Layla looked at the vampire beside her, of course, she was his pet and he was her master, there was no turning back she had to do this to save her aunt, Her parent died when she was younger and she couldn't bear to lose another relative that cared for her. She was sitting on the couch and playing carefully with her hands, she had expected to see Draven and also never expected him to be a vampire what if he remembered who I was?, why would I be so careless of talking so recklessly without realizing who he was? Her thoughts raced through her mind as she thought about what transpired, she looked towards Vaughn seeing him so busy sorting documents and scribbling notes on them. She hadn't expected vampires to be so busy she had always thought they were nonchalant, she wondered how her aunt might be fairing.
Vaughn looked at Layla and noticed she was busy in her thoughts, he could also hear her beats, could it be she was thinking about what he told her a few minutes ago? He hadn't meant what he said, he said that to tease but hadn't expected the human to take it seriously. His mind drifted to his Father who was the commander in Veinagh City and as a vampire, the Lord always wanted his sons to kill humans and take them as slaves so they wouldn't run out of blood in the city. Time really flies, a young Vaughn played along his mother with his brother but time has turned paths, and now the father has announced that he wants someone to take over the throne if he proves himself worthy. Draven as the first son always wanted to be the heir to the throne, but right doesn't matter now. He ran his hands over his hair being done sorting the documents she stood up carrying them out, and he gazed at the human whose head was low, he had always wondered what made her scared of him, these days he wasn't harsh on her, he wouldn't risk losing a second pet and she seemed special so he would be keeping her for a very long time. He walked out of the room not saying a word to her as he walked up to the large room where the father sat."Father" he The chair turned around as a man with big red pupils turned around, blood was by the side of his mouth, and a young girl with blood dripping from her neck stood by.
He wasn't surprised; this had always been his father's behavior after losing his wife.
"Get out!" he shouted at the young girl. She walked out immediately, her hand held around her neck.
"What brings you here, son?" he asked, wiping clean the blood with his tongue. Vaughn moved, handing over the document, as Vlad took the document, examining it."Nice work, son," he said.
Vaughn turned around to leave before Vlad said, "You haven't introduced your pet to me."Vaughn turned around, gazing at his father. He clenched his fist, controlling his anger, before he said, "The same way you killed Mom."Vlad paused, readjusting his posture. "I didn't kill her; I was not myself," he exclaimed. "Why can't you forget about this and move forward?" he remarked.
Vaughn chuckled lightly. "Sometimes I wonder if you're still the father I knew you used to be, but now I realize you are nothing but a monster. You never loved Mom, because as soon as she was dead, you married another woman."
Vlad stood, his hand sinking into his son's neck, blood emitting from them. "How dare you, Vaughn?" he said."If you insist on killing me like Mother, go ahead," Vaughn said, resting his backward. He removed his hands, his fingers stained with blood, and he staggered backward as he faced his son.
"Vaughn, you really have to stop behaving this way."
"As long as that bastard called a mother is here, then forget about me being your son," Vaughn announced."
I married her to keep the throne; you have to understand," Vlad mentioned. Vaughn raised his face. "So the throne is more important than your wife? I'm disappointed to have you as a father. If you have no reason for keeping me here, I better leave," he said, turning around.
"Be here tomorrow by dawn; the councils will be gathering," Vlad mentioned.
He left, hearing the last words of his father. Time had gone far; it was night. He walked fast, wondering what Layla would do now that he was not around. He pressed the code as he entered the room, looking around to see Layla gazing at the window. Her long grey hair flowed down, and her figure from behind looked enchanting. Layla heard the door open and turned around to see Vaughn. He had left without informing her where he was going and had come late, which was unusual of him.
Vaughn looked at her before saying, "Why are you still awake?" he asked.
Layla stood up from where she was standing and stood before him, saying, "Nothing."He ignored her and walked towards the wardrobe, removing his shirt and wearing a new one.
He went to his bed and lay there, Layla followed suit and lay on the couch. Vaughn stared at the ceiling; minutes had passed, and he still heard the breath of the human, meaning she hadn't slept yet. He moved his gaze to her; she was lying with her hands clutched tightly, as usual. He laid there and closed his eyes tightly, but sleep seemed not to work. He stood up, as the human seemed to be asleep. He moved closer to her, adjusting her body, as he lay beside her, inhaling her fragrance, which soon made him drift off to sleep.
