Knowing that it was because of him, Arthur felt scared, and what he had said hurt Arthur as well. Trying to calm himself down, Kai began to feel guilty.
"My mistake. I shouldn't have acted like that… Forgive me," Kai said with a neutral expression, acknowledging his mistake.
Hearing Kai's words, Arthur suddenly calmed down. He looked at Kai, shocked—because before this, Kai had never apologized to him, not even once.
Arthur also knew about Kai's unusual behavior. He had seen it in the past, where Kai reacted differently than his usual self many times.
"It's fine, I guess. We both have some bad pasts," Arthur replied in a normal tone, giving a slightly awkward smile.
Hearing Arthur's words, Kai was surprised. He realized that because of his unusual behavior, Arthur had figured out that something must have happened in his past. But what confused Kai was when Arthur said, we both have some bad pasts.
Kai had known Arthur from the moment Arthur was born. Kai had been there the whole time. Then why did Arthur say something like that? Kai thought for a moment.
"You were born just a few days ago, right? Before I met you?" Kai asked with a serious expression.
Seeing Kai's serious face didn't affect Arthur much, as he was already used to it—it was Kai's normal expression.
"Yes, before we met, I was actually born just a few days earlier," Arthur replied, not realizing that his words didn't make sense to Kai.
"So how can you have a past then? You were just born a few days ago," Kai questioned, gazing at Arthur.
"Huh…?" Hearing Kai's question, Arthur realized he had made a mistake.
"Well, that's… uh…" Arthur hesitated, trying to think of an excuse.
Kai sighed deeply. "I'm not forcing you, but if you tell me how it's possible for you to have a past even though you were just born, I'll tell you what happened to the snake that attacked us and how I freed myself from its freezing skill," Kai said, offering Arthur a deal, knowing that he was hiding something.
"Ahh…" Arthur hesitated.
"Well, it's because I'm reincarnated! Hahaha… haha," Arthur quickly said, laughing nervously.
"Oh… okay…" Kai replied, looking straight ahead and starting to walk forward with his usual neutral expression.
Seeing Kai just start walking normally after he had revealed one of the biggest secrets of his life, Arthur widened his eyes in disbelief and yelled, "Are you an idiot?! I just told you one of the biggest secrets of my life!"
Hearing Arthur's words, Kai stopped and looked back at him.
Realizing that he had just called Kai an idiot, Arthur quickly placed his left hand over his mouth in shock. But seeing Kai's normal reaction, Arthur understood that Kai wasn't angry at all.
"So, you're a reincarnated one, huh?" Kai said, looking at Arthur.
"Yes, that's why I have a bad past. I remember my previous life," Arthur replied with a serious tone.
"I understand. I actually considered that possibility," Kai said in a normal tone, telling Arthur that he had already thought about the possibility that Arthur was reincarnated and remembered his past life.
"What?! You already knew?" Arthur asked, surprised.
"Yes, I knew," Kai replied. Then, raising his hand, a letter cover suddenly appeared in his hand out of thin air. It was the same letter cover that Arthur had hidden on the top ground where he was born.
Seeing Kai hand him the letter cover that he had completely forgotten about, Arthur's eyes widened in shock. "So you knew…" Arthur asked, still in disbelief.
"Yes… I was standing near your egg before you were even born. I was watching you from the start, remaining unseen by your eyes," Kai explained, Revealing that he had known everything about Arthur from the moment Arthur was born
"Oh… I see," Arthur replied, taking the letter cover from Kai's hand. Looking at it, he muttered, "I actually forgot about the letter, you know."
"Yeah, I thought this letter was important to you. So after the top ground we stood on collapsed, I tried to find it. But after finding the letter, I saw the snake trying to kill you," Kai explained, revealing why he wasn't there when the top ground collapsed. Arthur had thought Kai had disappeared, but in reality, Kai had been searching for his letter.
"Oh, so that's what you were doing after the top ground collapsed," Arthur replied.
"Yeah," Kai confirmed.
"Wait… why aren't you shocked to hear that I'm reincarnated? Is reincarnation and remembering past lives normal in this world?" Arthur asked, surprised.
"No, it's not normal. But I heard from my father that there are actually some individuals in this world who have also reincarnated. However, it's pretty rare. I'd recommend not telling others about your reincarnation unless you fully trust them," Kai replied.
"Oh… okay…" Arthur nodded.
"Let's go," Kai said, starting to walk again.
"Wait! You still haven't told me how you escaped the snake's freezing skill or what happened to the snake!" Arthur asked, gazing at Kai.
"Oh, about that… but I gave you your letter cover, so I don't think I need to tell you that," Kai replied, implying that the letter cover was enough in exchange.
"What?! No! You said you would tell me, so you have to!" Arthur protested, reiterating Kai's own words.
"Hm… okay, I'll tell you. Kata, show yourself," Kai nodded and commanded.
Hearing Kai's words, an old man suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Yes, my lord," Kata said, bowing in front of Kai.
Seeing an old man appear out of nowhere, Arthur was shocked.
"Huh…? A human?!" Arthur exclaimed. It was the first time since he was born in this world that he had seen a person.
"No, he's a demon," Kai replied, saying that Kata wasn't human but a demon.
"A demon?!" Arthur reacted in shock.
"Yes, and he works for me," Kai nodded.
"He works for you…?" Arthur asked, still surprised.
"Yes," Kai confirmed.
"Give him the letter cover. You don't have anywhere to hide it, so Kata will take care of it. And His name is Kata," Kai said, telling Arthur that Kata would keep the letter safe.
After a bit of thinking, Arthur replied, "Kata… oh… okay. Here, please take care of my letter cover. It's important to me."
Kata took the letter cover from Arthur's hand and placed it in his side pocket without saying anything.
"You can go now, Kata," Kai commanded.
"Yes, my lord," Kata replied before vanishing again, blending into the dungeon light and becoming invisible.
