Brian's eyes never left mine as he nodded at Josh.
" Thanks Josh".
" And sir, Mr Lee asked to see you before he leaves " Josh said.
Mr Brian let out a sigh as he turned to leave, My face was still burning with embarrassment and Josh was still standing at the door.
Josh's eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at him probably searching for answers.
" What's going on with you and Mr Brian "? he asked, his voice low and concerned.
I felt my face heat up knowing that he had just witnessed Mr Brian and me kissing.
" What do you mean"? I asked not sure of how to reveal anything to him.
Josh raised an eyebrow " Don't even play dumb Emily "
" Play dumb? I'm not trying to, besides what's your business anyway? we ain't friends anymore " I said trying not to raise my voice because i was still mad at him.
" You're still mad at me aren't you "?
" Look Josh as much as i don't like having this conversation right now, I don't want to talk about anything. not even with you".
" I'm sorry for abandoning our friendship " he apologized looking sincere.
I looked at him for a while seeing his genuine regret in his eyes but as i realised that it was too late, alot had happened and it can't be fixed by a mere apology even if it was sincere.
" Josh, i appreciate your apology but i think it's too late, you chose what mattered the most and I've learnt to live with it".
" I was just following orders" He said.
" And i ain't judging you" I said.
" Look, Mr Brian is complicated and he's your boss. Don't let whatever fantasy that's going on get to your head" He said clearly upset.
" I know Josh, besides he's not just my boss, he's....different "
Josh raised an eyebrow
" Different? what do you mean"?
I hesitated unsure of how to explain.
" I don't know Josh... He just is. and i feel a connection with him, one that I've never felt with anyone else"
Josh sighed clearly not pleased with my words. "You deserve someone who's going to treat you right, not some rich, powerful guy who's going to use you for his own pleasure "
I felt angry at Josh's words but i tried to remain calm.
" Josh, you don't understand. Brian's not like that. he's kind and caring " I defended.
" Now he's Brian? no longer Mr Brian? Just be careful Emily "
Just then Mr Brian walked back into the office, a look of curiosity in his face.
" Everything okay here"? He asked, his eyes darting between Josh and me.
Josh nodded, his expression neutral.
" Yes sir, everything's fine, I was just discussing some...work related issues with Emily ".
Mr Brian's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't ask any questions further. " Okay well, you can excuse us now" Mr Brian said to Josh.
" Yes sir" Josh replied and turned to leave but not before casting a warning glance at me.
Brian waited until Josh had left closing the door behind him before turning to me.
" what was all that about "? he asked
I shrugged feeling a bit uncomfortable.
" Just Josh being Josh" I said.
" He must have said something about us right"? He asked.
" Well, he just wants me to be careful, so i don't get hurt" I said.
Brian's expression softened as he took a step closer totally closing the gap between us.
" And do you think I'm going to hurt you"? He asked, his voice low and a bit husky.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as i met his gaze.
" I don't know ". I said honestly.
" I don't know what's going on between us or where this is headed or what this even is" I said.
" I'm asking myself the same thing, I can't explain how I'm feeling, but i know you drive me crazy and i get jealous when you're with another " He said slowly stroking my cheeks, his hands felt like magic and i felt my eyes closing enjoying his touch.
Brian's words hung in the air, and I felt my heart racing with excitement. His hands on my cheeks sent shivers down my spine, and I couldn't help but lean into his touch.
As I stood there, my eyes closed, I felt Brian's lips brush against mine. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it sent sparks flying through my body.
I opened my eyes to find Brian's gaze locked on mine. His eyes were burning with intensity, and I could see the desire in them.
"Emily," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"Yes?" i replied, my voice low and husky.
He took a deep breath, probably trying to process his emotions. "I think I need some time to think," he said finally.
I felt my expression softened, and i nodded. "Okay, I understand. But can I ask you one thing?"
He nodded, curious.
"Do you feel it too?" I asked, my eyes searching his. "This connection between us?"
He seem to hesitate for a moment before nodding. "Yes, I feel it too."
My face relaxed, and i managed a smile. "ok," i said. "I'll give you some space, but I'll be waiting for you."
And with that, I adjusted my dress and walked out of his office.
As I walked out of Brian's office, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. The connection between us was undeniable, and I couldn't wait to see where things would go.
I made my way back to my desk, trying to focus on my work. But my mind kept wandering back to Brian and our conversation.
Just as I was starting to get lost in thought, my phone buzzed with an incoming text from Josh.
"Hey, just wanted to check in and make sure you're okay," the text read.
I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit annoyed. Josh was suddenly concerned about me? After abandoning our friendship and only apologizing now?
I typed out a quick response. "I'm fine, Josh. Don't worry about me."
I hit send and tried to focus on my work again. But my mind kept drifting back to Brian and the spark between us.
Little did I know, things were about to get a lot more complicated.
