Chapter 14 - None Alive

From above of the Lux Casino, a figure could be seen on the rooftop, zooming in the view of the figure became clear, being a cat—a black cat.

The part of the roof made of bricks which it lay on, seemed to have sustained significant damage. Some parts having already fallen, as a sizeable opening had been made. However, it wasn't large enough for it to fall through at least. Without having moved an inch, the cat had its eyes shut. Laying on its back, it's belly was towards the sky with its legs stretched out. For unlike any other cat in existence, it had successfully failed to land on its feet. Instead, it had crashed headfirst knocking the consciousness and life out of itself.

However, though being dead physically, nothing even showed or proved it, for there was no bloodstained or cut anywhere. Neither did it have an internal damage anywhere, as it only seemed to be asleep instead. For it had only been a while since the fall, but that was already a much longer period as it soon began to have some movements.

Looking carefully, its eyes twitched for a second and soon flickered open, exposing a pair of bright golden eyes and a disgusted look up its face. "Taint surely is dominant here— I can even taste it, ugh."

"Surely, this too much for just two hundred and seventy humans. It would be better to get a view of them myself." Vrabam muttered, trying to find a way to get himself on his feet.

Bringing his fore legs together, he made to push himself straight up, like an insect or animal with a shell would. Though it would have been much simpler if he'd rolled over, yet before he could realize that alternative. Vrabam couldn't move as freely like moment ago anymore. He'd had his bum now stuck in the opening instead, as the more he tired to get out the worser the situation got.

So deciding to use his front paws to get a hold and pull himself out, he placed them on each side then began to push. Successfully managing to bring himself an inch out, the bricks he was using as a means of support slowly started to shift down. Seeing it wasn't anything good, he made to get himself out entirely and quickly with one heavy push only for the bricks to disappear all of a sudden. Feeling nothing below him anymore, Vrabam's eyes widened up as gravity looked at him with a smile propped up it's face."Oh, Good Heavens."

*MEEEEOOOOEEEEWWW!!

"Ugh, my head hurts." Vrabam groaned, or more specifically meowed as he regained his consciousness. His ears constantly twitching here and there as the cluster of running, walking, talking and other sounds could be heard at the same time. He could feel a certain weight on his body, but couldn't tell what it was. Opening his eyes, he found himself looking at legs moving by. Glancing around, he was under a cover, wondering how but as he turned to look up. Vrabam was taken aback, only to see a face staring down at him with lifeless eyes.

Unknown to him, the two bricks he'd tried to use to get out of the hole he got stuck in, had made it to the heads of two individuals. Upon impact, unluckily being non-spiritualists, their deaths were but a flash. Yet falling seconds afterwards and smashing into ground, dying once again. The two had later fell on him, shielding him from the stampede although it wasn't wild like before any longer.

Definitely not up for staring at dead faces, Vrabam sped out of the covering skillfully dodging and successfully twisting his body away, from each and every incoming leg. Not knowing where he was heading, as the goal was to get to a safe area inorder to think through what the next step was. He found himself ending up in an opening, leaving the crowd and finally free from the numerous stomping feets.

*GRRRRRRR!

Vrabam froze, his golden eyes widening from the growl which came from behind him. Following, hot breath poured out on him with a wet substance, going all the way up his back reaching his head— licking him up.

"Oh, my my what do we have here." A feminine voice said, a hand grabbing and lifting his stunned self up from the ground and into a warm embrace. "Isn't he so cute?"

Vrabam was now curiously staring at the face of a young woman, her eyes blue with a not so warm smile up her face and having black hair tied back in a ponytail. And also a fur like shoulder pads which could be seen, as she wore a flexible armour made entirely of leather.

This was the first time he'd experienced a human touch, and it did feel quite good as Vrabam was dumbfounded. Looking into her eyes, he only wondered how such a person could be tainted. However, if he was aware of how she'd murdered her comrade moments ago, without a shred of mercy— he'd definitely reconsider his thoughts.

'Ino could have had the information wrong for the Reapers, maybe they weren't rotten cores.' Vrabam thought, finding it hard to believe the person he was currently being held by had been tainted beyond redemption. After all, that's what a Rotten Core mean't, having one's core— as every being had a core, humans having their own known as their heart— corrupted, darkened and dead to the extent that, no situation could bring back the life and light into it.

"Olyi, you found yourself a cute snack— hahaha." The woman broke into laughter, finding her words funny unlike the black cat in her arms did.

Understanding her, a growl came in response to her words, drawing his attention.

Turning his head to look back, Vrabam's gaze met with that of a large creature which stood beside them. It was a Scar Wolf Beast, for what gave them their name, was a thin line of fur with could be seen around their eyes. As for this gray furred wolf, a black line of fur cut across it's eye as if it had had an actual scar made there. Also looking at the cat, it's black eyes staring into that of his golden ones. It stuck it's tongue out and brought it up to give it's upper lip and snout a good lick. Sending the message of how much it craved to have him swirling around in its mouth.

Still unconcerned, yet having his eyes fixed on the beast which only went on about displaying gestures of how it would gobble him up. All Vrabam did was to carefully study the beast, taking in its entire structure and size with the needed calculations. Done with it, he turned back to the woman who seemed to be glaring at something above. Before muttering the words with a frown up his face."A Slave of Taint daring to see me as a mere delicacy, how unstomachable?"

"Huh?" The woman turned to him, hearing a voice speak. As her gaze fell on his face, confusion swept up her face. For in her arms, the cat had its paws covering his eyes like it was hiding away. However he wasn't, as raising his paws off his eyes the voice she'd heard earlier came again. "PIKA BOO!!"

At the moment his eyes, now oddly bright and entirely golden met with her's, she exploded in an instant. Blood and gore splattering everywhere, a golden light shrouding him as a transformation into something larger began.
