My feet were burning as I ran with all my strength, trying to pull as much distance between me and the beast.
Sadly, that was wishful thinking.....
The damn beast was too fast, catching up with me within seconds.
As soon as the beast was within range, it lunged towards me. Fortunately, I already predicted such an outcome and rolled to the left, narrowly dodging its ruthless attack.
In one moment, I was on the ground, and in the next moment, I was running again.
A surge of adrenaline washed over me as I sprinted off with much more speed.
My chest heaved up and down as I struggled for air in the blistering heat.
I turned my head briefly to inspect, and to not my surprise, the monster was right behind me again.
'Damn this, why the fuck is it chasing me my flesh isn't tasty!!'
My body moved with utmost efficiency as I ran with all my might to get as far away from it as possible.
Right now I had thrown away all thoughts of escaping and starting thinking of ways to beat the monster.
I cleared my head an began to try to channel the 'mana' in the surroundings hoping to have a breakthrough. Sadly just like my previous attempt the 'mana' wouldn't just listen to me.
'Damn it, I don't have a core'
Luck checked his body and to his dismay he didn't have a core anymore, but that still doesn't answer why I am unable to recognise the 'mana'
'It just feels... different '
I didn't have time to ponder on the reason for my predicament as the beast was slowly closing the distance.
'Stupid animal'
I gathered myself and concentrated on the 'mana' in the air once again. This time there was a difference.
'Yes!'
I could feel the unknown presence drawing closer and closer to me. Although I couldn't control it, I could atleast influence its direction.
With that realisation in mind I quickly directed the flow of the 'mana' into my fists since channeling them into my feet won't do much for my speed unless they were direction sent into my leg muscles, but that requires precise control of the mana which I didn't have in the first place.
After familiarising myself with this new energy, I deliberately slowed down so the monster would try to lunged into me again.
Right after I slowed down, the foolish beast did exactly what I expected it to do. It lunged at me while making those disturbing noises.
'Perfect'
I chuckled and flipped behind the monster before burying my fist into its back.
The monster shrieked and kicked back it's hind legs at me, and I dodged them easily.
How could a mindless beast compare to me in intelligence and instincts.
Humans have the strongest will to survive amongst all creatures, hence why we were able to adapt to the various situations and become the strongest race in the world.
How could a mere animal compare.
With that in mind I kept on slamming my fist into the beast as I attacked and retreated expertly.
After fifteen whole minutes of this deadlock the beast showed signs of bring tired. Ofcourse it would be criminal to say I wasn't tired but I was not where near as tired as the monster since I wasn't on the receiving end of all those hits.
And coupled with the fact that I had years of training on endurance, my physical strength could be considered superhuman.
The monster didn't look different on the outside, but I was sure it was in a world of pain. Its facial expressions were more than enough indicators to tell me that this monster was experiencing a lot of pain.
Seeing that rather than getting excited, I grew more cautious as I knew that its attacks would begin to become more and more irregular. Thankfully, its insides were wrecked, and any other strength it had left was swifty being exhausted.
Feeling my victory edging closer, a small smile crept up on my face.
'Finally'
I ran up towards the beast head on and slammed my fist into its face the best reeled back at the pain but I wasn't exactly left unscathed either. My four fingers were broken with the exception of my thumb.
I merely shrugged at the pain and proceeded to kick the warthog in the face. This time I shielded my leg with the 'mana' to avoid getting injured.
One of the warthog horns blew of when I kicked it so I proceed to pick it up and use it as a weapon. The warthog screamed and let out weird noises as I looked at me with a hateful gaze.
A merely smiled at the monster with a mocking expression on my face, but the beast seemed to have taken offence, which was quite funny intact
The warthog shrieked and charged at me again. This time, I didn't dodge like I used to and just stood there while the beast closed in on me.
Once the beast was in range It lunged at me again, and this time, I just shifted my body slightly to the left before burying the horn in the beasts eye. I could immediately feel my body being swept up by the warthog as I was once again shocked by it's sheer strength .
Pieces of my flesh tore off my body as I fell awkwardly on the ground.
The monster squirmed in pain beside me before falling limp on the ground.... dead.
My chest heaved up and down rapidly as I quickly stood up from the ground before walking cautiously towards the beast.
'It's actually dead, whew well that was a hassle'
I took a minute to check on my injuries and I realised I wasn't really in the best condition.
'Several broken bones, two ribs fractured, four fingers broken.... haaa'
I let out a long sigh after realising the extent of my injuries. They weren't life threatening but they would surely hinder my movements by a lot.
To make things worse I still don't know whether there are more monsters out there or whether they are stronger than this one.
Staring at tg
He monster for sometime I pondered whether I could collect its meat later for food but that proved to be impossible because of its thick hide. I could only abandon the idea.
I tried to locate the direction I came form but that proved to be impossible since all is saw around me was flat land with no changes in the terrain which deeply puzzled me.
'Why am I not seeing the tracks left behind by the monster'
There should have been at least some tracks left behind but there was nothing.
'Well whatever I'll just keep going in a random direction then'
Since there was no way to tell where I came from I just picked a random direction and walked off.
By now it was probably late afternoon and the sun was showing signs of setting.
I hadn't even walked for a few minutes when I heard a deafening roar that echoed through out the area.
'Oh give me a break here'
I hadn't even taken a step further when I felt a tyrannical pressure envelope me. My body shuddered as I felt the pressure with my legs shaking rapidly.
'That's bad new for me'
I quickly gathered my thoughts and tried to locate the monster quickly so I could escape.
I looked around and quickly located the monster. It was quite far away so I couldn't see it clearly all I could see was a moving black dot and that dot was moving very fast.
'Damn it just my luck'
