Chapter 27 - Chapter 26

The morning sunlight filtered through the white curtains of the Evans' family home, signaling the start of an exciting day. Petunia and Lily sat at the kitchen table, enjoying a hearty breakfast of pancakes and fresh orange juice. Their parents, Henry and Violet, joined them, their faces alight with anticipation.

"Girls," Henry began, setting down his coffee cup with a grin, "your mother and I have been planning something special for this summer."

Lily's green eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What is it, Dad?"

Violet leaned forward, her excitement palpable. "We're going on a family trip to America!"

Both girls gasped in unison, their surprise quickly replaced by enthusiastic chatter.

"America? Really? Where are we going?" Petunia asked, her voice brimming with excitement.

Henry unfolded a map of the United States and spread it across the table. "We'll start in New York City, then head to Washington, D.C., followed by the sunny beaches of Florida, and finally, a road trip through California."

Lily clapped her hands together. "This is going to be amazing! I can't wait to see the Statue of Liberty and maybe even a Broadway show!"

"And Disneyland in California," Petunia added, her smile widening.

Violet chuckled. "We'll make sure to see as much as we can, and of course, there will be plenty of shopping and chances to pick out souvenirs for your friends."

A week later, the family boarded a plane bound for New York City. Petunia stared out of the window, marveling at the clouds below, while Lily busied herself with a travel guide, pointing out places she wanted to visit.

When they arrived in New York, the city's energy was electric. Their first stop was Times Square, where neon lights and towering billboards surrounded them. Henry and Violet watched with amusement as the girls snapped pictures and marveled at the bustling crowds.

"Can we go to that giant toy store?" Lily asked, tugging on her father's sleeve.

Henry nodded with a smile. "Of course. Let's explore."

Inside the toy store, the girls were enchanted by the displays. Lily and petunia picked out a miniature snow globe with the Empire State Building inside, while Petunia gravitated toward a beautifully crafted chess set. and she planned to give the snow globes to Emmeline and pandora.

"Who's that for?" Violet asked, noticing Petunia's thoughtful expression.

Petunia hesitated before replying. "Maybe Severus. He loves strategy games."

Violet smiled knowingly. "That's very thoughtful of you."

The next day, the family visited Central Park, where they enjoyed a leisurely picnic. Henry rented bicycles, and they rode around the park, laughing and racing each other. That evening, they attended a Broadway show, leaving the theater in awe of the dazzling performances.

In Washington, D.C., the family toured iconic landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian museums. Henry, ever the history enthusiast, shared tidbits about each location, sparking lively discussions.

Their journey continued to Florida, where the warm sands and turquoise waters of Miami Beach awaited them. Violet treated the girls to a day of shopping at a local boutique, helping them pick out sundresses and matching straw hats.

"You both look stunning," she said, admiring their selections. "Let's get these for you."

The girls beamed, and Lily added, "We should get some seashell necklaces for Marlene and Alice."

As the sun set over the beach, the family strolled along the shore, collecting seashells and taking photos.

In California, the highlight of their trip was Disneyland. Henry wore a pair of Mickey Mouse ears, much to the amusement of his daughters, while Violet insisted on taking a family photo in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

The girls loved the rides though Petunia was initially hesitant. "Are you sure this isn't too fast?" she asked nervously.

"You'll love it," Lily assured her, dragging her onto the ride. By the end, Petunia was laughing as hard as her sister.

Their road trip through California included stops at scenic coastal towns, a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and a tour of Hollywood. At a quirky souvenir shop on Hollywood Boulevard, Petunia found a vintage potion bottle replica that reminded her of her Hogwarts classes.

"This will be perfect for Professor Slughorn," she said, showing it to her mother.

Each evening, the family gathered for dinner, sharing their favorite moments of the day. One night, at a cozy diner in Los Angeles, Henry asked, "What's been your favorite part of the trip so far?"

Lily grinned. "Broadway in New York was incredible, but Disneyland might take the top spot."

Petunia thought for a moment before replying. "I loved Washington, D.C., especially the museums. But honestly, spending time together as a family has been the best part."

Violet reached across the table to squeeze her hand. "We feel the same way, sweetheart."

As their adventure came to an end, the family returned home with suitcases full of souvenirs and hearts full of memories. Petunia and Lily spent the next few days organizing gifts for their friends: snow globes, necklaces, and the thoughtful chess set for Severus.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow through her bedroom window, Petunia sat at her desk with a quill in hand and a stack of parchment before her. The soft twinkle of the fairy lights in her room gave the space a cozy ambiance, perfect for writing letters to her friends. she write a letter for emmeline, pandora and severus

Dear Severus,

I hope you're having a good summer. How are your potions studies going? Knowing you, I'm sure you've been working on something fascinating.

I wanted to tell you all about my trip to America. It was such a different world vibrant cities, historical landmarks, sunny beaches, and even Disneyland! You would have loved Washington, D.C.; the museums were full of history and knowledge. I kept thinking about how much you'd enjoy exploring the artifacts and learning about the Muggle history there.

One of my favorite places was New York City. The energy there was contagious, and we visited this enormous toy store. Among the many treasures, I found a beautifully crafted chess set that immediately made me think of you. I remember how you enjoy strategy games and thought this would be a perfect addition to your collection. It's a little piece of America that I hope you'll like. I'm sending it with this letter, so you can see it for yourself.

I also visited a Broadway show, which was absolutely magical. The stories they told reminded me of how captivating tales can be, much like the ones we've read together. There was so much creativity and inspiration everywhere, it's hard to put into words!

I hope you enjoy the chess set, and I can't wait to hear from you. Let me know what you've been up to maybe we can meet up before school starts and play a game.

Take care,

Petunia

Satisfied with her work, Petunia carefully folded the letters and attached the gifts. She tied each with a ribbon, placed them in envelopes, and sealed them with wax. With her owl, Anna, waiting patiently on the windowsill, she attached the parcels and sent them off into the night sky.

As Anna disappeared into the horizon, Petunia felt a sense of contentment. Sharing her experiences and gifts with her friends made the trip feel even more meaningful.
