Chapter 7 - Silence

At one point, Elia stopped breathing completely as she became hyper-aware of the man behind her. His stealthy hands holding her made her almost pass out. When she briefly moved her gaze down, she could see the same clawed hands pawing at her like she was prey that was ready to be skinned.

When Elia confirmed her doubts that It was the same Feral man that had attacked the creep, she held her breath in terror. His constant breathing, though that was against her neck, made her shiver, and his firm hand claiming her thigh sent her mind into a frenzy. He was creeping up her skirt in a way that felt violating. A sudden and yet obvious thought flashed in her mind. Was she about to get assaulted?

That thought alone would send any woman into survival mode. The same happend with Elia, she started to struggle as hard as she could and recalled every self-defense class she had taken. She tried to hit him, scratch and kick him but nothing worked. The man was like a rock that wouldn't move no matter how much she tried.

"Let me go!" She felt like she was saying this sentence a lot today. Just her luck, she was facing two creeps in a single day. And this creep, this Feral man was too powerful for her to fight off. He didn't even flinch in return to her erratic movements and kept a firm hold around her. By now, tears started to stream down her eyes in fear, but it froze when she felt the man licking it away.

"Don't cry, mate. I'm here; I will keep you safe," he said in a gruff voice, making Elia completely break down.

"You disgusting bastard! Get off of me" Elia wanted to vigorously rub her face where he had licked, "I will fucking kill you!"

What was she? A damn popsicle that he could lick? Elia was beyond furious. She struggled even more and tried to injure him in the process but Eros remained unfazed. His muddled mind was completely under his wolf's control. He had found his mate and there was nothing that could keep her away from him.

But he thought wrong because as soon as it ended, Eros felt a blunt force hitting the back of his head, making him stumble and release Elia.

"Leave me!....." Elia's words came to a halt when the hold on her got loose and she fell forward due to that sudden movement.

"Ugh!" Eros held his head, trying to keep his balance. It was like something snapped back in his head, as his wolf's influence dulled, confusion started to form in his mind. He looked around in a daze while his head still stung.

"Elia! Get up! We must leave now!" Another voice broke through gaining both of their attention.

Elia looked up and caught a familiar face urging her, "Stand up damn it!" It was Lena. She was here, she had saved her from this stranger's clutches. Grateful tears gathered in her eyes, but before she could spill them, Lena hauled her from the ground before dragging her somewhere.

"We must be fast, he will recover soon!" Lena shouted, bringing Elia back to her senses. She urgently looked towards the Feral man and flinched seeing him glare at her. It might be her imagination, but he seemed a little more subdued than he was before. Now, he looked at her in skepticism as though he didn't know what he was doing here.

Elia turned back and soon got inside Lena's car with the latter's constant urging.

"Wait!" She briefly heard the man's voice and that made her peek through the window. There in the distance, he stood like a statue while his serene blue eyes seemed chaotic.

Elia slowly returned to her seat and looked down at her hands. They were shaking uncontrollably and didn't stop even when she pressed them together. Today had left her completely shaken. It was the worst day she could have imagined. Her life seemed to turn towards the worse and it was getting more and more difficult trying to keep up a positive stance.

However, she remembered about her escape from two bad situations and felt thankful. Not everyone gets that chance. Her guardian angel seemed to be working overtime today; not only did she help her choose a dress, but she also consoled her when she was at her lowest and once again came to save her as soon as she called. Lena was her guardian angel.

"Thank you so much for saving me, Lena" Elia expressed her heartfelt gratitude, "I don't know what would have happened to me if it weren't for you"

Lena briefly glanced at Elia before turning her attention back to driving, "It's alright. How are you by the way? Did that man do something to you?"

Elia sighed, "You saved me at the right time

.. thankfully. It still frightens me when I remember, I wish no woman ever goes through something like that" Then her fear turned into anger, "I'm going to report that bloody club as soon as I return to the city"

"Don't bother; the cops will do nothing," Lena replied, making Elia frown.

"Why is that?"

Lena shrugged, "They are like that; when I tried to report them, they did the same. Darkmoon Club is not something we can touch"

"I don't understand" Elia was flabbergasted, "How can they do that? This is a serious case, two men tried to assault me and both of them were from that place"

Lena clenched her palms against the steering wheel, "Darkmoon club belongs to the Donovan family, even the government thinks twice before crossing them. It is not easy for us to file a complaint against them"

Elia went silent hearing that for a long time and the only thing she asked was, "Then what do you suppose I do?"

"Nothing." Lena's voice was resolute and so firm that there was no leave away for any arguments, "Never go there again; that is the best thing you can do. Stay as far away as you can from the Donovans and anything that has to do with them"

Elia couldn't help but laugh, "You make them sound like they are some kind of a Mafia"

Lena smiled in return but was clear with her warning, "They are worse than the Mafia, people go missing more with the Donovans than any Mafia"

Elia nodded, but something flashed in her mind, "Lena, I saw something weird back there; that man had furry hands with claws...."

'Screech' the car came to a sudden halt when Lena heard Elia's words. The former looked aghast as she turned to Elia, "You saw that?"

Elia didn't know how to react and held her seat tightly, "I mean, I must have been wrong; how could a human being have claws, right?"

Lena pursed her lips as she combed her hair back in frustration, "Elia? What the hell happened that made you see that? They are very careful in public, so how.....?" She went on rambling to herself, seemingly trying to make sense of what she had just heard. Then when she finally came to some conclusion, she looked directly at Elia with a serious look on her face.

"Forget everything you saw today. I mean everything, don't talk about it to anyone, delete it from your mind. Okay?"

Elia smiled awkwardly, "Okay I guess"

Lena huffed, "I'm serious"

"Serious.....right" Elia nodded, "I will forget it"

Only when she received Elia's promise did Lena restart the car.

.....

Meanwhile, back in the Darkmoon club, a man looked at Eros as he was tending to his injuries.

"What the heck happend to you?" The man asked getting a scowl in return from Eros.

The latter dunked the cotton with alcohol before pressing it against the back of his head. Someone definitely did a number on him, "I don't know, I was here one moment and then I was standing in some unknown place with an injury"

"Did you see the one that attacked you?"

Eros nodded, "It was a human girl"

That caught Samuel's attention. He sat on the couch across from Eros and reclined lazily. He had a face quite similar to Eros but also distinct. While Eros was rough-looking with messy hair that reached his neck, Samuel had a clean and sophisticated cut. He had a sharp grey suit on that looked out of place in a nightclub.

"A human girl?" He chuckled, "You got injured by a human girl?"

Eros snarled at him, "Shut it; it was not like I was in my senses when it happened" he was already feeling like shit when he recalled how he was left alone on the road when the last thing he remembered was going to seduce the human girl that had dared to come to his club. What went on that he ended up getting hit by that puny being? He didn't know.

Samuel picked up his scotch glass and swirled the ice in it before speaking, "I heard that you attacked Edgar because he was flirting with that human"

Eros was taken aback, "Me?" Then he scoffed, "What nonsense; why would I attack him, and that too for a human?"

"The entire club saw it," Samuel explained, "I saw it in the CCTV camera; you almost beat him to death. How can you not remember?"

"Well I don't" Eros sighed, "I really don't remember"

Samuel took a sip, "Well, it doesn't matter. Edgar is in the pack hospital, and we have to clean this mess up before it reaches Ash," he continued after a brief pause, "You.....almost turned, and that human girl saw it. We better silence her before she goes on blabbering about it to the world"
