Chapter 5 - Joy turning to Sorrow

A small-sized, handsome young man stood in front of a black lizard. To the lizard, he appeared to be the same size as it.

He had enchanting black hair, and his sparkling black iris was shocking.

"You are a guy," the black lizard said, its jaws opening wide like a pipe.

"Close your mouth, or flies will enter," the small, black-haired young man snickered.

Daniel closed his mouth in embarrassment before his expression turned frosty.

"How dare you trick your host? You have violated the law," Daniel complained.

He had thought the system spirit was a lady. It turned out he had been played by the system, which had a male spirit.

"Which law?" The male system spirit rolled his eyes. "It seems you need to go to the hospital; you must have some mental issues."

Daniel was triggered by this. He carried his lizard body as he charged toward the male system spirit.

He used his Claw Skill to attack it but was shocked that he caused no harm. It was as if he had pierced through cotton—so soft that he couldn't cause any damage.

Daniel felt angry at being played yet helpless that he could do nothing. He snorted at this and began to reassess the system spirit.

Why was he so handsome? Also, how could he make such a feminine sound before? He looked at the system spirit weirdly.

The system spirit also noticed this, looking at Daniel with bafflement. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Tell me, are you gay?" Daniel asked suspiciously.

Silence fell over the cave they were in before a long cry erupted, "God forbid! I reject it!"

Daniel was baffled by this noise. He was also familiar with this tone of voice; it was something that was engraved in him.

"F*ck your ass! How can I be gay? I'm a full-fledged man, forming my harem of beauties," the system spirit snorted.

Now Daniel was getting even more confused. He looked at the system spirit oddly.

"Where did you learn that from?" Daniel began to question his system spirit.

This system had first tricked him. Now that he thought about it, this method was familiar to him.

"From you," the system said sheepishly.

"Wait, what do you mean?" He looked at the system. He didn't understand how he had taught the system this because there was no memory of it. Unless...

The system coughed when he saw Daniel looking at him vigilantly before bursting into laughter. "No need to be vigilant toward me. Our fates are tied. If you die, I die, so there's no reason for me to harm you."

"As for why I was able to say these words, it's from your previous words. I am a spirit generated based on your personality and know almost everything about your life on Earth."

Daniel found this unbelievable. So, he was like an open book before the system? But Daniel didn't want to believe it.

"Hmph, provide proof that this is so," Daniel snorted, his lizard face scrunching up.

The system spirit looked at him and saw the unwillingness to believe in Daniel's eyes. Then, his lips curled into a smirk.

"Then I will tell you the proof," the system spirit snickered.

"I'm sure you will remember a girl named Joy," the system spirit said slyly.

The name "Joy" seemed to prick Daniel. His mood went down a bit, and this didn't escape the system's eyes.

"Hmph, who's that? I have no recollection of that name," Daniel proved his strong-headedness, pretending not to have any idea of this.

The system spirit saw this and snorted internally. "I wonder how long you'll keep pretending," he thought.

"That fine young girl during your 300 level in school, the one you had a crush on. It was as if she was your perfect dream ideal."

"Immediately after you set your eyes on her, you fell in love. Tch, what do they call it again? Yes, love at first sight. Even though she was in another department, you always found ways to discuss with her."

Daniel's eyes now beheld shock. This was the deepest secret of his life. It was kind of an embarrassment, and since then, Daniel hasn't liked ladies as much.

"Don't worry, I'm just starting," the system spirit said slyly. Daniel coughed in shock.

"That time, whenever you thought of her, you always hugged your bedsheets, imagining them as her before you slept."

"Then it all turned around one day when you couldn't take it anymore. You went to ask her out, and she told you to meet her at a certain restaurant."

"From her name, Joy, it seemed joy had already descended. This was your thought as you were delighted, jumping up and down like a frog. Even people who didn't know you could tell something was wrong with you."

"Ahem, that's okay. Speaking of which, I remember now," Daniel's lizard face forced a smile.

"Well, I want to continue," the system spirit snickered.

"Why the hell do you want to continue?" Daniel roared out.

"Well, we can't stop. Someone might be listening and might want to hear this to the end. You know it's not good to leave a story halfway," the system spirit pouted. Black lines appeared on Daniel's lizard face.

He tried to stop the system from talking again, but he couldn't even touch the system, let alone hurt it.

"So where did I stop? Oh yes, it turned out you wore the best clothes you had, even checked the mirror countless times to make sure you looked okay."

"After getting there, you saw her hugging another man at the restaurant. Your maiden heart felt shattered," the system spirit giggled at this.

"You went to confront her, asking why. She then told you that he was her boyfriend and that you were too low for her, blah blah blah."

"But that wasn't the end of your story. On your way home, you encountered a rat, a cat, and a dog, who all bit you with force."

At this moment, the system spirit was already rolling on the floor, laughing out loud.

Daniel felt his cheeks heating up from embarrassment. How naive he was back then.

It turned out that he didn't meet Joy, but sorrow.
