Chapter 44 - World Meeting

The grand hall of the United Nations building in New York stood as a beacon of global diplomacy and political power. Representatives from all corners of the world were gathered, each one eager to discuss the pressing issues of the age, ranging from economic crises to the rising tide of power struggles across nations. The world had entered a new era, and the atmosphere was tense with uncertainty.

Today's meeting, however, was not just about the typical concerns of politics. A global earnings call was set to take place, where top officials would announce their countries' financial standings, promising stability or revealing the cracks in the system. Everyone was on edge—no one knew exactly what to expect.

In the midst of the gathering, Gok, standing at the back of the room, was focused, his eyes scanning the crowd. Once a legendary player, now an elite guard, his task was simple: protect the president and ensure the safety of the world's most influential leaders. Despite the grandeur of the event, Gok knew that danger could lurk in the most unexpected places. His sharp senses and Temporal Swing ability were the only things that would stand between chaos and survival.

As the meeting commenced, a wave of applause erupted when the host introduced the first speaker: President Jung E-yan of Korea. He was known for his stoic demeanor and his role in leading the world to greater unity. But Gok had learned to never take things at face value.

The crowd quieted as the President began his speech, outlining the global economic strategies. He spoke of hope, resilience, and the future of the world in the face of crisis. Yet, as he continued, Gok's instincts flared.

Something was wrong.

The Attack

Without warning, a flash of motion at the far end of the hall caught Gok's attention. His senses immediately screamed danger. Before he could react, the room was plunged into chaos.

The lights flickered. The first gunshot rang out, deafening in the sudden silence that followed. Then, another—followed by screams. Five of the world's prime ministers fell, each one struck by a perfectly aimed shot to the head. It was over in an instant.

Gok's eyes narrowed as he instinctively reached for the hilt of his Infinite Blade, but he was not the only one prepared. The assailants had come for a reason—and they were organized. Gok's sharp eyes caught the movement of several figures in the crowd, all wearing masks and moving with military precision.

"The Funik Clan..." Gok muttered, his face tightening.

---

The Funik Clan

The Funik Clan was a shadowy organization known only to a select few. They were masters of assassination, subterfuge, and warfare. No one knew exactly who led them, but their reputation preceded them. Silent, swift, and deadly, they had managed to infiltrate every level of society across the globe—placing agents within governments, corporations, and even the military. Their goal was clear: world domination through chaos, and they would stop at nothing to achieve it.

Gok had heard whispers of them before, but he had never imagined their reach would extend so far. The deaths of five world leaders in the span of mere seconds was a clear statement of intent.

Gok's Counterattack

As panic spread through the hall, Gok swiftly moved into action. His mind raced. The Funik Clan had made their move. It was clear they wanted more than just chaos—they wanted control of the world's governments, and the assassination of the prime ministers was only the beginning.

Without hesitation, Gok activated his Temporal Swing. Time itself seemed to slow as he blurred across the room, avoiding bullets, and cutting down any assailants that dared to challenge him. His blade was an extension of himself, moving with the speed and precision only he could muster.

He reached the President's side, where chaos was already erupting. The security team was in disarray, trying and failing to neutralize the intruders. Gok motioned for the President to follow him, but President Jung E-yan's calm demeanor didn't waver.

"Go, Gok! Protect the leaders!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency.

Gok nodded once, then turned toward the remaining assailants. They were not only well-trained, but their coordination was uncanny. Every move they made seemed orchestrated, like a well-rehearsed play.

Gok swung his blade again, clearing a path for the President to escape.

But the assailants weren't just focused on the President. They were after something far more valuable.

The True Objective

A sharp, icy voice echoed through the room, amplified by a sudden surge of power.

"He is with us now, Gok. You cannot save him."

It was Funik, the leader of the clan, or at least the figurehead who had revealed himself to Gok. He was a man cloaked in dark robes, his face obscured by a mask that seemed to melt into the shadows around him. His presence was oppressive, a force of darkness that seemed to swallow the very light of the room.

Gok's grip on his blade tightened. "You..."

Funik laughed coldly, his voice like ice scraping against stone. "Do you really think you can protect anyone in this world, Gok? The Funik Clan controls everything now. The deaths of these leaders are nothing compared to the plans we have for the future. The world is ours to shape."

Gok's heart sank. It wasn't just about assassinating a few leaders—this was about shifting the balance of power on a global scale. The Funik Clan had taken control of not only the political leaders but also had their fingers in the highest levels of finance, security, and military power. This was only the beginning of a much larger game.

A New Battle Begins

Suddenly, the room was filled with the sound of explosions, and the walls shook. Gok felt the pressure rise as time seemed to stretch and collapse on itself. He moved, faster than the eye could follow, sweeping through the enemy ranks with his blade flashing like lightning.

His movements were calculated, precise, and deadly, but the Funik Clan was a different breed. The more Gok fought, the more he realized just how deep their influence ran. It wasn't just about brute strength—it was about manipulating the very forces of the world around them.
