Chapter 1 - Episode 1

My name is Zeke Draker.

He is a direct descendant of the Draker family.

This family of accomplished dragon slayers was the greatest family of knights on the continent, and even the emperor of the empire could not touch them.

In other words, in this family, anyone who cannot become a knight is treated like a stray.

I did.

The first person in the direct line of the Draker family to fail in awakening.

I was the only one who failed to awaken to the Auror, which was a natural rite of passage for the Draker bloodline.

Because I was a healer class that had nothing to do with dragon slayers.

The direct descendant of the Dragon Slayer family is the healer class.

It may sound like a cheap and bad joke, but it is an undeniable fact.

Even though I was a direct blood relative, I failed to awaken my Aura and was treated as trash by my family.

As a result, I was kicked out of the family academy, which all Draker bloodlines were required to attend, at the age of fifteen.

Since then, I have wandered the continent, doing whatever it takes to survive and become stronger.

A wise man once said:

If you only pursue power, in the end you will have nothing left.

That's fucking bullshit.

It's a million times better to have power than to have no power.

It is the truth of the world that the weak will eventually be trampled by the powerful and have what is precious taken away.

So I struggled to overcome my limits and become stronger.

If it weren't for those damn Imperial hounds, I could have been the strongest on the continent.

Because I was the first to obtain the ancient relic that the Emperor of the Empire was desperately trying to find.

I don't know exactly what it is, but it must not have been an ordinary item, since it was what the emperor, who was obsessed with conquering the continent, was looking for.

After much suffering in the icy mountains that were so cold it felt like they would freeze you to your bones, I finally found the relic.

But as soon as I came out of the dungeon, the imperial hunting dogs came chasing me with all their might.

After running away for over a week, he was finally caught right in front of the ice wall.

They cut off both my arms and snickered as they watched me squirm.

Then he took out a coin to decide who would kill me.

I clenched my teeth and crawled on the floor, holding my severed right arm and using healing.

The knight who cut off my arm was looking at the coin floating in the air when I took advantage of the moment to cut off his head from behind.

Surely you wouldn't have thought that I would be able to get up and reattach my severed arm in that situation.

I killed all the hunting dogs, but I wasn't okay.

There were a lot of swords stuck in his stomach and back.

This is not healing. Even if the healing hal-ae-bi came, it would not be recoverable.

I picked up with difficulty the dark-colored dragon statue that had fallen into the snowdrift.

Without even being able to properly solve the secrets hidden in the ancient relics, he waited painfully for death while leaning against the cold ice wall.

Even though I spent my whole life chasing only the desire to be strong, I never achieved the strength I truly desired.

'Fuck... ... .'

As I was almost out of breath, strange letters appeared before my eyes.

[A strong will awakens an ancient power.] [The soul of the Elder Dragon is imprinted on the soul of the one with the will.]

At first I thought, what the heck is this?

[The system detects danger from the Awakened.] [Emergency measures are being implemented.] [Do you agree?]

It's an emergency measure and all, but I'm so sick I could die.

[Do you agree?]

Yeah, fuck it! I agree.

Woof woof woof woof!

[The Awakened One's consent has been confirmed.] [The irreversible promised power is activated.] [The countdown begins.] [5, 4, 3, 2, 1]

* * *

"And when I opened my eyes, this is what it looked like."

Zeke looked at himself in the mirror.

The face covered in scars and burn marks disappeared, and in the mirror was a nobleman with black hair, black eyes, white skin, and impressive, detailed features.

Zeke, who was in his thirties, looked at best as if he were ten years older.

He looked around.

'I thought you looked familiar... ... .'

It was the room he had used as a 'cradle' when he was young.

"Have we really gone back to the past?"

Zeke looked down at his body.

I still couldn't forget the feeling of the sword deeply embedded in my stomach.

He looked at his hands and legs.

'Were my hands this small?'

Above all, there were hardly any wounds on his hands.

As he wandered across the continent, there was not a single spot on his body, including his hands, that was free of scars.

Zeke was worried, clutching his head.

"What the hell is going on?"

At that moment, Zig remembered the voice he had heard in his fading consciousness just before he died.

'What did you say...? Emergency measures? Promised power?'

It was difficult to properly understand what it meant.

"By the way, I came back to this crazy family… … ."

After being expelled from the academy when he was fifteen, Zeke ran away from the Draker family.

A dragon slayer family founded by the descendants of Terracan Draker, who saved the continent by cutting off the head of the evil dragon Bahamut a thousand years ago.

It is one of the three great transcendent families on the continent, where all blood relatives receive the blessing of Aura and become Aura users.

Zeke was born into the direct bloodline of the Draker family.

'They call it the Dragon Slayer Family. This place is just crazy.'

Zeke shuddered as he recalled what had happened to him here in the past.

It was a situation where he couldn't understand why he had come back to the terrible past.

"Whew… I don't know what's going on."

That was when.

[The management system is restarted.] [The soul of the Awakened is checked.] [The soul is confirmed to be 100% aligned.] [The soul of the Elder Dragon is completely combined with the soul of the chosen Awakened.] [You acquire some of the system's authority.] [The status window is activated.]

'what's this?'

Letters appeared in front of my eyes.

[Opens the status window.]

In an instant, translucent letters appeared before Zig's eyes.

[Subordinate Manager Status Window]

Name: Zeek Draker

Class: Healer (Rare Grade)

Title: Blessed by the Dragon

Class Skills: Healing / Calm Mind / Stamina Recovery / Sense Focus

Active Skills: Stab the Vital Point [E-rank (Beginner)] / Slash [E-rank (Beginner)] / One-hit Kill [D-rank (Beginner)]

Dragon Skill: (Unavailable - 10 Karma points required to unlock)

Karma Points Held: 0

Zeke looked at the letters that appeared before his eyes.

