Sophia woke up early to do her chores. When she was done washing and sweeping the compound, she went in to freshen up and go to school. After all that, she ate her breakfast and left for school.
Sophia was young lady of 20 years. She was a student in the University of Calabar studying mass communication. When she got to class, it was already filled up with students. She quickly took her seat at the back and removed her notebooks.
Few minutes later, a lecturer came in and started teaching. The class lasted for 2 hours without a break. She was tired when the class ended. She picked up her bag and got into another hall where she was having another lecture. This one lasted for another 2 hours. After that, she didn't have any more class again so she prepared to go home. She got home, ate and laid down for a bit.
She reminisced about everything that had happened today. She remembered that she didn't call her family since morning. She really missed them a lot.
When she got admitted into university, she had to leave her hometown to Calabar to study. Her family of 5 lived at Lagos while she moved to Calabar for school. Her dad was a police man, her mom was a nurse and also had a shop to support her family. Her 3 siblings, Olivia (18), was working as a waitress in a restaurant; Daniel (16) and Joshua (14) were still in secondary school.
She picked up her phone and dialed the house line and Daniel picked up.
"Hey sissy", Daniel said when he picked the call. Sophia smiled and asked how everyone was doing.
"Dad, mom and Olivia are not yet back, it's just me and josh", he responded.
"Well I just called to say hello since I didn't contact you guys in the morning. But anyways, extend my greetings to all of them when they are back," she requested.
"Okay sissy, I will. Stay safe".
The call ended and Sophia heaved a sigh. She stood up and went to her little store room. She actually sold clothes both men's clothing and women's clothing. That was her side hustle and she used that to survive. She wasn't the type to really rely on her family because she knew they were all going through a lot so needed to fend for herself. She checked out the remaining clothes she had and wrote down what she needed to get too.
Today, she had no orders so she stayed at home and rested waiting for the next day.
