The decision to continue the fight was difficult, but Vinz and Alicia had no choice but to face the path that had been laid before them. As the greatest secret was revealed, they felt closer than ever to the destruction of Vortex and the corrupt system that upheld their power. Yet, a dark shadow appeared. There was no one they could trust anymore.
Vinz stared at the holographic display showing an image of Maximus. The commander who had fought alongside them for years had now become the most dangerous enemy. Maximus' decision to betray them hadn't happened overnight—it was part of a much larger game orchestrated by the criminal network far bigger than they had imagined.
They met one final time, in an underground room brightly lit by scattered neon lights. Maximus stood at the center, his expression calm, as if nothing had changed.
"I'm disappointed in you," Maximus said, his voice cold and emotionless. "You were naive, Alicia. Did you really think you could destroy this?"
Vinz felt as though the world was crashing down. "You want to destroy us just like that?"
Maximus chuckled softly. "It's not me betraying you, Vinz. It's you who chose to trust an outdated system. We, the true leaders, are the ones who shaped this world."
Every word Maximus spoke only weighed heavier on their hearts. Exposing the betrayal should have brought satisfaction, but instead, they felt deeper sadness. They wondered if their allies, too, had been played by Maximus and the larger forces behind him.
But that feeling was only temporary. "You must be held accountable, Maximus," Alicia said firmly. She wouldn't let Maximus get away.
Vinz gestured to his soldiers to encircle the room. It was time to strike back, no matter what it took—this betrayal had to end once and for all.
