Chapter 14 - Kill 5 Humans

As morning arrived, both Arvian and Jaxyn woke up and got ready early. They quickly freshened up, preparing for the day ahead.

Jaxyn began, "Well, Arvian," searching a wooden chest in the room's corner. "There are some clothes here in the house. Dareth usually wears these when he goes to the city. Our usual outfits might make us stand out too much. If we're not careful, we could get caught."

Jaxyn gave Arvian a black coat, black pants, and a white shirt that was folded neatly. "Here, these should work for you."

Arvian took the clothes and nodded. "Alright. Thanks," he said as he began changing into the outfit. Meanwhile, Jaxyn dressed in a similar style but with a slightly different color scheme.

When they were ready, they both looked at one another, looking less suspicious and more put together in their new clothes. "Well, we don't look too bad," Jaxyn joked, giving Arvian a playful nudge.

Then, from a small table, Jaxyn opened a drawer and took out a coin-filled pouch. "I got these from my father. He gave them to me whenever he came back from long missions. I didn't have much use for them before, but now I do."

Jaxyn's father, Zephyraen Velnoctene, the leader of the last surviving Velnoctenes, was currently in the nation, gathering information about the Lioren powers. Acted as a maid at the Azmaris Academy.

Both Arvian and Jaxyn stepped out of the house. Unable to control his enthusiasm, Jaxyn started to hop along the path, his tousled-black hair bouncing with each leap. "I am so excited! This is going to be fun!" he exclaimed with a wide grin.

They both stepped into the busy city, Arvian overwhelmed by its vastness and magnificence. The structures were tall, intricately designed, and combined modern elements with ancient stonework.

Shops lined every corner, their vibrant signs beckoning customers, and the streets were bustling with activity. Crowds of humans moved about, engaged in lively chatter and haggling with merchants.

Caverns beneath some of the buildings glimmered faintly, hinting at underground markets, while old-style vehicles rolled by, powered by some kind of magic or ancient technology.

Arvian found himself staring at the sheer number of people. It was the first time he had seen such a large gathering of humans since his reincarnation. The noise, the liveliness, and the chaos felt surreal.

"First time seeing a real city, huh?" Jaxyn said with a teasing grin, noticing Arvian's awestruck expression. "Stick close to me, Shitty Monarch. You might get lost in this crowd!"

"Well, first we'll eat something. Hmm, let's go to that shop," Jaxyn continued, pointing toward a food shop.

"Let us go and make our stomachs happy," Arvian muttered, feeling a little hungry as well.

When they walked into the store, they requested noodles.

At the memory of Earth's noodles, Arvian grinned, his stomach rumbling more loudly.

'Hmm, just thinking about how long it's been since I've had noodles like these. I didn't expect it to taste so familiar,' Arvian thought, eagerly picking up his chopsticks.

Jaxyn looked at Arvian and arched an eyebrow before starting to eat. "You sure you're not just hungry? Go on, eat already! You're acting like you've never had food before."

When Arvian finally took a bite, his eyes brightened and he laughed. He mumbled, "This... this is perfect," as he tasted the deep flavor.

As the finished eating noodles, Jaxyn went to pay the bill after eating.

Arvian was sitting in a chair when the screen appeared out of nowhere.

[Unhuman Mission-01]

Mission Title: Kill 5 Humans

Description:

In this task, you are instructed to kill five humans. The mission may feel grueling and unthinkable, but failure will only lead to unbearable consequences.

Failure Penalty:

If the mission is failed, the penalty will involve being sent to the Torture Realm, where the passage of time is warped—1 hour in the real world equals 1 year in the Torture Realm.

Time Limit: 1 hour.

Arvian's eyes widened as he read the notification.

'Damn... if I fail, the torture will be crazy... I have to do this somehow... without letting Jaxyn notice,' Arvian thought to himself.

He looked at Jaxyn, who was waiting in line to pay the bill. With that, Arvian turned and counted the people in the room. In the corner, three men were eating and playing cards.

'Perfect.'

With that he opened his inventory and pulled out the Celestial chain.

He vanished one side of the chain and extended it behind the three men. Slowly, without letting anyone notice, he wrapped the chain around them. He tightened it in a flash, and the chain tore through their bodies. In an instant, he pulled the chain back into his inventory.

The blood sprayed out, splattering the walls and floor of the shop. Panic spread instantly.

People screamed, some running out of the shop in terror, while others froze in shock at the gruesome sight. The atmosphere turned chaotic, and the air thickened with fear.

Jaxyn's eyes widened in disbelief as he turned around to see the aftermath. His heart pounding, he snatched Arvian by the wrist and dragged him to the door. With a tone that was a mix of bewilderment and terror, he muttered, "Hell, who could have done this?"

Although Arvian appeared composed and almost unaffected by the chaos going on around him, his thoughts were anything but. This was much more serious than he had anticipated.

"We must leave this place," Arvian whispered to himself as Jaxyn pulled him through the door.

Arvian felt the weight of the situation as they ran down the street, wondering if things were getting out of control.

Both of them eventually stopped running after a while because they were worn out from the rapid pace.

Arvian saw kids congregating close to a toy store. He looked at two particular children. "Just those two, and then..." he thought, keeping his focus on them.

"Let me rest... for a while," Jaxyn said, walking over to a nearby street wall and leaning against it, catching his breath.
