The tension in the lodge was really suffocating. The moment Kain, Lucia, and Kael had returned, it was clear that the pack had reached its limit.
Lucia could feel the shift. This was not just unease anymore. This was hatred, and at the center of it all was Clara.
She was waiting for them in the main hall, arms were crossed, her green eyes were burning with barely contained anger.
Several pack members was standing behind her—wolves who had once been very steadfast in their loyalty to Kain, but now watched him with uncertainty.
Kain barely had time to remove his cloak before Clara's voice was heard through the place.
"We need to talk. Now."
"Funny. That is usually my line." Kain arched a brow, his expression was cool despite the hostility coming from her.
Clara ignored that.
