Chapter 59 - Is Being a Mistress the Perry Family Legacy?

Vivian was livid when she saw Selina purchase the piano and stormed toward her, ready to slap her.

"You scheming wretch!" she shouted.

Selina sidestepped, smirking coldly. "Oh? Is the white lotus act over?"

Vivian's expression darkened. "How dare a country bumpkin like you buy a piano? Can you even play it?"

Selina blinked innocently. "And who decided that someone must know how to play before buying one? You're upset because you wanted this piano, right? Too bad you're out of money, and a poor girl like me ended up buying it instead."

Vivian felt every word cutting into her pride, and her face twisted in rage. "You... you schemed against me yesterday! I haven't even started settling scores with you!"

Onlookers began to whisper, curious about the commotion.

Taking advantage of the attention, Vivian raised her voice confidently. "Apologize to me and give me the piano, and I'll pretend none of this ever happened!"

Selina's gaze was calm and piercing. "Vivian, you have the audacity to bring up yesterday? So, by your logic, I should step aside and let you have my husband. That would make you happy, wouldn't it?"

The crowd instantly understood the situation, their disdain for Vivian evident.

"So that's what this is about. She couldn't seduce the husband, so now she's harassing the wife," one person muttered.

Embarrassed and enraged, Vivian snapped, "You… you're lying! Logan hates scheming women like you. You don't deserve him!"

Selina turned her icy gaze toward Vivian. "It was Logan who rejected you, not me. But instead of confronting him, you're here throwing a tantrum at me. Did you mistake me for someone you can bully?"

She added with a faint smile, "By all means, try to take the piano. This store has cameras. Imagine the headlines: 'Heiress of Perry Family resorts to theft after overspending her allowance.' Sounds exciting, doesn't it?"

Vivian turned pale, breaking into a cold sweat. If such news spread, the Perry Family would disown her in disgrace.

She resorted to tears, wailing, "Selina, you think winning this round matters? Logan despises manipulative women! You're just a lowly country girl—this is all your fault!"

Selina's tone turned scornful. "Country girl? In the countryside, we don't have a tradition of stealing other women's husbands when seduction fails. Perry Family's standards truly broaden my horizons."

"You… you…" Vivian clutched her chest, seething with rage. She turned to her bodyguards and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Get her!"

The guards rushed forward, grabbing Selina by her wrists.

Vivian finally felt a glimmer of triumph, sneering. "Let's see how smug you are now! Take her away!"

Selina calmly glanced at Vivian, then skillfully twisted the wrist of one of the guards, ready to strike—

But just then, a resounding *bang* broke the tension.

Jack stormed in, kicking one guard to the ground and positioning himself protectively beside Selina.

The room froze as everyone's attention shifted to the doorway, where a tall figure emerged.

Logan stood there, his eyes glinting with cold fury. His voice, calm yet filled with an unspoken menace, resonated throughout the room.

"Miss Perry, have I ever told you what happens to those who cross me?"

Vivian felt a chill run down her spine. "L-Logan…" she stammered, shrinking back. But then she remembered—she wasn't at fault; Selina was! Summoning her courage, she began to cry, feigning innocence.

"Logan, Selina spent over three million dollars on a piano. I was just trying to be considerate and stop her from being so wasteful!"

Logan's gaze fixed on her, unyielding.

Vivian misinterpreted his attention as sympathy and spoke faster. "After all, Miss Clark isn't being careful with your money so soon after marriage. I only said something because I care. But then she…" Vivian's voice trembled as she began to sob dramatically.

Selina: "..."

Vivian had been the one snatching items Selina wanted, yet somehow twisted the narrative to make Selina the one squandering money?

It seems that knowing how to spin a story is truly an art form.

Logan looked at Selina. "You spent three million on a piano?"

Selina opened her mouth to explain that the money was her own, but before she could speak, Logan chuckled softly.

"A three-million-dollar piano caught your eye? I already told you—take the black card when you shop and buy something better."

He pressed a sleek black card into Selina's hand. She froze, unable to process what had just happened.

Logan gave her a black card? Was he still acting?

Vivian, witnessing this, stared wide-eyed, her expression twisting in disbelief and fury.

She shrieked, "Logan! How can you indulge Selina like this? She's vain, greedy, and manipulative! She tricked me into wasting ten million!"

Logan's voice remained calm. "Didn't she only trick you because you snatched her flute first?"

Vivian faltered, her words catching in her throat. "I... I…"

Logan's tone was cold but unhurried, carrying an undeniable authority. "Miss Perry, you're just an adopted daughter of the Perry Family. If an adopted daughter can casually waste ten million, but my wife spending three million is deemed excessive, perhaps the Perry Family has grown too comfortable and forgotten humility."

The store fell silent for a moment. Vivian looked like she might lose her mind, letting out a piercing scream.

"Logan! How can you compare me to that lowly woman? Look at her status and then look at mine! Even as an adopted daughter, I'm far more dignified than a backwater bumpkin like her!"

Tears welled in Vivian's eyes as she cried out, "I'm your sister! Why are you siding with Selina? What's so special about her?!"

Selina blinked at Vivian's tantrum, feeling unexpectedly amused.

She decided to poke a bit more fun and play along. Sliding her arm through Logan's, she batted her lashes and said with a sweet, teasing tone,

"Sure, I may be a country bumpkin—uncultured and inexperienced—but Logan just adores me that way. What can I say? Must be my looks."

She glanced at Vivian mockingly. "Miss Perry, let's be honest—your looks don't even compare. Why not consider some cosmetic surgery? Who knows, there might still be hope."

Logan watched Selina's performance, an almost imperceptible smirk tugging at his lips. Very good, Mrs. Reid. Your acting skills are improving.

Vivian couldn't take it anymore and burst into tears. "Logan, I've admired you for years! How could you let this woman trample all over me?!"

"You've admired me for years?" Logan's voice was icy. "If that's true, why wait until after I got married to confess? Your timing makes it seem like Perry Family's teachings include stirring up trouble. And, judging by this behavior, it seems the adopted daughters of the Perry Family share a penchant for becoming mistresses—it runs in the family."

Vivian froze as if struck, her face stiff with shock. "You... you…"

Selina tilted her head, intrigued. Perry Family's teachings? Adopted daughters share a penchant for becoming mistresses? Runs in the family?

But Logan was also a Perry by blood, and wasn't his mother that very adopted daughter? Why would he say such a thing?

As Vivian opened her mouth to retort, Selina let out an exaggerated sigh, her voice dripping with faux sweetness.

"Miss Perry, why don't you give up? You're young and can have any man you want. Why waste your time clinging to my husband? Is being the other woman that thrilling?"
