Chapter 4 - A Brief World History

---

Time passed quickly as the seasons changed. With that, I am now 3 years of age. I can walk and talk properly—no more just sleeping all day. Thanks to the abundance of mana here, my physical body is strong enough to handle some exercises and other physical activities. I've also grown tall; people back in my previous world would think I was 10 years old just from first impressions.

I've mostly spent this time learning about the history of the world. Its rich culture is definitely something worth studying, especially the other races that exist on Xylaris. The world is apparently multiple times larger than Earth, divided by 4 main oceans and 6 continents. From what I've learned, the sizes of each continent could roughly fit the entire landmass of Earth, and it still wouldn't be enough. The continents, from largest to smallest, are:

1. The Dragon Continent: As the name suggests, it is completely inhabited by draconic-type creatures.

2. The Titan Continent: Like the dragons, Titans are also an extremely powerful species, blessed with great power from birth.

3. The Silver Continent: This is where most elves, fairies, and fae people live, alongside their kingdoms and empires.

4. The Iron Continent: This is the continent I'm a part of. It's called that because of the large, really large, amounts of iron present here. Additionally, the continent naturally possesses numerous mineral deposits that are exploited by humans.

5. The Djinn Continent: This continent is inhabited by the Djinn. These beings are unique as they are innately born with the ability to command mana, making them incredibly strong.

6. The Beast Continent: Although the smallest in size, it has the largest number of living beings. It's filled to the brim with various unique species and even divine beasts, apparently.

The world has Ten Superpowers that are the strongest factions. I didn't expect our country to rank among them, but it does. Our country, known as the High Republic, is the 2nd strongest and largest human faction. It is beaten only by the Imperium. However, the two factions aren't too far apart in strength. The Imperium hates the High Republic, mostly because our country is the most open-minded about various things. The way I learned it, the High Republic is kind of like America from my previous world, while the Imperium is like China and North Korea combined.

The world also has the top ten strongest organizations, primarily manned by a few extremely powerful individuals. I'm talking about people who can cause entire cities to be erased with their power. My father is also part of that exclusive group. Our family business, which centers around magi-weapon technology, is one of those top-tier elite organizations. I even heard they've made nuclear-class weapons for the Republic to use against the Imperium. Damn, magic is just incredible.

Of course, destruction isn't the only thing our engineers work on. Most of the high-tech magitek is also produced by us, which means total monopoly. There goes my dream of using tech from my previous world. I painfully learned that this world's tech is more or less the same as in my previous world. They also have things like computers, planes, tanks, and even spaceships. From what I've seen, it might not take this world much time before it becomes a multi-planetary species. That's insane. Now that I think about it, I'm quite lucky to be born into this household.

The current world seems sufficiently peaceful and has remained that way for at least 300 years, which I think is good. I wouldn't want to grow up in a wartime period where things could become dicey at any moment. I really like peace, but if there does come a day when war suddenly starts, I hope to be prepared for it.

The top three strongest organizations are held by the Arcane Association, the Dungeon Association, and the Magitek Association. These are basically the giant corporations of this world, much like Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia back on Earth. These organizations can rival any kingdom or empire in this world.

Another thing I really like about this world is its magic system. It's not brain-dead or simple like I thought it might be. I would've been disappointed if it were. Magic here actually has real laws that it follows. One common law I found, that energy cannot be destroyed but only transformed, holds true in this world. Mana cannot be dispelled or destroyed; it only takes a different form. Since the very building blocks of reality—the atoms, neutrons, protons, and electrons—are all formed and made by mana, manipulating and cleverly controlling it means one can basically do anything. From the books I've read, I learned there are four steps to master before fully manipulating mana:

1. Strong Will: One needs to believe in what they want to change in reality; otherwise, it won't work.

2. Visualization or Imagination: I excel at this step. With a vivid imagination, it becomes much easier to create what we need and want from mana.

3. A Clear and Serene Mind: The mind must be free of distractions while working on mana manipulation. I mean, you can't think of something else when you're doing something critical. That's the same as thinking of your crush during an exam—you'll fail in both.

4. This is the simplest one. Its all about access you need enough mana to do what you want to do, Without access to Mana you cannot do what you want to do.

"Sweetie, come! We need to go quickly," my mother called. We were going to visit my grandparents from both sides of my family. I heard they were also quite important and powerful people. I did see them through that magitek device that works a lot like a phone but is known as an Omniscriber. Weird name, but I don't judge. I soon followed call of my mother as i closed the book i was reading.
