Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Mrs. Sang looked at Sophie Lawrence's reaction and sighed softly.

"I was told about his going to support the fight against the epidemic by his colleagues at Healing Haven. He didn't tell you the truth probably because he didn't want you to worry."

Sophie Lawrence clenched her hands tightly, her inner emotions surging like a turbulent tide.

In the evening, Mrs. Sang suddenly received a call from the school, saying that some senior students had a fight. Sophie Lawrence knew very well that Mrs. Sang cared a great deal about her students, so she let Mrs. Sang go and deal with the school matter first.

"If there's anything wrong, call the doctor, okay?" said Mrs. Sang, her face full of worry.

Sophie Lawrence nodded hurriedly.

Soon after Mrs. Sang left, Henry Mitchell came to the Healing Chamber, carrying an exquisite food container in his hand. At this time, Henry Mitchell had taken off the white coat that symbolized his identity as a doctor. Presumably, he had already finished work.

Seeing Henry Mitchell suddenly appear, Sophie Lawrence felt a pang of guilt for no reason and asked softly, "Why are you here?"

"Before Mom left, she called me," Henry Mitchell replied.

Sophie Lawrence lowered her eyes and murmured, "Oh."

Henry Mitchell took out the clear porridge from the food container and handed it to Sophie Lawrence, saying gently, "Have some food first."

Sophie Lawrence slowly raised her hand to take it, and Henry Mitchell dragged a chair over and sat down gently.

Sophie Lawrence wanted to ask about the child in her heart, but she was afraid of what had happened four years ago. Her heart was in a tangle, as if there were two little people constantly pulling in her mind. One little person said she must ask clearly because it was related to her future; the other was afraid of being hit again and advised her not to open her mouth.

Looking at Sophie Lawrence's hesitant look, Henry Mitchell frowned slightly and said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

Sophie Lawrence was silent for a long time, as if a century had passed, before she slowly opened her mouth, "The child..."

Henry Mitchell's eyes instantly darkened, and he said coldly, "I don't want to mention what happened four years ago."

"Four years ago?" Sophie Lawrence couldn't help but be stunned, and a glimmer of hope sprang up in her heart. She asked tentatively, "So, I didn't have a miscarriage this time?"

Henry Mitchell frowned even more tightly and said impatiently, "You're not pregnant. What miscarriage are you talking about?"

Sophie Lawrence's eyes widened immediately, and she murmured, "I'm not pregnant..."

Looking at Sophie Lawrence's reaction, Henry Mitchell's eyes became complicated, as if hiding countless ineffable emotions.

Without warning, Henry Mitchell suddenly stood up and walked quickly out of the Healing Chamber towards the Physicians Loft. Sophie Lawrence was at a loss for a moment, feeling her head in chaos.

Suddenly, she remembered the ultrasound report left at the Fire Brigade Station. In a hurry, she was about to lift the quilt and get out of bed. But she completely ignored that her body hadn't fully recovered yet. As soon as she stood up, her legs seemed to suddenly lose their strength, and she felt weak and unable to exert any force. The whole person suddenly fell towards the ground.

"Bang -"

The food container on the bedside table was knocked over, making a loud noise, and all the porridge inside spilled out, with half of it pouring onto Sophie Lawrence's calf.

"Hiss -"

Sophie Lawrence couldn't help but suck in a cold breath, feeling that her calf was burning as if on fire. She hurriedly used her hand to shake off the scalding porridge on her trouser leg, but it was too late. The scalded area had already turned bright red, like a blooming red rose, but with a stinging feeling.

Hearing the noise, Henry Mitchell hurried over. When he saw Sophie Lawrence in a mess on the ground, his brows furrowed suddenly, and his eyes were full of worry. He quickly stepped forward, picked Sophie Lawrence up around the waist, and carefully put her back on the bed. Then he turned around and quickly went out to get a new set of hospital gowns.

"Change into this," Henry Mitchell handed the hospital gown to Sophie Lawrence. Although his voice was still cold, there was a trace of imperceptible concern.

Sophie Lawrence hid under the quilt and slowly took off the soiled pants. At this time, Henry Mitchell's cold voice suddenly rang in her ear.

"Just now I asked Dr. Lee who treated you. You are indeed not pregnant, nor did you have a miscarriage."

Sophie Lawrence's movement paused slightly, but her face didn't show any special emotion. She just replied softly, "Yes."

Henry Mitchell carefully observed Sophie Lawrence's reaction, his eyes as deep as an unfathomable pool.

Just then, a nurse suddenly walked into the Healing Chamber and said to Henry Mitchell, "Dr. Henry, here are the ointment and ice pack you asked for."

Henry Mitchell turned around to take the things from the nurse and said politely, "Thank you."

The nurse looked at Sophie Lawrence and suddenly asked, "Dr. Henry, is Miss Sophie really your wife?"

Henry Mitchell gave a soft "Yes" and then pulled a chair over and sat down. He gently rolled up Sophie Lawrence's trouser leg and put the ice pack on the scalded area.

Looking at Henry Mitchell's actions, the nurse subconsciously asked, "Then what about Miss Chloe Morgan?"
