Among the guests one of the lords was sipping on his drink as he watched the Princess, casually throwing his passing remarks.
"The Princess looks so happy and brilliant. As expected from the only Princess born in centuries. I greatly admire the Princess, because unlike others, she is so bright and Knowledgeable. She will definitely bring peace to the empire!"
"Lord Kajen, be careful with your words! Don't you know it's forbidden to bring up that person?!"
In an instant, the other lords scolded the foolish guy for bringing up that person on their happy occasion.
Because the Emperor himself banned talking about that person, this means they were crossing an unforgivable line they shouldn't. This foolish guy!
Even though they did their best to stop the discussion before it went out of hand, they still had to bear the glaring eyes of the Crown Prince from a few meters away.
The entire day, the Palace was abuzz with many people who were invited. all the minister and personnel, newscaster and media.
The party started in the evening, since it was going to be all night, Emperor Jiang returned to his studies to take a breather. He still had his own work to do, let the children have fun as they wished.
Just as he settled into his seat, Aide Huang entered the study.
"Your Majesty, there is someone… who wishes to meet you."
"Right now? I'm stressed to talk with anyone right now, tell them to come back tomorrow." Jiang Xun pinched his forehead as he leaned back on his seat, closing his eyes.
"Your Majesty, actually it's that person. She has been standing outside your study since the morning. I told her you were busy, but she said she will wait till you grant permission to meet." Aide Huang was uncomfortable and cautious in bringing up the topic.
As expected, the Emperor furrowed his brows again. He becomes irritated whenever that person is brought up.
"Sigh… tell her to come in." With a heavy breath, Jiang Xun ordered.
A girl about the same age as Jiang Meng entered the room with firm steps.
The girl was in a casual worn out t shirt and jeans, there was nothing special on her body. With hair and black as ink that she kept neat and clean using her hands and malnutritioned appearance, she looked no better than a street beggar asking for alms.
Despite her worn and shabby appearance, what made Jiang Xun chill was those eyes that brimmed with life despite that poor state she lived in. But not a shred of sympathy showed up in him as he said in a cold voice, "You better not be coming here just for something simple like having a conversation."
Hearing this, the girl gave off a strange smile as she said, "Of course not. I don't dare to waste the important time of the Emperor of this Empire. Then I guess I don't need to beat around the bush and come off direct."
That calm and collected, yet somewhat cold smile bothered Jiang Xun. but he didn't point it out, rather he waited for her to speak up next, pursing his lips impatiently.
"As you can see, I came of age yesterday. The Princess and the Imperial family have been benevolent to me, I'd rather not pull it for so long. So…"
"I'd like to leave, of course with conditions."
Aide Huang seemed a bit shocked, while Emperor Jiang didn't have a change in his expression. He observed the girl before him quietly, with an indifferent gaze that didn't seem to see her as a human being.
It seems that she realized very well that she was unwanted and unwelcome in this place, so she wanted to leave now?
"Because my daughter is so kind and benevolent, she let you live here. Or else I would have kicked you out long ago because I'm not the same as her, but it's good in a way. Huang, go bring me the papers."
Since an opportunity to get rid of her has risen, Jiang Xun didn't want to let this chance slip off and quickly be done with it. Aide Huang bought the papers shortly, and Jiang Xun glanced at the papers and then to Rui, passing the papers to her, he hurried, "Once you sign this contract, this relation between us would be void. You would no longer be the princess, just a common person, and can't continue living in the palace anymore."
"Not that I'm looking forward to living here anyway." Rui was nonchalant as she glanced at the paper, "But, do you take me for a beggar whom you gave alms to?"
"...!!!"
Both Jiang Xun and Aide Huang were surprised by her cold tone and way of speaking. What's gotten into her?
"I told you I want to separate on good terms, Your Majesty. Shouldn't you be a bit more benevolent to the person who you regarded as your daughter for years?" A wicked smile spread across Ruis face, to which Jiang Xun felt chills.
"What else do you want?" Jiang Xun asked in a cold tone, but Rui was chill as she showed no sign of fear.
"Hmm, nothing much. Just my rights that I should've enjoyed as a princess, you should at least give me that much for a price, isn't that right?"
"You!" Jiang Xun just wanted to slap her hard, but it wouldn;t be good to be seen while abusing his power, the veins of his forehead popped up in rage, but he tried to remain calm as he yelled, "Don't try to bite more than you can chew!"
"Oh, of course not. My wish is pretty small, you can consider a bit before making a decision, Your Majesty." Rui smiled as she said in a pretty calm tone, despite how she riled up Jiang Xun and enjoying every second of it.
Rui puckered her lips as she pretended to think deeply, spouting out every word and emphasizing things that shocked Jiang Xun.
