Chapter 4 - 4. Plus-Size

Moana

I woke up feeling exhausted, wondering why I'd been so tired lately. As I sat up, I noticed Jericho was nowhere to be found. A maid walked in with a tray of food, and I was surprised.

"The Lycan King said you can stay here for as long as you want," She said with a smile. I felt a spark of happiness, thinking that at least I'd have some freedom to explore the mansion.

After taking a bath, I decided to stroll around the house. The sheer size and luxury of the mansion took my breath away, "He's freaking rich," I muttered to myself.

As I wandered, I came across a door that caught my attention. Without thinking, I pushed it open, revealing a handsome man sitting at a desk. He turned to me, and my soul literally skipped a beat. He was stunningly handsome.

He smiled warmly and gestured for me to come in. I agreed, trying to play it cool despite my nervousness. We sat down in chairs, and he continued to smile, putting me at ease, "Hi, I'm Lucas. And you are?" He said, charmingly.

"I'm Moana," I replied quickly, feeling a bit shy. Lucas nodded, eyes sparkling with interest, "What brings you to my room, Moana? You weren't looking for something, were you?"

I shook my head, trying to play it cool, "No, I was just patrolling, "Patrolling, huh?" Lucas chuckled, with a captivating smile. I leaned in closer, curiosity getting the better of me, "Who are you, exactly?" Lucas' expression turned serious, "I'm Lucas, the head of the guard. Everyone respects me here,"

His keen gaze made me feel like he could see right through me. We continued chatting, and I found myself lost in the conversation, feeling an unexpected connection with Lucas.

As we talked, Lucas handed me his glass of juice. I took a sip, feeling grateful for the refreshing drink. But as the conversation flowed, I couldn't help but wonder if Lucas knew about my situation, "Do you know that I'm the Lycan King's slave?" I asked, hesitantly.

Lucas' expression turned somber, "Yes. Everyone in the pack knows you're his slave," He paused, his eyes locked on mine, "But seeing you now, for the first time,.... I wish I could change that,"

I smiled wistfully, feeling a pang of longing, "I wish I could change that too," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Lucas' eyes sparkled with understanding, but he didn't push the subject further.

Instead, he changed the mood, breaking into a warm smile, "We shouldn't think about all that right now. Let's cheer to our new friendship instead,"

I couldn't help but laugh at Lucas' infectious enthusiasm. We clinked our glasses together, the juice sparkling in the light, "To new friendships," Lucas exclaimed, warmly.

I echoed his toast, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him, "To new friendships!" As we drank our juice, our laughter filled the room, and for a moment, I forgot about my troubles, basking in the joy of this newfound connection.

I snuck back to Jericho's room, hoping to avoid him. Luckily, he was nowhere to be found. I let out a sigh of relief as I entered the room and made my way to the bed.

As I lay back on the plush mattress, a smile spread across my face. I couldn't help but think about my conversation with Lucas. His charming smile and kind demeanor had captivated me.

"I wish he would stay away more often," I thought to myself, knowing it was a forbidden desire. Seeing Lucas again would be a risk, but I couldn't help the way I felt.

"If only I could see Lucas more often," I whispered, my heart racing at the thought. I knew the consequences of getting caught would be severe, but for now, I was willing to take that risk.

The ride to the library seemed to drag on forever. As we arrived, I realized the Lycan King's territory was vast, with sprawling cities under his rule. My own territory was minuscule in comparison.

When we entered the library, the manager hurried over to Jericho, barely acknowledging my presence, "Welcome, Lycan King," She said, looking at him keenly.

His gaze turned to me, in his usual unreadable look, "She's interested in working as a librarian. She has experience in the field," Jericho said, firmly.

The manager's gaze flicked to me coldly, "I'm afraid we can't accept her," She said, bluntly, making Jericho eyebrow rose, a hint of surprise on his face, "Why not?" He asked, sounding very neutral, but trying to control himself.

"She's...plus-size. We have certain standards to maintain," She stammered, and eyed me dangerously, with an aura of pride. My eyes widened in shock, hurt by her cruel words.

"Do you realize who I am? I can have you fired with a snap of my fingers," Jericho warned, and almost immediately her pride became useless, "P-please, my lord...forgive me. I swear, it was just a mistake," She begged, falling to her knees.

"A mistake? You think insulting someone's appearance is a mistake?" He repeated, using a fierce tone that carries supreme.

The manager shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face, "N-no. I'm so sorry," She sobbed.

"You'll accept her as your employee. And you'll treat her with respect. If I hear even a whisper of disrespect, you'll suffer the consequences," He growled, throwing hard daggers at her. The manager nodded wildly, agreeing out of fear, "Y-yes, my lord. I'll do as you say,"

I watched, frozen at the sight of everything, the manager cowered before him, giving a submissive appearance that was evident.
