Chapter 20 - Pok death

"Grace! And Lola!" Pok muttered, his gaze flickering incessantly.

After a long while, Pok clenched his teeth and strode away swiftly.

An hour later, Pok arrived at Grace's residence.

"Tell Grace that I need to speak with her," Pok said coldly, no longer concealing his intentions but instead openly giving orders to Grace's attendant.

The maid was somewhat surprised, but seeing the stern look on Pok's face, she dared not ask further and hurried back to report.

In a short while, the maid led Pok into the room.

"Pok?" Grace was somewhat astonished, not expecting that after just meeting and plotting in the morning, Pok would come to find her in the afternoon. Could it be that something had happened again?

"Grace, I'm going to kill Barto!" This shocking statement made Grace's face drain of color.

"Pok, do you know what you're saying?" Grace stood up, looking at Pok with immense shock.

"Take a look at this first!" Pok handed over the letter he had just received.

"What?" After reading it, Grace's expression changed drastically as well, and she slumped back into her chair.

You see, the person she had sent to deliver the letter to her brother was a personal maid she had brought from home, an absolutely loyal confidante who would never betray her!

So, how did the blackmailer find out that she had contacted her own brother?

"Now, it's very likely that Barto has found out about our affair," Pok said with a gloomy expression, his eyes flashing with a fierce glint. "Both you and I, and even Lola, are in grave danger; our fates are hanging by a thread, and the outcome will surely be death! Therefore, we must make a decision quickly!"

Pok continued, "Barto's condition is now very serious; he is beyond cure. So, I have two plans. One is to pack our things and the three of us flee together. The other is to strike first and kill that bastard before Barto makes his move. In this way, we will not only be free from worries but also be able to help Lola rise to power and seize his fortune!"

"Grace, for Lola's sake, which one are you going to choose?" Pok stared intently at Grace, his eyes filled with a maddened look.

Grace's face was one of struggle, and after a long while, she nodded with difficulty. "Alright, if that's the case, then we have no choice but to kill Barto."

Pok's lips curled into a relieved smile. So, the two of them tidied up and prepared to head to Barto's residence to take action in advance.

However, just as Pok was about to open the door, he heard a whooshing sound from behind.

Bang!

In the next moment, Pok turned around in disbelief.

He saw Grace, holding an iron candlestick and with a ferocious expression on her face.

With a thud, he fell to the ground.

"Pok, don't blame me!" Grace trembled all over, but the next moment, seeing Pok's body convulse and struggle to get up, she raised the candlestick and smashed it down on Pok's head frantically.

Once, twice, three times…

A minute later, Pok had already lost all signs of life, and Grace's face was covered in blood and brain matter.

Gasping for breath, Grace let the candlestick fall to the ground.

After resting for a while, she stood up and wiped herself off with a handkerchief.

Then she went out and called two personal maids.

"Lady Grace!" When the two maids saw Pok lying on the ground with blood on his head, they were shocked and terrified.

"Silence! Whoever dares to scream, I will kill all of your family members!" Grace said sternly, and the two maids immediately shut their mouths.

Their families, although not slaves, were long-term employees of Grace's natal family.

And Grace's brother was the captain of the Hipu Town security squad, holding the power of defense.

Therefore, they dared not resist, only trembling and standing there motionless in fear.

"Later, when you go out, temporarily arrange some tasks to have the servants leave. Then, bring a thick carpet to clean up this place. Also, if anyone asks, say that Pok left after dinner, understood?" Grace was very calm and arranged everything.

After the maids left, she wrapped Pok's body with a carpet and set it aside. Once the maids brought a new carpet, she cleaned the floor, laid the carpet down again, and the room was refreshed.

Immediately after, Grace and the two maids spent over an hour in the deserted courtyard, digging a large pit to bury Pok's body.

"Rest assured, as long as you don't speak of today's events, your families will be rewarded by my brother. On the contrary, if this matter is spread by you, then the consequences… need no further explanation, right?" Grace said with a sinister tone, and the two personal maids nodded hurriedly.

Only after Grace returned to her bedroom did she let out a long sigh.

"Pok, you were wrong! The one Barto wants to kill is only you. As for me and Lola, even if Barto is extremely angry, he would never dare to touch us!" Grace sneered, her eyes filled with shrewdness.

She was not some foolish housewife who could be easily deceived and manipulated by Pok. As the sister of a Just Knight, she was well aware of her brother's position in Hipu Town.

Back when Barto, a businessman who started from scratch with no background, married her after the death of his wife, it was precisely because of this union that he was able to establish himself in Hipu Town and build his vast fortune.

Therefore, even if Barto truly found out about the affair between her and Pok, he would only dare to kill Pok and would not dare to lay a finger on her.

However, whether Barto would completely give up on Lola afterwards, or even divorce her and drive them out, was another matter entirely.

"If only you, Pok, were not so hasty and could have waited just one more day…" Grace sighed. In fact, she still had feelings for Pok. After all, he was the biological father of her child; how could she truly be indifferent when killing him?

But Pok was just too impulsive. Grace could see that although Pok seemed to give her two choices on the surface, he had already become obsessed and was determined to take the path of killing Barto.

Of course, killing Barto was not impossible, but it absolutely could not be tonight! Because at present, there were nearly ten knight attendants guarding the Barto household. With just her and Pok's strength, it would be impossible to kill Barto without alerting these attendants.

Moreover, Barto's eldest son, Nemo, born from his previous marriage, would return from Kurah City the next day. Upon learning of his father's sudden death, how could he not investigate?

Thus, they had to wait until the next day, when her brother arrived, to carry out this plan.

But seeing Pok's panicked and frantic state, Grace knew he could not wait. To prevent Pok from causing trouble, Grace had no choice but to take drastic action and eliminate him.
