Ava stood outside the office building, her heart racing with anxiety. She hadn't slept well, her mind replaying the events of the previous night. The memory of Alex and Sharon's betrayal still stung, but she was determined to face them head-on.
Taking a deep breath, Ava pushed open the door and stepped into the office. The familiar hum of printers and keyboards enveloped her, but today it felt oppressive. She made her way to her desk, trying to avoid eye contact with her coworkers.
As she settled into her chair, Ava noticed a flurry of activity around the conference room. She caught snippets of conversation about a new CEO taking over the company. Ava's curiosity was piqued, but she didn't have time to dwell on it.
Just then, her phone rang, shrill in the morning silence. Ava hesitated before answering, her heart sinking as she heard Alex's voice on the other end.
"Ava, we need to talk," he said, his tone dripping with insincerity.
Ava's grip on the phone tightened. "I don't think so, Alex. We've got nothing to discuss."
Before he could respond, Ava hung up, her hand trembling with anger. She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself down.
As she glanced up, Ava noticed a tall, dark-haired man standing by the conference room door, watching her. Their eyes met, and for a moment, Ava felt like he could see right through her.
Who was this stranger, and why did he seem so interested in her?
Finn Ryder, the new CEO, stood motionless, his gaze fixed on Ava. He was a man used to getting what he wanted, when he wanted it. And right now, he wanted to know more about this girl.
Flashback:
Finn's eyes locked onto Rachel's as he pulled her close, his lips crashing against hers. They stumbled backward, into the luxurious hotel room, their bodies entwined.
Finn's hands roamed over Rachel's curves, his fingers digging into her skin. She moaned, her nails scraping against his back.
In that moment, Finn was in control. He was the master of his domain, and Rachel was just another conquest.
But as the night wore on, Finn's thoughts drifted back to the present. He had a company to run, and a reputation to uphold.
Finn's gaze snapped back to Ava, his eyes narrowing as he studied her. She seemed so... innocent. So untouched.
Finn's lips curled into a sly smile. He couldn't wait to change that.
