It was time to leave the settlement and hunt a Beast-Class monster, Ren muttered to himself.
Ren stepped out, heading into the wasteland outside the settlement walls. The barren land stretched far and wide, the air dry and still. After walking for a while, he spotted a Razorhorn Boar behind a massive boulder.
"Alright, let me check my stats," Ren muttered, pulling up his system window. His HP and MP were full, at 120 HP and 100 MP and his system inventory showed three recovery potions and one full-healing potion. Good enough.
He equipped his dual blades, the weapons glinting in the harsh sunlight. As an assassin, his strength came from speed and precision. Checking his skills, he saw:
Shadow Step (3 uses): Disappear into shadows and reappear in the nearest one.
Conceal (2 uses): Go undetected for a short time (1 minute).
Back Stab (5 uses): Counter an attack by teleporting behind the enemy and striking.
He also had some unspent attribute points, which he told the system to boost his agility, strength, and intellect. Feeling ready, he gave the system a new command: "Identify the monster."
A glowing prompt appeared:
---
Razorhorn Boar
HP: 350 | MP: 100
Description: A wild boar with curved tusks sharp enough to slice through trees. It is highly aggressive and charges at anything it perceives as a threat.
Abilities: Powerful charge, sharp tusks, unrelenting aggression.

Ren sighed Because. Beast-Class monsters were tough, especially with their annoying ability to convert MP into HP. But he was a little bit confident. Now that he was at level 35, he had enough skills and strategy to take it down without using too many potions—or dying.
He activated Conceal first, which made him invisible. Slowly, he moved around the boulder, studying the Razorhorn Boar. The beast snorted as if picking up his scent, its black eyes scanning the area. Ren's heart was beating fast, but he gripped his blades tightly, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Then the Conceal skill wore off, and the boar locked eyes with him. That was exactly what he had aimed for. As the boar charged at him, Ren waited until the last second, then turned sharply and activated Back Stab. The skill teleported him behind the beast, causing it to crash into the boulder. The impact reduced the monsters HP by 20. Ren followed up with a Counter Strike, bringing down the beast's HP down by another 19, leaving it's total at 311.
The beast recovering from the strike, now enraged, activated its Powerful Charge skill, and charged at Ren. With no shadows nearby to use Shadow Step, Ren was forced to act quickly. He calculated the angles of the sun and the shifting shadows, realizing the beast's shadow would reach him before its tusk. Timing it perfectly, he activated Shadow Step, then reappeared behind the Razorhorn.
He attacked with force, aiming for a critical strike, but only managed to reduce its HP to 200. Furious, the beast used its Sharp Tusk skill, causing its tusks to enlarge. Ren tried to dodge, but the boar's tusk grazed him near his chest, dropping his HP from 120 to 80. It was painful and agonising.
He quickly drank a recovery potion, which would restore 10 HP per minute for the next five minutes and lessen the pain.
Now, after the exchange of attacks, the Razorhorn's HP was at 200, with its MP reduced to 50. Ren's HP stood at 80, while his MP was 70.
He let out a sigh as sweat dripped down his head from the battle. Looking at the beast, he was annoyed, but at least he hadn't died yet. The beast, on the other hand, was catching its breath. Now Ren charged to the beast with both blade in his hand's, and the beast also charged at him. As he got closer, he slid under the blade and pierced his sword through its belly, landing what looked like a critical hit. The beast's HP dropped by 100. Because the attack was a critical hit.
Ren quickly stood up, jumping up and landing on the monster. Using his other sword, he stabbed it at the back of its head. The monster's HP dropped to zero, and it laid lifeless. Ren stood over the fallen beast, panting now ready to leave, when suddenly, the ground trembled beneath him. The Razorhorn Boar rose again, its once-depleted health restored as its MP converted into HP—thirty points worth of it. The beast's black eyes locked onto him once more, and the fight was far from over.
It charged at Ren from behind. He tried to activate *Back Stab*, but the tusk caught him. The tusk tore through his abdomen, and a cold, sticky warmth spread through his chest. Blood seeped from the wound, coating his clothes, while dizziness began to cloud his vision. He reappeared behind the beast with a hole in his stomach and blood dripping from his mouth. His HP was rapidly draining.
Desperation coursed through him as he reached into his inventory and drank the full recovery potion. The warmth of the healing liquid spread through his body, mending the hole in his stomach and restoring his HP to 120, and his MP refilled. His rage flared—this battle would end now.
With a growl of fury, Ren raised his sword and stabbed it into the side of the boar's head, again and again. Each strike was fueled by his anger, each strike fueled by fury until the beast died.
Breathing heavily, Ren stood over the fallen monster, the tension finally leaving his body. It was over.
