Chapter 3 - The battle stadium

Rhett stood up immediately.

"We all are like servants of slayerious my king", said ash. "You must lead us to survive".

Before rhett could pull himself together not to be too confused by all this happening…

'[OFF TO THE BATTLE GROUND?]',said the seer.

Rhett felt a force jerk him backwards onto the ground. He felt shocked but nonetheless looked cool. Things was happening too fast and he felt like it was becoming rushed.

A horse with a little carriage that could only contain one person zoomed into the palace.

'[ENTER!]'.

Rhett complied and entered the small carriage at the back of the horse which quickly zoomed off.

Ash pointed to the moving carriage. "Everyone follow the carriage!", he screamed.

Footfalls became rampant as they all ran after the carriage, ash entering a horse and some dragon slayers on horses coming with him.

The villagers sighed as the horse carrying their king zoomed past them.

"ALL HAIL THE KING", they all said unisonly, their voices lacking energy.

The horse carrying rhett ran with force and rhett couldn't help but shake helplessly in the small carriage he was in. His crown was still on his head and even though it fell at times when the road became too rough, he still put it on.

"Damn!, damn!, damn!", he said out loud. "What have I gotten my self into?".

A voice came through from nowhere (the voice of seer):

"ON A RULER'S SHOULDER LIES THE WORLD - THE WORLD OF HIS KINGDOM".

The horse was running in a dash - a frenzy!. Rhett desperately tried not to puke. Ash was behind him, together with the other dragon slayers.

There was a tiny window in the carriage and rhett could see through it. He soon saw ash face, speaking words he couldn't comprehend, words that sounded gibberish to his ears. Nonetheless he picked out:

"You'll be fine my king!".

'I doubt that', rhett thought.

The horse suddenly swerved into another direction and by then, rhett could hear distant shouts, booming into his ear. He knew he would soon puke now and he tried really hard to keep it in.

Ash rode with force behind him, the other dragon slayers coming with full speed behind them.

Suddenly, without any sign or warning that it would stop, the horse halted. Ash, stunned by that, pulled the ropes of his horse back to prevent a crash but …

… the horse croppered and tumbled on the ground, ash reeling off it.

He staggered up and ran over to the horse carriage where rhett was in, pulling him out. Rhett's crown fell to the ground and ash picked it up for him, setting it on his head.

"You okay?", he asked rhett.

Rhett shrugged and staggered as he was obviously dizzy. "If staying alive is okay then… yeah, I think I'm pretty ok".

Ash nodded and looked at the remaining dragon slayers that were riding their way. They halted their horses and came to see if rhett was okay. Rhett assured them he was okay and they nodded in the affirmative, gazing forward.

In front of them was an ancient rome like stadium. It was carved stylishly, the top carved into flowers.

Ash neared rhett as they looked at the stadium.

"This is the slayers stadium", he said.

Rhett looked at him in the face. "What do we do here?", he asked.

"We fight", came the reply. "They are other slayers like us. Demon slayers, ghost slayers, shadow slayers, gargoyle slayers and then us dragon slayers. We are the weakest and we're often made fun of, noting the fact that we had no king for years".

Rhett squinted his eyes. "What's the essence of fighting?".

"We get to win and be spared by slayerious", explained ash.

Rhett took a deep breath as he stared at the stadium again, then together with ash and the dragon slayers they walked towards it. Arriving at the gate, they were blocked by two hefty looking guards.

"Hey!", shouted one of them. "What do you guys want?".

Ash made no response as he awaited rhett to do that. The remaining dragon slayers awaited that too.

Rhett quickly changed his face to be a proud and indifferent one.

"We are the dragon slayers", Rhett said. The two guards exchanged glances as one of them moved aside and the other followed suit.

"We know", said one of the guards. "We just wanted to know what you would say".

They chuckled as rhett and the dragon slayers entered into the stadium. Ash eyeing the guards in disdain.

Inside the stadium viewed it to be more massive, with people filling up the seats there was no more chance for any new person that may wish to seat.

Rhett turned his neck occasionally, sauntering instead of walking, almost desperately trying to look fearful. He noticed their were many speakers hung on the walls and soon a loud female voice boomed out of it:

"Welcome the dragon slayers, leading them is their new king, king Rhett!", the voice echoed.

Rhett waved to the crowd who cheered if not anything, sarcastically in a way. Ash smiled as he came up to rhett.

"Make us proud king", he said.

"You're like my assistant right?", asked rhett to ash.

Ash shrugged. "Yeah. Here we call it hand of the king".

Rhett nodded in the affirmative as he looked forward. The dragon slayers with him, adding ash were six, plus him and it was seven.

Forward, In the middle of the large circular stadium, was a stand, obviously made of stone. The place was empty except for them and by now, rhett didn't actually know what to do.

The voice boomed from the speakers:

"Dragon slayers, kindly take to the middle of the stadium".

Rhett and his slayers did as told and then as they did so, their was a large repeated sound of footfalls coming from the gate of the stadium. He looked to that direction and saw, not so much to his shock, about eleven men clothed in black coloured knight armours.

The most prominent one among them had on his head, a dark crown.

Ash gently leaned on rhett's shoulder and whispered into his ears:

"Those are demon slayers".

Rhett eyed the man with the dark crown on his head and the latter winked at him, raising an eyebrow. Rhett quickly diverted the stare at one of the other men.

"Walk to the stand and stay behind it", said the voice from the speakers to the men in black Knight's armor.

They complied and did as they were told, walking to the stand and staying behind it.

"This is the dragon slayers versus the demon slayers", said the voice from the speakers. The crowd cheered. What seemed to be the spectators were actually members of the slayers, demon, ghost and the rest apart from the dragon slayers who obviously came unprepared.

"Choose a representative!", said the voice from the speakers. "Choose a representative to compete in the battle".

Ash and the other dragon slayers quickly pointed to rhett who was expecting it. He actually knew they would point at him.

"Step forward king Rhett!", said the voice. Rhett did so and stepped forward.

The demon slayers were slower in picking a representative. They put their heads together, forming a circle as they contemplated on the person to choose. Finally, they disbanded and the man with the dark crown pointed at a muscular man.

"Step forward mychel!", boomed the voice. "The remaining dragon slayers and demon slayers join the crowd".

Some men with stern faces came and led them to an opened door which led to the place were the spectators were.

"The two contestants should shake themselves before they start to battle", said the voice.

Rhett stepped forward to shake hands with the other man. As he extended an hand, the man quickly took it and squeezed it hardly, making rhett to slightly groan in pain.

"Be ready to die King of the dragon slayers!", the man said with a wide mischievous grin.
