"She's not asked for my help yet," he said, turned and walked away.
Barak's lips parted in shock. How would he know if she asked for his help? He didn't leave anything in his cloak that he gave her, did he?
…
Night came, and Evelyn saw a few men marching towards the canopy. She gripped the cloak tightly, as if it was her lifeline. Her heart was thrashing restlessly against her ribcage. She thought that when night came, she could escape, but it seemed these men knew what she was thinking.
They didn't leave her alone for a second, nor did they take their gaze away from her. Even when she wanted to pee, they followed her and didn't even turn away to give her privacy.
And now, she was feeling very scared, knowing she would undoubtedly be sold. She suddenly started to regret leaving the castle. If she had known, she wouldn't have left.
Her grip on the cloak tightened until her knuckles turned white.
