"You are such an interesting woman," Mr. Kelvin said bluntly, laughing out loud.
Rose opened her eyes, her face filled with confusion. Why did he just say that? What did discussing business have to do with her being funny or interesting?
"At least you're not boring, I guess," Mr. Kelvin continued in his usual cold tone.
Rose simply smiled and nodded at whatever he said. He was her benefactor now—she had no right to comment on his words. Since he was helping her, she would just listen.
"A table for two. What would you like, ma'am?"
The waiter finally arrived, his hands holding a small notepad.
Rose raised her head and looked between Mr. Kelvin and the waiter. She remained silent. She didn't want to order first—he had made all the reservations, so he should take the lead. She wasn't comfortable enough with strangers to make decisions on her own in this setting.
