"Yes, dear, I will stay with you," Rose said, looking at him, although she knew that once he slept, she was going to leave. She needed to clean herself up; she felt so sticky and was filled with Rolan's scent.
Tobi looked at her with his eyes as if he did not believe her. He would not stay awake. He was going to watch his mommy until his mommy fell asleep. So he thought in his heart, and Darius agreed with him.
So Tobi, while his mother was petting him, trying to make him go to sleep, refused to fall asleep.
Rose chuckled in her heart, seeing the little thought in Tobi's heart. She continued petting him. It was her chance. She knew him better than he knew himself.
While her soothing continued, Tobi did not know when he found himself falling asleep, and so he zoned out.
