Chapter 12 - chapter 12

Coco's pov

Mondays.

The unwelcomed guest that arrives at our doorstep every week, uninvited and unrelenting.

Mondays have never been a particular favourite of mine and this one was no different. Probably even worse cause it seems the whole existence of Mount olives was out against me.

Despite waking up early I was five minutes late to my first class because I accidentally tripped over my own feet and ruined my outfit, plus, the line to the bathroom was very slow.

After several gruelling hours of classes it was finally over and I could've just dragged myself to my dorm and have a nice long nap but alas!, I had detention.

Curse you, Dante!

What TF am I even saying. So tired.

I furrowed my brows as I tried to stifile a yawn.

" Here, let me take your bag to the dorm for you." Sid offered as we walked alongside with Tyler down the halls.

" Don't worry, I got it." I smiled at her

" Sorry for—" Sid started but I cut her off,

"Hey, please, don't."

She nodded with a smile.

" I would've said it's not that bad but I have absolutely no idea what it's like." Tyler said.

" I've only ever had been in detention once. If you're lucky they'll just ask you to write some boring ass essay or something." Sid says.

And I hummed as we approached a turn, Mrs. Fisher's class was just by the corner.

" Well, good luck, Coco." Tyler smiled sympatheticly.

" Ugggh, don't give me that look. I'll be fine." I said to both of them as we said our goodbyes and they left.

I suddenly felt like I was being watched, I stopped walking and abruptly turned around, nothing seems suspicious, just random students walking by and..... Nathan, who I spotted from a distance, talking to a girl.

Okay,

Shaking my head to shove the feeling away I walked on but then I bumped into something, or someone.

" Can't you fucking watch where you're going!" He spoke, angrily.

Fucking great.

" Why do you seem to be everywhere I go." I said, adjusting and putting space between us, a lot of space. I can't afford to fall for whatever hypnosis his presence seem to strike me with. But from this angle I could admire the well defined structure of his body, toned muscular arms and oh-so- ripped abs...

Focus Coco.

" I could say the same for you. It seems you're obsessed with me or something." He says, anger and a tiny tinge of amusement swirling in his eyes, it seems my very presence irks him.

" Fuck off." He says, his voice, low and husky.

I couldn't move, I'm sure I looked like some crazy idiot right now.

He chuckled dryly.

" You're even dummer than you look, Miss Millers." He says and that seems to snap me back to reality.

" You're an asshole." I said, hoping the hurt I felt didn't show on my way face.

" I've been called worse. I'm pretty sure you're used to people calling you stupid too...or wait, am I the first?" He says and I lost it.

I smacked him, right across his face, hard.

At least i think it was hard cause my hands hurt like hell but he didn't even flinch, his annoying smirk not leaving his face.

" You are the most annoying stupid and insensitive jerk I've ever met. You think you can just walk around the school throwing.....the power you feel you have around and making other people's lives miserable. Well guess what, Xavier Cage, I am not scared of you," I said, poking a finger on his hard chest,

"If you think I'm one of those people who would sit back and let you boss me around, you've got another thing coming, you jackass."

He looked surprised, good.

" Are you done, little girl." He said, his stupid smirk never leaving his face even for a second.

" No. Lastly, never ever call me stupid again.

You know what, I don't even care if you do, your opinion means as much to me as shit under a shoe."

Lies.

He was quiet, his brows furrowed like he was in deep thought.

With one last glance, I walked away, pushing him a bit in the process.

I smiled to myself but still couldn't help feel a bit sad as I entered the class.

 ***

We were seven students in total,

And to my greatest dismay, Mrs fisher didn't make us write an essay, instead, she made us cut out and glue flowers and shred colorful papers to make confetti for some charity event the school is hosting.

I've been cutting for an hour now, my fingers are sore and I'm pretty sure half the confetti I was shredding was glued to my hands.

Worse part, she was sitting there, the whole time, staring at us from her glasses, ensuring that no one makes any noise.

Just then the door opened and a disheveled looking Xavier walked in,

What was he doing here?

Oh, wait, I'm not surprised, he's Xavier after all, probably because he gave that poor senior a near-death beating or maybe just karma.

The students didn't seem one bit surprised and just went on with their work.

Mrs. Fisher looked down at her desk for the first time since we started and then looked back up at him,

" Mr. Cage, a whole hour late?" She said and he offered her a small smile to which she shook her head and spoke,

" Go on, join Miss Alonzo, it seems she's cutting her nails more than she's cutting the confetti." She says, referring to the girl next to me who hadn't even started cutting for fear of cutting herself and had resolved into triming her nails with the scissors.

So he came late to detention and got no punishment? What happened to the long ass speech she gave at the beginning of the class about not tolerating tardiness?.

He walked over to sit between me and the girl.

Uggggh ... Kill me right now.

I could practically feel his hate for me oozing out in waves.

" Hey, Xavier." The girl cooed in a whisper, a sickening sweet smile adorning her face as she gawked at him dreamily. I rolled my eyes and Xavier who had caught it, smirked, then smiled at the girl who seemed pleasantly surprised.

Thirty minutes later, detention ended.

" Miss Alonzo, you didn't participate in the activity." Mrs fisher said.

" Yeah, because it's boring and menial. I just got my nails done." She smiled.

" Then I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow." The woman says.

" But, I'm supposed to be here just once.."

" Maybe the day after tomorrow too." Mrs fisher said.

" But—"

" Thursday also, now do you want to make it a whole week or kindly shut up." She said to the girl who looked frustrated, she scoffed

" Mr. Cage, a whole week for you, you of all people should know I hate tardiness.

Now I know you have a very busy schedule but please clear it and try to show up early, for your own good, or else we'll be here till the end of the semester." She said, being sarcastic.

I think I like this teacher.

Xavier just kept a passive expression. No rude comments. That's new.

"Class dismissed!" She said.

 *******

"And he kept flirting with the girl till the end of the class. Can you believe it?!" I said to sid.

After dinner, she made me narrate everything that happened at detention. As we she sat on my bed while I, was on the couch doing homework.

" Um, yeah. It's Xavier Cage. He's done way worse. I can't believe he called you stupid though —"

" And dumb." I chimed in.

" Right. From what I know he rarely even speaks to people, it seems everyone is beneath him or something." She said.

" Yeah, no shit." I said.

" That was wrong of him to do though, but, the question remains why would Xavier even spend a minute talking to you? He's a cocky entitled jerk." She said.

I chuckled.

" You mean he hasn't talked to anyone before?" I asked.

" Unless he wants to beat them up or wants something from them, no. He only ever interacts with his friend group. Oh, except Kiki." She said.

" Kiara Jones?!" I said, slamming my notebook hard.

" Yeah. Rumors have it that they dated in the past, he still talks to her though." She says.

" Huh, I'm not even surprised, birds of a feather flock together right?" I said, sid shrugged.

But why do I feel like someone was squeezing my heart like a stress- ball?

" It was a long time ago though, like when they were in middle school or something, if you're worried." Sid said.

" I'm not worried. Why would I be worried .

I don't give a fuck about them, Xavier or Kiara." I said.

Sid humms

I don't think she believes me though.
