"What power, what skill, what flair." Grandpa Nux praised as his eyes were fixed on Riley as he celebrated his goal. The other old man besides grandpa Nux agreed, "Absolutely Nux my friend. That boy, my gosh. Now I see why they weren't passing to him. Hahahaha." The German boy sitting with them had stars in his eyes and he exclaimed, "woooow"
On the pitch Riley celebrated alone while his teammates and the opposition players had frowns. The match quickly restarted and the familiar routine of Riley not being passed the ball resumed. Riley after that goal was not dishearted because he had gotten his goal, he still picked up some scraps and tried to produce magic but he was tightly marked. The first half came to a stop and the players were required to take a 10 minute break. Riley sat with Andre and Adela.
"These guys. They are going to cost you this opportunity." Andre said through gritted teeth. Riley smiled at his friend and little Adela on the side. "I think what I need is a positional change. If only coach can get…" Riley was interrupted by Rafael calling his name. He got up and went to this admin guy. "Rafael? What's up?" Rafael looked at Riley for a while, "Nice goal but you see my boss wants to see more of you so he has asked me to tell you to move to midfield." Rafael spoke and Riley's eye lit up, "Hahahaha, Rafael my man thank your boss for me." Rafael just smiled and left him there. Riley told Andre about what's about to happen and Andre was relieved too.
The match restarted and Riley on his new position started getting on the ball more. Andre on the sidelines had a smile on his face. "Time to unleash the beast of Lisbon." Riley was moving through the pockets of spaces and his teammates were passing him the ball since coach Almedia had drilled to them that they should. His exact words were 'You idiots you want to look good to those scouts? Only one guy can make you average footballers appear good and that is Riley Santos.'
Riley set up the guy who replaced him on the wing for a goal that was well worked. Riley being double teamed sent a raking pass towards the left that made use of the guys ridiculous speed and he slotted home a goal. The trial match ended with Riley's side winning with 5 goals to 2 with Riley involved in 4 of those goals.
After the game ended, grandpa Nux, the other old man and the boy who couldn't take his eyes off Riley approached. "Well what a game that was. Everyone, you did well." Grandpa Nux said with a smile eyeing everyone and his eyes lingering on Riley for some time. The old man next to Nux stepped forward and introduced himself, "Hello everyone, my name is Ben Parker and I am the scout for Fulham a team based in England." The young players gasped as they couldn't believe there was another scout there.
"I'll be honest with you. You played good especially the team that won. However, only two guys caught me and my friend's eye."
