Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The sudden music from a phone made this lady wake up this morning. She instantly looked for her phone, her eyes still closed. Unable to find it, she decided to wake up and sit on her bed, letting her phone ring nonstop.

7:30 AM

Crap

She mumbled—another day to be late for her work. Staring blankly at the curtain made her think about this guy; she couldn't resist taking a deep breath and getting off her bed.

The first thing she does is take a bath. Despite being late, she never thought of hurrying up and just enjoyed her cold shower. A few minutes later, she's done preparing, not even putting makeup on her face.

"Hui Soo"

She heard a sudden voice at her door. She sighed and continued combing her hair in front of the mirror. The door creaked, indicating that someone had just entered.

Hui Soo didn't even bother to look because she knew who was looking for her.

"What do you want now, Mom?"

Her mother, Ko Mi-Jin, wanders around her daughter's spacious room. Unlike any other entitled daughter of a wealthy family who likes a lavish life, Hui Soo stays simple and low-key in any way possible. She has never asked for money since she was a teen; instead, she worked hard for every penny she had.

"I heard you took down your father's invitation to the meeting of Ahn Young-Jae."

Hui Soo takes her phone and puts it inside her bag. She passes by her Mother and doesn't even dare answer her; she knows where this is going.

Mrs. Ko grabs her arm carefully to stop her from ignoring her. The old lady knows that her daughter hates it when they force her to meet a man they are planning to arrange for her future.

"It's just a business meeting; his family just wanted to meet our only child."

Hui Soo turned to her slowly with a frowning face.

"But I am not part of any business."

Hui Soo replied and removed her mother's hand.

"I am sorry if that was disrespectful on your part, but I don't want to associate with any business."

Mrs. Ko heaved a sigh and forced herself to smile.

"I thought you were dating Young-Jae; what's the big deal of meeting him now?" She asked, trying to soothe her.

"I don't know where you heard that, but we never," Hui Soo replied, leaving her mother inside her room.

The lady hurriedly walked downstairs and grabbed her car key inside her bag.

The weather is perfect today. It's sunny, but you can feel the cold wind. Hui Soo stops at the red light. She taps her index finger on the wheel while waiting.

She thought, "It is indeed difficult to be part of a family that expects you to follow in their footsteps." She loves her family, but her top priority is herself. For her, it is possible to live a fulfilling life without relying on her father's wealth. However, this young woman knows she is the only one her family is counting on to take over their business eventually.

"No one will decide whom I want to be with or what I want to become."  Hui Soo mumbled, ending her thoughts when the traffic light turned green.

Her workplace is not that far from her home; she eventually arrived at SJC News. Hui Soo is currently working as a senior team leader journalist in a top broadcasting industry. Some thought that she used her wealth to be a part of this company and even got promoted quickly, but her trusted colleagues know that she is a very smart and hardworking journalist.

"You arrive late," Mr. Kim Jin-Young said, the chief Journalist of SJC News.

Hui Soo bowed her head "I'm sorry Sir, I overslept" She honestly said.

Mr. Kim laughed softly at what she said, he just shook his head and handed over a paper "Since you are late, maybe you can take a look at this and give me feedback"

Hui Soo took the paper and carefully read it.

"Several deaths of soldiers?" She mumbled with disbelief "Sir!"

Hui Soo stood up from her seat, trying to call her boss but the man just entered his room.

Ms. Hwang, who is beside her, just kicks her swivel chair to get near Hui Soo "What is it?" She questioned.

Hui Soo handed the paper to her with a withering expression. Frustrated, she snatches her seat and hides her face.

"Are you going to disparage soldiers who lost their lives in an unexpected act of terrorism, out of all the current heated topics in this nation?" Ms. Hwang asked.

Hui Soo aggressively took the paper and walked towards the chief's office.

Everyone near her gathered around and started peeking through their table "Ms. Choi is something else" Her colleague mumbled while watching the two through the glass of the Chief's room.

"Even though she's mad, her beauty is still surreal"

"I wonder if she's together with that guy named, Young-Jae"

"Ahn Young-Jae? You mean the son of the Director of Changwon Builders?"

"Also, Grandson of K-Security"

"Wow, she's so lucky"

They stopped gossiping when Hui Soo left the room bent out of shape. Quickly as possible, they return to their seats and pretend that they did nothing.

"He's unbelievable" Hui Soo brings out.

"Why?"

Ms. Hwang went near her again, trying to gather information about what happened.

"Prepare for a meeting in ten minutes" Hui Soo instructed and grabbed the documents on her table before walking inside the meeting room.

Her team looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders.

"This is gonna be a hell long week"