It seemed like an image created by magic rather than something real, as it was impossible to touch with one's hand.

He read the contents of the status window.

"Healer class?"

I recalled the ancient knowledge I had heard from my master long ago.

The Master said that the ancients divided their people into classes according to their potential and developed skills accordingly.

'Judging by the class and skills, it seems to be related to that ancient relic.'

Zig looked at the word "healing" in the class skills and shouted with a feeling of doubt.

"Healing."

In an instant, his hand turned white.

Zeke was surprised when he saw it.

"You've already awakened your abilities, right?"

Before regression, I only awakened my healing ability when I was over twenty years old.

Seeing that healing was still possible, Zeke realized that he still had some of his pre-regression abilities.

"If you have awakened healing, perhaps… … ?"

As Zeke closed his eyes and concentrated his energy, mana began to move near his psychic center.

Zeke's eyes widened.

"The suspension is open."

The Draker family's secret method of killing dragons can be learned only after awakening the Aura and opening the lower abdomen.

Zigg, who had not awakened his aura, was unable to open his lower abdomen and learn the true Yongsal method.

Zeke, who had the talent of a healer but could not handle aura, learned from his master how to open the mid-range and was able to handle mana.

'I thought I was going to die when I learned this.'

Zig moved his body using mana.

Whoosh!

My body swayed and my balance wavered.

Because my body was young, my body movements were not as natural as they used to be.

'If you practice, you will gradually get better.'

At least it was a much more advantageous situation than before the regression.

He turned his gaze back to the status window.

"Skill. What is this?"

Zeke pressed 'Peace of Mind' with his finger.

Then the page turned and new letters appeared.

―Skill Description―

Calm Mind: Allows the user's mind to remain calm and unshaken in any situation.

Zeke tilted his head.

"There are skills like this other than healing."

Since the concepts of class and skill are not used in modern times, I didn't even know what skills I had.

'Is it because of your calm mental skill that you are able to experience such absurd things without any mental damage?'

Even Zeke himself thought he was quite calm considering he had died a horrible death and then returned.

He tried other skills too.

―Class Skills―

Healing: Creates a healing light that heals wounds.

Calm Mind: Allows the user's mind to remain calm and unshaken in any situation.

Stamina Recovery: Replenishes lost stamina and reduces fatigue.

Sensory Focus: Instantly focus your senses to increase your speed of consciousness.

Zig, who was reading through the skills he had, tried using the sense concentration skill.

I felt my senses sharpen, as if time had slowed down.

He nodded.

"This feeling feels familiar. I may have used it unconsciously during battle."

After checking the class skills, Zigg pressed the active skill.

-Active Skill-

Stab the Vital Spot (E-Rank): You can increase your killing power by stabbing the enemy's vital spot more accurately.

Slash (E-Rank): You can quickly perform a slash attack while disrupting the enemy's vision.

One-Hit Kill (D-Rank): You can inflict a fatal attack on the enemy. However, if the attack fails, you can be countered.

Zig looked at the active skills and thought deeply.

"A finishing move? A secret move? Something like that?"

After checking the active skills, Zeke pressed the dragon skill at the bottom.

However, the skill introduction did not open and some text appeared.

[Dragon skills cannot be viewed. You need 10 karma points to view the skill.]

"Karma value?"

It was a term I had never heard before. It was a word I had never heard before even from my teacher who was quite knowledgeable about ancient knowledge.

It was when I was trying to press on the karma level.

dripping.

Someone knocked.

As Zeke unconsciously thought about turning off the status window, the text before his eyes disappeared.

"Come in."

With Zeke's permission, the door opened and someone came in.

A well-built old man with slicked-back white hair, a neatly trimmed beard, and a monocle.

Zeke was surprised to see him.

'Decker?'

Decker was a servant dispatched from the Draker family.

He spoke to Zeke with a gleam in his eyes.

"You're not ready yet… What are you thinking, Young Master?"

Decker's sharp voice made my body flinch.

In the past, Zeke felt an unconscious fear of Decker.

But now it was different.

He was no ordinary child.

At that moment, something appeared before Zeke's eyes.

[Used the Calm Mind skill.]

It seemed like the skills were used automatically depending on the situation, just as Zeke had thought.

Zeke, who had regained his composure, looked Decker in the eye and said.

"Preparation? What kind of preparation are you talking about?"

Then Decker adjusted his monocle and said.

"Have you forgotten that there is an assessment test today?"

Zeke was surprised by Decker's words.

'Evaluation test... ... ?'

Decker said, looking at Zeke.

"You need to get ready quickly. If you are late for the assessment test, you will lose points… … ."

Then Zeke looked up and asked Decker.

"Decker, what day is it today? No, what year, month, and day is it?"

At that question, Decker looked at Sieg for a moment, then adjusted his monocle again and spoke in a dry voice.

"It is October 14th, 1035th year of liberation."

Zeke calculated the date.

'If it was 1035, then I would have died in 1055, exactly 20 years ago. I was twelve. And if it was October 14th… … .'

Zig, who had gathered his thoughts, looked at Decker and said.

Advertisements

"Yeah. We always did our year-end evaluations at the cradle around this time."

Decker said, looking down at Zeke.

"As I said last time, if you continue to avoid reality like this, it will be difficult for you to survive in the Draker family, Young Master."

Although the voice was as emotionless as possible, there was sincerity in it.

Then Zeke looked up at Decker and said.

"Damage? Me?"

He clenched his fist and made a cracking sound.

"I just got back, so why are you avoiding me?"

Zeke's eyes flashed.

"There are a lot of people I owe money to."
