Chapter 11 - "I Don't Want to Die" [2]

Gauging the strength put into Rodrick's father's punch and the seemingly lightning-fast reaction with the clear intent of avenging his son's demise or for his very own survival, Aeon surmised that this man was a superhuman… a godent blessed with body reinforcement-related ability.

Godent Abilities, in general, was a broad scale of varieties. Based on society's standards and what humanity had seen so far, these abilities could be vaguely categorized into four types: Inner-Type, in which the ability was drawn to benefit oneself; Outer-Type, which consisted of abilities that are mainly characterized as projectiles or anything that utilizes distance or vectors to reach the opposing targets; Hybrid-Type, where the godents could utilize the two in ways either possible or unimaginable; and last but not the least, Celestial-Type, which pertained to abilities that seemed unfathomable to be comprehended by the human mind.

In other words, the Celestial-Type godents possessed broken abilities.

Rodrick's father's eyes were momentarily bewildered, seeing Aeon casually catching his fist aimed at the heir of the Orion World.

However, this slight gap of thought didn't stop his desire to avenge his son's death.

"Die!"

The characteristic of star mana drawn out from the godent's soul was its unique and mesmerizing color of cosmos, resplendent, serene, and overwhelming.

Seeing this manifestation of star mana, Aeon let up his guard whilst Asahina remained seated at the table, reached for the cup of steaming hot coffee, and freely took a sip of it as though her life just now was not on the line.

Whoosh!

In the next moment, with Rodrick's father's barrage of enhanced attacks, the table itself split in half, and just from the mere shockwaves of the attacks, the surroundings looked as though burglars were thrashing through everything. However, to his surprise, Aeon continued to parry him to the point that this transgressor seemed to feel inexplicably irritated.

Standing in front of Asahina, Aeon's amethyst eyes exuded an intense, unusual focus.

"Bastard godent! You think you'll win?! If what you can do is to only defend that fragile, ruthless scum?!"

Bang!

Bang!

Fortunately, it seemed Rodrick's father's ability was limited to body strengthening, making it possible for Aeon to have a contest of power and defend Asahina with ease.

After almost a minute or two, the heir of the Orion World, while seated cross-legged behind Alina's mercenary, finally opened her mouth, "Aeon… I don't want to waste any more time."

"You bitch! Do you think y'all are getting out of here alive?! I'll snap your-"

Rodrick's father's scream of hatred that seemed to echo everywhere was halted… permanently so.

The next thing his eyes saw was that his vision flipped, seeing the ceiling's bright yellow lights below and his two-morning visitors above.

And even in the moments of his unprecedented and quick death, he sensed an ominous, incomprehensibly tranquil bloodlust from someone behind him.

Aeon…

…Who twisted his neck to death!

"I can't say you didn't deserve it. Hehe."

Before his hearing senses dissipated into nothingness, Rodrick's father heard a mocking, playful voice of the girl, whose entire existence seemed to have become an ethereal painting, albeit ephemeral.

"Are you all right, Miss Asahina?" Approaching her, Aeon asked.

Standing up from her seat, Asahina chuckled as she dusted off her pants.

"With you, I believe so."

Prancing around like an immature little sister in front of big brother, she then added,

"Let's go. I'll call in this mess, so no need to worry about the body."

Aeon lowered his head without saying a word. Leaving the house in casual strides, as he followed behind, Asahina began her usual mumblings.

But this time, it was a rather thought-provoking question.

"The society's indeed balanced, don't you think so?"

"…"

Receiving Aeon's professional silence, similar to how he usually was in front of Alina, Asahina continued,

"I would like to know what you think, Aeon."

Something that sounded like an order…

Hearing this, he couldn't help but respond, carefully so, "Yes, the current society could be viewed as balance. But I don't think everybody shares the same sentiment."

Contrary to what one might think, the specific Summit Rule regarding any form of slander against the heirs of the Seven World Corporations was not applicable outside of the Summit Academy.

If such a rule was also enforced to the masses, then there's a high chance that the world population would dwindle dramatically.

"It's not surprising. The society itself is perfect since there's a disagreement between two sides… like a coin which each side couldn't be separated."

As they walked down the same street where they came from, Asahina, without looking at Aeon, continued,

"But do you know? As absurd as the Summit Rules might be in the eyes of others, at least it's true to itself. The Summit Government isn't such a hypocritical head of society, unlike those in the Old World that only pretend to care about their people but only feed the rich."

"…"

Aeon only listened to her usual yet somewhat intriguing ideals.

"I like our history, you see."

After a while, they had decided to commit the punishment for the other one which the vote was… Bloodline Culling.

However, just as Aeon called Alina through his phone, as though the latter was waiting for it, they received a piece of information regarding Rodrick's family.

< You two missed two people. >

Alina's icy voice went on… that caused Aeon to halt his tracks because of what he just heard.

"What do you mean his seven-year-old daughter?"

Aeon's expression hardened.

< But don't worry. In case you don't know, if the parents are divorced, only the companion of the transgressing student in their home would be the one to receive the same fate. >

"…Then why did you call, Alina? You're scaring your handsome bodyguard." Asahina interjected, her voice echoed through the other side of the call.

As though she took a deep breath to deliver this news, Alina spoke in utter seriousness,

< Forget about Cain's entire bloodline… >

"We're just on our way there, what do-" Aeon's voice was then cut off.

< They're all dead. >
