Chapter 25 - Awakening the Forgotten

The silence that followed the clash of energies was deafening. Tianwu lay motionless, his chest rising and falling in shallow breaths, his body trembling as though it had been drained of life. The last remnants of his divine power flickered weakly within him, barely a spark in the face of Nian's overwhelming force.

For a moment, it felt as if the world itself had paused. The battle had ceased, the wind stilled, and the forest around them held its breath, as though waiting for something—someone—to take action.

Nian stood over him, his silver hair catching the faint light of the moon. His eyes gleamed with a cold satisfaction, as though this was the inevitable conclusion to a story he had orchestrated from the very beginning.

"Pathetic," Nian muttered, his voice devoid of any pity. "I never understood why you continued to resist, Tianwu. You were never meant to be anything more than my tool, my puppet. And yet you fought. For what? Some illusion of freedom?"

Tianwu could barely hear him. His mind was clouded, his senses dulled, and the pain that radiated through his body was all-consuming. He had failed—not only himself but everyone who had placed their trust in him. Yuren, Xianglu, and even those who had believed in his strength. What was left for him now?

In the distant shadows, Xianglu and Yuren stirred, their faces pale with worry. Though both were injured, it was clear that their concern for Tianwu far outweighed their own pain. They knew this defeat was not just physical. Tianwu's spirit was shattered, his divine essence flickering like a dying flame. They could sense the weight of his failure, the crushing reality that this wasn't just a battle—it was the end of an era.

"Master Tianwu..." Yuren whispered, his voice filled with desperation. "Please, get up. You can't give up now. We... we still need you."

But Tianwu could barely focus on Yuren's words. They felt distant, like they were being spoken from another life, another time. His vision blurred, his thoughts fractured, and he could only hear the faint whispers of a voice that seemed to come from deep within him.

You are not done, Tianwu. Not yet.

The words weren't clear, but they carried with them a sense of power, a sense of urgency that forced Tianwu to fight against the haze clouding his mind. His hand twitched, and for the briefest of moments, he felt the spark of his former self—the god he had once been, the being of unfathomable power and will.

Not yet.

The voice was faint, but it was enough. Tianwu forced himself to move, his body screaming in protest, his energy sapping away with every passing second. But still, he rose.

Nian's eyes flickered with surprise, his amusement faltering as he watched Tianwu struggle to stand. "You really are a fool," he said coldly. "You still think you can defy me?"

Tianwu's breath came in ragged gasps, but there was something different now. Something shifting within him. He reached deep into the well of his soul, tapping into the ancient, forgotten power that had once coursed through his veins. It wasn't the same as before—it wasn't a return to his old self. It was something more... raw. Something that had been buried, suppressed by the pain of his fall, but now awakening with a force that shook him to his core.

Nian's smirk faltered as the air around them seemed to tremble. The winds began to stir again, but this time, they weren't carrying the weight of darkness—they were charged with something far more ancient. Far more dangerous.

"You're... you're not him," Nian muttered, his voice filled with confusion and unease. "This isn't your power. This isn't you."

But Tianwu didn't respond. He didn't need to. His focus was absolute, the power coursing through him now completely out of his control. The air around him rippled like a storm gathering strength, the ground beneath his feet cracking and groaning as if reacting to his presence. He could feel the ancient energy coursing through him—an energy that had been with him since the beginning of time. An energy that had been lost to him for so long.

Nian stepped back, his eyes wide with disbelief. For the first time, there was uncertainty in his gaze, a flicker of fear that made Tianwu's heart beat faster. He had underestimated the force within Tianwu, the power of a being who had once ruled the heavens. It was no longer a god's power—it was something else. Something more primal. More dangerous.

Tianwu opened his eyes, his pupils glowing with an otherworldly light. "I may have fallen," he said, his voice low and resonant, filled with a strength that was impossible to ignore. "But I have not forgotten what I am."

With a snap of his fingers, the air around him exploded in a burst of light and energy. The winds howled in response, swirling violently as the power he had long suppressed was unleashed, but this time, it was no longer a fragment of his former self. It was something far more primal—a force that transcended the heavens themselves.

Nian tried to react, summoning his own dark energy to shield himself, but it was no use. The power that Tianwu wielded now was not something that could be contained by barriers or shields. It was the raw essence of creation itself.

The sky split open with a thunderous roar as a wave of divine energy surged forward, crashing into Nian's defenses with the force of a thousand storms. For a moment, Tianwu's mind cleared, the weight of his guilt, his failure, all of it, seemed to dissipate under the overwhelming flood of power. But just as quickly, the dark energy that had once been a part of him—the energy that Nian had manipulated so easily—fought against it.

Tianwu's body trembled with the strain of the battle, but he refused to yield. He couldn't. Not now. Not when everything had led to this moment.

Nian's eyes burned with fury as he countered the blast of divine energy, his form flickering with dark power. "This... This isn't possible!" he snarled. "You were never meant to have this power!"

But Tianwu, now fully aware of the force he was tapping into, smiled. "I may not be the god I was before," he said, his voice steady, his power unwavering. "But I am no longer your pawn, Nian."

And with that, the battle reached its climax.

The world around them seemed to warp as the forces collided, the air filled with the sounds of thunder and crackling energy. The ground shook as the divine and dark powers clashed, neither willing to give an inch. But for Tianwu, there was no going back. He had unlocked something far more dangerous than even he could have anticipated.

As the energy surged, a strange silence fell over the battlefield. Tianwu's vision blurred, his consciousness slipping as the forces within him struggled for control. He could feel the weight of the ancient power threatening to overwhelm him, but he held on, gritting his teeth as the storm of light and shadow raged around him.

Then, with a final surge of energy, Tianwu's power flared, blindingly bright.
