The next morning, sunlight crept into the room, filling every space and finding its way to the sleeping girl on the bed. Alena flapped her long lashes as she struggled to stay comfortable.
"Hello, Dad. Good morning, Holy Spirit," she stretched her body. Her smooth legs brushed the floor, creating a soft sound as she bent her knees. Placing her hands together, she closed her eyes, shutting out the world.
"O God, I reference you today for who you are, and there's none like you. Many died last night, but I'm here, healthy and sound, and that's all thanks to you. I humble myself before you, O Lord, and surrender myself to you, committing my life into your hands, even the parts my human thinking says are unnecessary. I still hand them over to you. Go with me, Lord, and make every rough road smooth for me. May I find favor in the sight of men, and may people witness your light in me. Amen." She opened her eyes, satisfied with her prayer, and stood up.
Alena quickly rushed into the bathroom and took her bath. In less than 20 minutes, she was done. "I think I should wear this, Holy Spirit. It looks good for the sunny weather," she said, picking a light, free top and trousers. "It's not as if I have many clothes," she added, dressing up and applying light makeup.
"I wish I took that cutie's number. Now I'm regretting it badly," Alena muttered as she stood by the road, feeling hopeless.
"Good morning, sir. Please, can you take me for a tour?" she asked but stepped back, recalling she didn't have any money in her
"Staying in an expensive school has made me think I'm rich," she cursed inwardly. She was about to walk away when she heard a voice in her head, "Just because you don't have the money to take a drive doesn't mean you can't take a ride."
She thought deeply about the words. "Yes, my Bible tells me that all the riches are mine, and Psalm 23 says, 'The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not lack.' I'm going for it," she decided, moving closer to the car, now more convinced of God's words.
"Sir, can I come in? I want to take a tour around" Alena asked, knowing she was penniless.
"Yes, child. I will take you to the best and most popular places here. I see you are new," he said, ushering her in.
"Yes, sir. I just arrived yesterday, and the places I've seen are truly wonderful...
and to say sir... you look so young and you are married and even have children," Alena observed, noticing a ring on his finger and a photo of a woman holding a boy and a girl. The girl looked like him, while the boy resembled his mother. She reached out to touch the photo hanging in the front of the car.
"Yeah," the man laughed. "Everyone says that, my daughter is my photocopy. And she's even pregnant now," he added, raising a brow at his last word.
"Your wife!" Alena said, amused.
"Yes, my wife," he laughed, seeing her expression.
"Wow that's beautiful"
"We've reached a place. This is the Love Gathering," he said, stopping the car. "It's a popular hangout spot for friends," he explained, seeing her confusion.
Nodding at the clearer explanation, she asked excitedly, "Can I take a look?"
"Of course, darling," he replied, smiling at her enthusiasm. He couldn't wait to tell his wife about meeting someone who reminded him of their late child.
Ryan and his wife had been heartbroken for years before God blessed them with another children after losing their first daughter in an accident. Now, seeing someone who reminded him of her made him emotional.
"OMG! This place is so beautiful, wonderful, out of the blue!" Alena exclaimed. The flowers were shaped like hearts. "Indeed, it deserves the name Love Gathering," she clapped her hands.
"See who I meet again" a familiar voice called out.
"Lexy!is that Lexy?"she hoped
If it's him, she will be very happy.
"Yes, dear," Lexy walked towards her, closing the distance between them.
"I thought I wouldn't get to see you again," she said sadly, unaware that they would meet more frequently since they were classmates, even with the crowd.
"Why would you say that? Oh, you don't know," he paused, raising his collar slightly.
"We are classmates, so even with the crowd, I will surely find you," he smirked.
"I'm excited tha…" she was interrupted by the driver who had been waiting for her. It had slipped her mind that someone was waiting.
"I'm sorry, sir. I'm coming," she gave Lexy a look and was about to leave when he drew her back.
"What happened? Why are you leaving?" he held her shoulder, waiting for an answer.
"I'm sorry, Lex. I wanted to take a tour to get familiar with the area, and the man who called me is the one who brought me earlier," she explained.
Lexy felt cold enter his spine when he heard her call him Lex, he tried to hide his excitement.
"Okay, let's go see him off, and then I'll take you for the best tour ever," he said, observing her and seeing she had no problem with that. He took her hand, and they went to meet Ryan.
"I'm sorry, sir. Thanks for your help, but I would love to go with him. And if it's about the money…" she was interrupted by Ryan.
"No! I don't want to take a penny from you, and it's okay. I hope you have fun," he said happily. Turning to Lexy, he added, "Ensure she has the best tour ever."
Alena's smile widened at his words. "Of course, thank you, sir."
"Thank you, sir," they said in unison.
Ryan entered his car and drove away.
"So, what means of transportation are we using?" she asked, not seeing a vehicle.
"By road," he answered, and they both laughed.
