All right you two, take me to your parents, I need to end them before they come after me looking to seek vengeance for you little bro. Fear had been established but unfortunately, communication hadn't and not even Rio threatening to send them to the afterlife like he had their sibling moved them.
He had just begun giving up on the idea of finding their parent and exterminating them when a painful roar, echoed through the forest.
"That your mother," Rio asked and seeing a flash of fear go through their eyes he turned.
Uncomfortable with wearing his blood-caked shirt, other than having on his shoes and pants, Rio was bare-chested, his shirt hung over his shoulders as he marched towards the source of the roar.
Like it was begging for help, the pitiful roar rang out several times and it didn't take Rio long to reach the mouth of a wide cave within the forest.
Gripping his axe tightly, Rio cautiously walked into the cave, and not even up to a minute later he came upon the sight of a direhog just as big as the level 4 he had killed agonizingly squirming on the floor.
The Direhogs stomach was unnaturally bloated so Rio assumed it was pregnant but then there was a large pool of blood flowing from its back door and he could only wonder if it had gotten a miscarriage.
Moving closer, it was only when Rio got more than 10 meters closer to it, that snapped it's head in his direction and while he wondered why that was so considering he had experienced the same thing with the level 4 direhog his eyes stumbled on that of the female direhog.
With a long sniff, the direhog took in his scent and when Rio saw it's eyes change from wary to angry a thought came to mind and he questioned.
"You wouldn't happen to be the mate of the big direhog I killed yesterday now would you"
The pregnant direhog let out a sharp deadly growl at Rio, but he was in no way scared of a pregnant and intensively bleeding creature.
Ignoring the beast which seemed to so badly want to claw at him but lacked the strength to do so, Rio's eyes went to the rest of the cave.
As much as Rio was here to end a potential future threat he was also on the lookout for clues and well given how ignorant he was at the moment, anything even the cave of a direhog family was an important location in his eyes.
Rio noticed several bones at the end of the cave, but the sight of a few swords and spears had him smiling as it signified the presence of an intelligent life form, humans. Unfortunately picking up the weapons, he found that they were deeply rusted and useless to him.
There were a few torn up ragged fur clothes thrown to one side and then a pile of meat to the side, meat which definitely didn't belong to a direhog.
Seeing nothing of Value, Rio turned to leave the cave, but then he noticed movement within the female direhog's stomach.
"Huh it isn't dead" Rio muttered and a second after he spoke a cut was made in the stomach of the direhog blood and a tiny snot broke through it and took in a long breath.
A sharp cry escaped from the mouth of the female direhog, but Rio ended it with the fall of his axe over its neck.
"Noisy"
With a pleasant silence enveloping the cave, Rio silently watched as the snot was pushed past the belly of it's mother, more and more of it's head coming out but just before it could fully come out, another snot pushed through the opening in the belly, wiggling its head and making the cut wider till eventually two pair of red eyes got to lay their sight on the world.
Blinking softly, the pairs of eyes eventually found their way to Rio and after staring at him for a while they closed their eyes as the young cubs fell asleep.
"Life born from death" Rio muttered.
While the cubs slept, Rio's slipped into a trance, his gaze locked on the sight of the cubs sleeping form, this going on for several hours.
It was during this time, that two aggressive growls came from the entrance of the cave and soon two direhogs cubs entered, the cubs that Rio had left down at the creek.
The two cubs observed their dead mother with furious eyes, howling at moaning at her dead form and then shifting their gaze to Rio who was frozen solid unable to move a limb, they attacked.
With the vicious angry growls leaving their mouths it seemed like Rio's life was about to be ended but before the two cubs could get close to Rio, the eyes of the two heads hanging out of their mother's belly snapped open and looking at their elder sibling, they furiously clawed out of their mother's belly and attacked them.
When Rio awoke, his legs felt weak and he fell to his knees, a heavy headache shooting through his head but when he heard a cute yelp to the side, he with a sigh looked up and stared at the two excited little direhog heads looking at him, his eyes trailing to the one body which they shared.
"Thanks, you saved me, those guys would have ripped me to shred," Rio said scratching underneath the chins of the two-headed direhog who happily yipped at him.
Rio looked to two mauled direhog corpses to the side and then he thought about how he had been in a state where he was both conscious and unconscious of what was happening around him.
Though Rio doubted the two little beasts would have been able to kill him, as their attacks would have pulled him from whatever trance he was in and though he couldn't remember a thing about what had happened while he had been in that state, he somehow knew that that moment had been incredibly important and missing it would have been a huge loss.
"What a weird feeling."
