Chapter 14 - The Final Assault

Despite the weight of their shattered trust, Vinz and Alicia continued on the path they had chosen. This time, they weren't just fighting their enemies but the very world that had been cloaked in lies.

Their target was clear—the skyscraper where the highest-ranking officials entangled in this network had gathered. Inside this building, the influence and control of Metronight's leaders, who had long been the kings of the underworld, were concealed. It was the most guarded, most difficult place to infiltrate—and what made it worse, they knew the system had been set in place for so long. A trap that had ensnared the entire city in its shadow of control.

The day of the assault came. On that morning, the sky over Metronight was as dark as the tension that hung in the air. A downpour of rain only heightened the oppressive atmosphere, as though nature itself sided with the chaos they were about to face. At two in the morning, when few could stand in their way, Vinz, Alicia, and their forces sneaked into the building. Ren, the hacker, stayed behind to assist them in bypassing the security systems, clearing the way.

By the time they reached the main entrance, a voice on their comms informed them that they had been detected by the enemy. "Elite forces are heading your way. Prepare for battle."

"Keep moving," Vinz said coldly. "Don't let them steer us off course."

In a brutal battle on every floor of the building, their forces clashed with the guards, who were trained to combat anyone attempting to breach the building. The doors were blocked, traps grew more numerous, but they would not falter. Every second took them closer to their ultimate goal—exposing the grand betrayal that had poisoned the city.

Finally, on the lowest floor of the building, they encountered Hector Darvon, the mastermind behind the entire conspiracy. Darvon greeted them with a mocking smile and invited them to come closer. "You really are fools, aren't you? So many sacrifices, so much bloodshed. And for what? To destroy a system that built you? You are mere stepping stones for my power," he said, filled with contempt.

Alicia and Vinz exchanged glances. They were staring into the eyes of someone they could no longer trust, but this was a trial they had to face. A battle not just against man, but the ideology that had pervaded the city for far too long.
