Chapter 2 - Trust broken

"You are lying" Elia refused to believe him, "I know that you are lying" Trusting the words of someone who cheated on her was stupid. She tried to dismiss it as nothing. He was saying this to hurt her more, She was sure of it. Because if she acknowledged his words as truth, then her entire life would come crashing down. The only memory she had of her late mother was this house. It was her 'Home' Losing this place meant losing herself.

Jake however didn't seem to have any sympathy for the woman he had claimed to love just the other day, "I don't care if you believe me or not, this house belongs to Lorna and there is nothing you can change about it"

Lorna too chimed in as she looked at Elia, "You should leave now, sister. Please don't force Jake to forcibly throw you out, he is not that kind of a man"

Jake smiled upon hearing those words. Then he cast a disgusted gaze towards Elia, "Lorry is right, Elia. You don't deserve a house like this, leave before I call the security. I can't promise what they might do, it will be better for you to keep your dignity as Lorna's sister"

"Step sister," Elia said having heard enough. She wiped the tears streaming down her face, while her stupid glasses clouded making it difficult for her to see. Nonetheless, she maintained a calm face as she repeated, "Lorna is and will always be my step-sister, she can never become my real sister. She is a home-wrecking bitch that fucked You....." She pointed at Jake, "And You on the other hand is garbage that cannot be recycled"

Jake and Lorna glared at her as she added, "Why didn't I realize this before? You two indeed make a great pair. Trash belongs with another trash"

"Elia!" Jake shouted seething in anger but she remained unfazed.

"Oh, shut up!" Elia yelled back at him, "Don't you raise your voice at me, you bloody prick. You are nothing to me now, your bastard, it will be better to keep your voice down while addressing me, I have had enough of your bullshit"

"Sister, please....." Came Lorna's overly sorrowful voice, "Please don't make a scene, I only love Jake, what is it that I did so wrong?"

"Right, Elia. Why are you making such a big deal out of this?" Jake muttered, "Is it so hard for you to accept the fact that I don't love you?"

Elia scoffed almost bursting out into laughter, "Yes, what you say is true. You never loved me, you are a narcissistic prick who only loves himself. Hey Lorna" She called her stepsister, "Don't delude yourself, you are not the only woman he has been with throughout our relationship" That made Jake's eyes widen. He looked at Elia in shock while the latter snickered.

"You thought I didn't know? Really Jake? All those lipstick marks on your shirts that I personally washed, your used condoms that I found in your car bunker, pictures and chats from more than a dozen different women on your phone" The more she talked, the more worse she felt, "I tolerated all of that because I thought they were affairs that didn't mean much to you. You were my fiance, at the end of the day, only I could stand beside you. That was my mistake, I should have never trusted you"

Her heart ached so much. From a young age, she was deprived of love. Her clothes, room, shoes, everything was snatched away by Lorna. Her father ignored his biological child and supported his new wife and her daughter. The only light in her dreary life had been Jake. He became her friend when no one else did, agreed to marry her when all others rejected and always heard and consoled her when she shared her grief. He was present when she was at her lowest so she decided to do the same for him.

"I kept on forgiving you" A hundred times, she turned a blind eye to his cheating and his disdain-filled look toward her. At one point, Jake changed but she did not. She had been true to herself and always loved him...but not anymore, "You broke my trust over and over again. Yet I forgave you"

Jake's eyes wavered. Elia never looked at him like that. She had always gazed at him with adoration, it somehow made him uncomfortable receiving hate from her.

"Lorna" Elia said looking at her stepsister, "You can have, Jake. I don't care about him anymore and as my punishment for trusting someone like him, you can keep my house too. You are good with handling used stuff after all"

Then she turned to Jake, "I hope I never meet you again, Jake Spencer"

With that, Elia turned around before walking out of the room while Jake hastily got up from his place.

"Lia, wait!" he was about to rush towards the former but was stopped by Lorna holding his wrist.

Lorna looked at him with a hurt look on her face, "You don't mean to chase after her right, Jake?"

"It's not that...."

"Don't go, Jake" Lorna said cutting in, "You know she doesn't deserve your concern. She is just acting up for now, she will soon calm down"

Jake frowned, but soon his expression hardened, "Right, why should I worry about that stupid woman?"
