The atmosphere was silent, no one said a word as they stared at the new arrivals. Most especially the new faces whose uniforms seemed to have been barely tainted by the horrors of the hell they had been sent to.
While their faces seem to lit upon recognizing the gold colored blazer and navy blue pants of Imperials High, Alex leading the two beside him… Their gazes instantly went through a 360 degrees turn upon settling on Flynn's hovering physique. Dressed in still clean uniforms like one who had just gone for a jog after a long boring class, the look in their eyes became that of inferiority ,while turning to glance at their own self.
A feeling called envy quickly manifested in their heart, enacting a look of scorn and disgust on their faces. Just the thought of a group of less privileged kids looking more clean and fit than them sparked irritation within their heart. Whilst some of them seemed not to care. Their expressionless and traumatized eyes hovering slightly on Flynn and Amelia before turning towards the trio which included the twins and red haired asian girl with hope reigniting in their eyes.
And as for Flynn, seeing the expected scornful look he had long since accustomed to and felt no feelings of resentment or whatsoever towards. His expressionless eyes merely glanced over the conceited crowd who looked like they had found a new prey but were too scared to go over.
'Bunch of fools, can't believe they still uphold such views in the current situation.'
While his eyes seemed to have gained interest to a particular someone walking towards Ryker, Amelia's voice which seemed to have been coated in utmost irritation, and her face scrunched in disgust beneath her half covered face could be heard in his head. As he gave a subconscious nod in response, not denying her words a bit as that was how the current society was, a system that couldn't be changed alongside the Reckoning with Bearers taking over the previous ruling government.
The privileged and less privileged.
And the school they attended was wholly made of the latter, leaving them on the bottom ranked of the five schools of Death Singer City. Fortunate Royals as they were called was indeed Fortunate, fortunate enough to live the lifestyle of royals, in other words the rich.
Created from raised funds and donations of the rich, it was meant to ease accumulating resentment and control the rate at which Tia was being formed in the City, thereby polluting it.
Just as some of the youths were starting to look lewdly at Amelia whose eyes had long gone cold with chillingness, Ryker's voice broke the atmosphere as he stretched out both arms.
Having sensed the opposing tension,
"Alright, here's our new batch of survivors."
Gesturing specifically at Flynn and Amelia who stood side by side, a few meters separated from the sources of the animus stares directed at them, he walked forward a bit with a calm smile on his face while disrupting the tension.
"Flynn… and Amelia" he added after a short pause, having no need to introduce Alex and co as the batch here were mostly, if not all, from Imperials, Eton and Riverside, all familiar with themselves.
Including his brother and Jean, they were the only ones from Oak present. Flynn and Amelia from Fortunate.
Currently the whole of Death Singer City schools was complete, albeit in small numbers.
"It's been a long journey so why not rest now and settle our differences in the unforeseeable future."
Despite his casual composure, upon hearing Ryker's words no one dared voice out a complaint, only showing reluctance while their irritation and disgust at Flynn and Amelia grew.
Seeing this, Ryker revealed a satisfied smile before glancing towards Amelia with an assured look, a modest apologetic smile at the lewd way she had been observed.
Whilst, Amelia showed nothing in response, pretending to be a cold deadly beauty with Flynn alone knowing how talkative and obese she was before.
'Ain't letting that off the hook though.' Flynn heard her speak in his mind with her gaze directed at the golden haired youth with a proud grin, holding an almost two meter dull silver Spear of silver color in the midst of four other boys.
Dismissing her words from his mind, his gaze moved to Alex's group of three who silently went to sit at an empty corner. Against his assumptions and thereby creating a moment of sudden silence, with confused stares of his schoolmates thrown at him while he acted indifference and then a casual smile parting his lips with a shrug.
No one said a word though, because of how infamous Alex was, they seemed not to want to get on his bad side or aggravate his mood swings.
They paused for a moment, glancing at each other before retreating to sit back down. Thinking perhaps this hell hadn't shaped attitude off but instead made him more vicious.
Feeling alienated by the not so friendly vibe they were getting…
'I guess we should also find our place.' Interrupting the silence in his head, Amelia said. And with that they both went to sit at the opposite side.
While they sat, Flynn's eyes couldn't help but wonder in observation at the cozy safe house they were occupying. The cave.
While it was neither narrow nor small, comfortably fitting more than twenty people with spacious space in between. It could be said to be big and a bit grand.
It was more the size of a house instead, its shape seemed to have been carved out by man, and crafted by a sculptor, shaping each slab at the edge into a smooth, concrete four corner stone bench which they all sat on currently.
'A rough judgment should be about ten square meters.' Flynn thought, only coming to a sudden realization a moment later as he glanced back at the narrow space within the walls which they had slipped through to get in. Then up at the stone ceiling which also seemed to have been carefully shaped and smoothened. Then back on the paved stone bench which now resembled a small rite altar to him.
"What are you in a trance for, bastard?"
This time not from his head as he heard those scorned filled words clearly with his ears, he sensed a taunting presence he hadn't previously paid attention to for some moments now, before him.
And then…
"Bastard, you dare ignore me?"
Kpa!
Flynn felt a fiery itchiness assault his cheeks before he could glance up at who his assaulter was…
