Chapter 22 - Out of the den

Get rid of them? Sawyer and Jamie looked at each other and he gave her a signal.

Sawyer had them memorize signals in the intro booklets he had given her when he took her to the treehouse to meet the guild. The signals were so many. Some were only twitches, like face twitch, and blinking patterns. She was really curious about who made these signals.

The signal he gave now meant wait for my attack.

So, they were taking action on these bad guys. Great. Her hands were itching to slap some smug faces.

"Let's start with those guys."

They came and dragged the little guy away. Jamie could see that he was just ten years old.

The man with the scar looked really evil and scary. It's the thoughts and actions that make a person's face evil. And he looked like someone who could be the principal of Evil University.

The boy was dragged and he struggled violently. The man struck the boy's neck and made him stop struggling.

"Look, this is your fate. Only dead keep secrets."

Are they that blatant? No one asked about the absence of half of the guild members from all teams. Or maybe the absence of some teams?

"My dad will not let you live if you kill me."

A young girl yelled.

"Huh, even if your dad comes here, I'll kill him."

He said arrogantly. The girl shook like a leaf crying silently.

She looked like a rebellious girl who ran away from home. Because she was completely differently from others. Jamie could see the obvious skin tone change, the girl made herself look darker, that meant she didn't go out frequently.

And the way she talked now, it was the tone of a kid who got caught after running away from home. Jamie shook her head. What did it mean to her?

Sawyer had freedom himself from the cuffs. Jamie didn't know how. He was awesome anyway.

He was waiting for the perfect moment.

The other men came into the cave to see the obvious scene that was going to play out. Seeing them nearing the man in the center, Sawyer was ready.

He looked at Jamie and blinked.

Sawyer threw a fire ball and no one paid attention to the crystal ball. Because how could it cause any danger to them?

Jamie found her hands were free. She quickly took out her whip and sent it to the boy and wrapped it around him. There was no time. She pulled aand caught him.

The crystal exploded and the man was on fire. His companions moved away from him and before they could think of helping him, Leo sent lightning balls on them.

The collision of lightning balls generated electricity and electrocuted them. The people at the center who held the power of killing them were now being tortured. The captives looked shocked. No one turned back because the balls came from above. And they didn't think that some people in the back were acting.

As the person who had cuffed them died, the cuffs lost their meaning. The captured people broke away and then they thrashed the people in the center.

"Who do you think you are, want to kill me?"

"Bastards, bastards who don't spare children, your guild should have gone extinct!"

The commotion gained the attention of the people who were guarding outside but they got the same treatment. More than fifty people, who were angry, who were riled up, they just hit and vented their anger.

Jamie looked at the girl who didn't wake up and her brother who was watching everything with wide eyes, what should they do with them?

"Let's go!"

Their legs were caught.

The boy clutched Sawyer's pants in one hand and hers in the other.

"Please take us with you!"

Jamie opened her mouth but no words came out.

She looked at Sawyer. He was the leader. She couldn't defy him.

He looked at Leo and then at her.

"What do you say?"

"Yes!"

Leo answered.

She nodded.

"Okay, come with us!"

Jamie was relieved and at the same time not surprised. Wasn't she picked up by them in the same way?

"Let's leave here."

They slipped away slowly.

Jamie was astonished at the fact that no one was paying them any attention. Wow.

They walked and walked. They were near the entrance. But how near exactly? There should be some other traps nearby, courtesy of other guilds, of course.

"We should stop and eat. We have five hours to get out."

Sawyer held the compressed food. He didn't ask Jamie to provide them with food. She felt touched because Sawyer was hiding her secret from others.

Leo- I don't tell your secret too, Jamie.

They sat under a tree and ate. The boy carried his sister without a sound. He was extremely thankful when they gave him food.

"Thank you, brother, sister, and brother!"

"How polite you are! Why do you come in here?"

Leo asked him.

"My sister wanted to find some backers for us."

Leo didn't ask any follow up question. Jamie felt that they knew what he meant. But she didn't understand anything.

If she asked, would she look callous?

Sawyer stood up and yelled.

"Come out. Don't hide."

Was someone hiding here?

Jamie instantly took out her knives.

"Come out. My weapons don't have eyes."

Sawyer took out a sharp blade.

"I'm coming, coming. With this attitude, you won't find a girlfriend!"

It was the runaway girl!

She glared at Sawyer.

"Why are you following us?"

"You are going the same way as me."

Jamie hid her smile.

"Then you are waiting here, for what reason, go on your way!"

"I can stop whenever I want."

Rebellious kids.

"You want to follow us, don't you?"

Jamie asked her.

The girl looked away, pretending to look at the trees.

"She doesn't want to come with us."

Sawyer wasn't going easy on her.

"Yeah, let's leave her here," Leo echoed earning a glare from her.

"Okay, okay, take me out of here. My dad can give you City Entry Order!'"
