Are they all the same? Or did you do different ratios of water to spit in each of them?"
"Along with two cups of water in each balloon, the blue balloons have a teaspoon of spit, the yellow balloons have a tablespoon of spit, and the red balloons have a drop of blood." I reply. "My experimentation with my spit in healing salves last year taught me that not a lot of spit is needed to heal a minor wound."
"Be honest, have you ever tried healing someone with your cum?"
"Why do you want to know that?"
"I'm just curious. I also wonder if semen would be more potent than spit."
I ponder her suggestion. "I've never tried to heal with semen, but it could be a useful medical tool if it turns out to be more potent than me spit."
"Can I volunteer as your test dummy?" I give her a baffled look.
"Are… are you hitting on me?"
"Ha!" She bursts into laughter and playfully shoves my shoulder. "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Don't worry, I am not interested in guys who are in love with my best friend."
"I'm not in love with Ora!" I sputter.
"Whatever you say."
Before I can respond, I see one of the fighters get sliced across the chest. I grab a blue water balloon and chuck it at him, nailing him right over his injury.
"Nice one!" Gia exclaims as we watch the wound slowly start to heal. The slice doesn't close up fully, so I grab a yellow water balloon and throw it at the guy. Again I hit the target perfectly and the mix of my spit and water splashes over the injury closing it up the rest of the way. The guy who was previously injured looks down at his wet chest and then looks at me and flips me off. Gia smiles and blows him a kiss.
"Hey, once the fights are done, can I hang out at your place while we wait for Ora to get back from her date?"
"Of course. I have to meet with someone after this, so I won't be back until late, but you can just let yourself in."
"Thanks!"
