"I'm having a weird feeling about this place", he thought while sitting on the bench at the bus stop. He wanted to leave, but he also paid for the bus ticket and wasn't going to let it go to waste, so " a little more waiting won't hurt me," he thought.
Just as he was going to the outskirts to pass some time, the footsteps of a person could be heard. He slowly turned his head to see who it was and an old lady in her sleeping gown and loosened robes walking closer to Carl with an unsettling creepy smile. Her eyes which was devoid of life and a sleepy eye where her iris kept falling down and fixing itself up again.
"Are you lost?" Carl asked in a suspicious and cautious tone as he watched every single movement of the lady. Hearing Carl speak, a look of surprise and amusement showed on her face. " A newborn wendigo that has already gained intelligence... This is interesting... very interesting", she said as she rubbed her chin and scrutinized Carl. Looking for anything else interesting about him.
"She knows I'm a wendigo. So is she some kind of monster hunter? Maybe I should run." he thought as he was weighing his options if running or not. He saw her as an old lady, so maybe he could take her on, he doubted.
Carl laughed at his thoughts. He had taken down a bear with ease; an old lady wouldn't even be a challenge.
Looking at his face full of suspicion and caution, she laughed before the tentacle attached to her neck wriggled its way to a view where Carl could see it.
"Come with me, young fawn," the lady demanded with the kind smile still on her face. Carl slowly turned around nonchalantly until he heard a scream. The lifeless eyes of the old lady were now full of fear and confusion as she kept turning her head. " where am I, the monster? The monster is coming. It has them all. P- please, please save us". She pleaded with fear in her voice before her eyes turned lifeless and her pupils rolled over.
Carl was going to run away before he stopped to think. "If I don't save her, would it affect my karma?". He couldn't rely on the system to help him gain karma points since it didn't even tell him how. Carl also knew that he gained karma by his actions having an impact on the world, but he wasn't sure saving this town would give him karma.
He stopped and turned to the lady and said, "Lead the way."
The monster was surprised by his actions. It momentarily lost control because of the distance but he wasn't expecting Carl to give up.
"A wendigo that shows affection for humans... You keep on giving me fun surprises. Do follow me. I have a proposal to make," she said with a devilish smile.
Carl was confused about the request but he didn't want to go with her. He had no clue about her or what she would do to him, but his instincts were screaming to him to run.
He was about to sprint out of the when the lady turned her back to lead the way. "Where do you think you are going?" the lady said as blood trickled down from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. "Bad things could happen to the humans if you leave". He was still going to leave since he was faster than the human body the tentacle was possessing but he stopped when he saw the pain in the old Lady's eyes as he knew she wasn't just a human mask moving around and she was still alive.
The eye monster was pleased by Carl's obedience and showed him that the human's lives were under his control and he better listen if he wanted to keep them alive.
"Kekekeke. Your love for humans was your own undoing. Now please be a dear and follow me."
As Carl followed it to a police station that was quieter than usual, what greeted him was the sight of people connected to tentacles; they watched him closely. All eyes were on him but it felt like just one person's gaze.
Heading inside the basement of the building, there lay a floating fleshy ball with eyes all over it and multiple tentacles at its bottom that connected to the controlled humans.

The system chimed in the moment he saw the mastermind of all this. "I have an offer to make you wendigo," everyone in the building said in unison.
