Chapter 32 - Ferns-3

Standing at the clearing previously made by Vans's energy blast, four beasts and their riders could be seen with a dwarfy figure a distance away. Mia though not knowing what her next step would be, still in her dark cloak, stood on guard for any movement, having her eyes fixed on the other party.

"Mind telling me why you disagree with me, Elton." Tham, the leader and rider with a fur cloak questioned, a certain seriousness in his voice as he spoke. Around him, the other three riders could be seen. "Are you serious?!"

"Look, can't you see what they've done?!" Elton exclaimed with disappointment and anger worn all over his face, stretching out his hand to draw their attention to the bodies around as he spoke. "Gosh, now get your beast off Nate."

"Eh?." The bald rider was startled, realizing he was being spoken to. "Nate?"

"Your pet has its paw on him?!" Elton said aloud, grabbing a stone and throwing it at the jaguar's leg. Getting a few growls as moving his beast to the side, the crushed body of the first spiritualist to fall could be seen, his body divided up in a gruesome way.

"Tham, they killed almost half of our party, that's all the members of my squad. Those are my men— men I've worked with, even one of yours fell. You're letting Gale's killers off just like that."

"Your men Elton, their weak and nothing to the guild anyway. It's good to have some weights off after all— haha." The dark-haired rider said, laying flat on the back of the beast.

"You bastard, they died for the Ferns— how could you say that! What about Gale!" Elton yelled out at them.

"Gale, that bastard. I could swear Father adopted him or found him in a bit. He wasted an asset, good he went with it since that would have eventually been his end anyway. It would have been a much worse death falling in the hands of Tham." The bald rider scorned.

"Tham...you wouldn't have killed Gale right?" Elton mumbled, his face covered with sheer disbelief at the words he just heard. "...right?"

"I'd make a slow and steady flay, just like yours would be done," Tham stated grinning from ear to ear.

'Mine?' The words echoed in his mind. As taking a step backwards towards the opposite end of the forest, his gaze shifted from each and every one of them to the other. Elton knew the type of people he was dealing with, as jokes about killing someone were never near the word 'jokes'. Having backed four meters away, he noticed Tham's eyes shift from him to something just above him. Turning to look at what was behind him, he could see a towering figure standing there. As looking up, he realized who it was with his heart skipping a beat- fear overwhelming him.

"Th-th- ma-ma—" Stuttering, the next second a hand grabbed his head and with a strength greater than his by a thousand times, the figure squeezed his head. " You killed her!" Vans grunted, his cold gaze on Elton's. "Let me g-"

*SHING!

*SSSS-SPLAT!

His own dagger had been drawn, slitting his throat before he knew it.

"Ack…ecku…" Elton was released as fell on his short legs, his eyes wide open with blood coming out of his mouth and neck. Choking with his eyes watering up, unable to stop the gushing blood no matter how much pressure he applied. His hands grew weaker as the life in him also grew fainter, soon his eyes were void of any trace of life, and he fell face flat on the ground dead.

"CRUSH!

With a single power stomp on Elton's head, he was nothing but a paste now. "Mia." Calling out to his wife, a sword was flung through the air which he soon caught with one hand. Without waiting, the sword lit up and glowed silver in the darkness. as he stared at the party of beast riders.

"The name is Th-"

"Spare me the yip yap and let's get down to the killing already- damn Slavers!" Vans said aloud, ripping off his cloak and brushing his hair back, exposing his olive skin and pair of black obsidians.

"I see you're a hunter also. We the Ferns wou-" Tham wasn't given a chance to finish up his sentence when suddenly Vans was up in the air before him. "You bastards can never be hunters!"

Descending upon him, Vans brought down his glowing double-edged great sword at him and his Saber Tooth Jaguar. "Tham, dismount!"

A voice said aloud and without hesitation, Tham reached for his weapon, a tomahawk made with a sabre tooth. Kicking off the beast, leaving it at the mercy of Vans's blade. Right after he'd gotten off the back of the beast, three steel arrows glowing with a golden aura flew past Tham. The others already having moved away, he was About three meters from slashing point. When the beast, acting on sheer instincts, shot off the ground with claws out to claw at its attacker.

A thunking sound and cracking of bones was heard as the three arrows hit a different target, dealing a death blow to the Jaguar- instantly killing it off.

Despite that, twisting his body, Vans needed only a light step on the head of the beast before it dropped dead. As with that, he performed a forward roll towards the ground- his sword still glowing silver.

Having landed right in front of Alden and the beast he was mounted on. Tham got into a stance with his tomahawk ready to battle it out against the enemy. Seated atop his Jaguar, bow in hand, Alden nocked three more arrows as drawing the glowing gold bow. His flaming gold eyes locked on Vans, he found an opening and with that. The arrows were sent flying straight and fast.

Twisting his body once again mid-air, it was an easy dodge of the arrows- all three of them. As soon coming down at Tham, just when both weapons were about to come into contact. Vans rotated in mid-air, being so fast his legs landed right on Tham's face catching him off guard, losing his balance and sending him tumbling down.

Meanwhile, Vans on the other hand was propelled up above the beast Alden sat on with his blade yet to have its fill of blood. However, looking down on the beast, the rider seemingly expected such a stunt, having his bow facing him with four arrows nocked, drawn, aiming for him and ready to fly.

"GUILDMASTER!!"

"VANS!!!"

Both channelling spiritual energy into their weapons almost to the max, it shined so bright both were shrouded in it as two suns could be seen about to clash- a golden sun and silver sun.
