Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Henry Mitchell stared at the small black shadow on the B - ultrasound sheet, and slowly reached out his trembling hand to touch it. This was his and Sophie Lawrence's second child. Even though there was not the slightest fluctuation on his face, one could clearly feel that his emotions were on the verge of collapse.

Sophie Lawrence walked forward in the darkness as if in a dream. Suddenly, she seemed to hear someone calling her name from behind. Sophie Lawrence stopped because of this call from behind, turned around and walked towards the direction of the voice. But then she saw a bright light ahead, and her body involuntarily rushed towards that light. She seemed to be bewitched by some mysterious force and rushed straight into that blinding light.

She opened her eyes wide suddenly and gasped for air.

"Hey, you're awake?!" A voice full of surprise came from beside her.

Sophie Lawrence looked in the direction of the voice, her eyes full of shock, and subconsciously called out, "Mom."

Mrs. Sang happily replied, "Yes," and quickly pressed the call bell beside the bed.

Sophie Lawrence sat on the bed, looking at the doctors and nurses gathering around, full of confusion in her heart. Wasn't she already dead?

The doctor examined Sophie Lawrence carefully for a long time and finally came to a conclusion.

"There is no major problem now. As long as you rest and recuperate at ease in the following days, basically there will be no big problems."

Mrs. Sang could no longer restrain the joy on her face: "Thank you, doctor."

After the doctor left, Sophie Lawrence looked at Mrs. Sang, her voice a little nervous.

"Mom, what happened to me?"

"You were crushed by the shelves while saving someone. You have been in a coma for a whole week."

After saying that, Mrs. Sang quickly took out her mobile phone and sent a message to Henry Mitchell: Hehe is awake.

Sophie Lawrence was horrified as she listened to Mrs. Sang's words.

She asked in a trembling voice, "Was it the warehouse shelves?"

Mrs. Sang put down her phone, still a little frightened: "Yes. When you were rescued, your protective suit was all black."

"The girl you saved has a fractured left leg and is staying in the next ward."

After hearing Mrs. Sang's words, Sophie Lawrence suddenly widened her eyes. The feeling of being crushed by the shelves and losing consciousness that day seemed like it was just yesterday. A ridiculous idea popped into her mind. Was she reborn?

Suddenly, Sophie Lawrence thought of the baby in her belly.

She suddenly touched her abdomen, looking terrified: "Where is my baby?"

Mrs. Sang looked confused: "What baby?"

Seeing Mrs. Sang's reaction, Sophie Lawrence was suddenly stunned.

Was the baby gone again?

She clutched the quilt tightly, her mind in chaos.

Just as she was about to ask something more, a voice came from the doorway.

It was Henry Mitchell.

"Mitchell, you're here," said Mrs. Sang.

Henry Mitchell walked closer with two thermos buckets in his hand and said softly, "These were just brought by my mother."

Mrs. Sang was a little surprised and said with a smile, "Thank you to your mother."

Henry Mitchell placed the thermos buckets on the bedside table next to Sophie Lawrence and instructed.

"Lawrence needs to be more careful with her diet these days. Mom, don't cook alone. I will bring the food directly at that time."

Mrs. Sang thought for a moment and replied, "Okay."

Since Henry Mitchell entered the room, Sophie Lawrence had been keeping her head down and not speaking.

After Henry Mitchell left, Sophie Lawrence slowly raised her head and looked at Mrs. Sang and asked, "When did he come back?"

"On the night of your accident."

"A sudden epidemic broke out in Sunville. As one of the first - batch of support doctors, he should have continued to fight the epidemic on the front line. But when he heard about your accident, he came back early."

Sophie Lawrence was shocked and subconsciously said,

"He said he was going to the neighboring provincial capital for a consultation. How could it be epidemic support?!"
