A year has passed since I became a partner of our company by the approval of my boss. Things seem to be going on smoothly and I have gradually picked and pulled myself together piece by piece. I have worked so hard that it earns me the full trust and belief of my superior and he has no doubt to entrust every single thing in regard to the company into my care. My life has finally taken the turn I have been hoping and waiting for, and it is indeed a dream turning into reality for me. My parents could not be more proud of who and what their son has finally turned into. At least some level of respect can now be placed on my family's name when we are being mentioned. I am no longer the poor Jayden they used to know, now it's a different one altogether.
It is now time to go and spend some time with the family after some years of being away from them. Tis will mean much more than anything to then, to get to spend some time with their heroic engineer who did not only work as an engineer but also a recognized hero of a tragic event. I have gone to see my boss for a meeting he requested with me regarding some new partners that we have. Since I have been the one managing almost everything as long as the company is concerned, no deal passes by without my notice, and I always get to sit at the table with all our investors and partners to close all deals but it turning to be a different from the usual ones I always get. My boss lamented that our new partners have been wanting to have a meeting with him and he sees it to be a little bit of stress to him. Why will he be the one to attend such a meeting when he has a brilliant partner who is capable of closing all deals that he cannot even close. But these ones being new to the mining world, they have perceived that it would be more appropriate to meet the brain behind the company and would be my boss. He trusts me so much that he regards me as more capable than he is, so whatever it is that needs to be done needs to be done by me. Luckily, they want the meeting to be held in the city of my residence, I mean where my parents reside and this being so, it would be more convenient to have the maximum time that I need with them. I was in haste to take the deal as I could not wait to meet not only our new clients but also the people behind this successful young man.
My boss has handed over to me all the necessary documents needed for this deal, which includes all he names of our partnering companies as well as the field each of them is interested in. it was a really a bit honor for me, but I couldn't just pick them without at least being hesitant.
"You know I am new to all these cases but…", I said.
"No, you are not", he interrupted immediately.
"You are young, understanding, hardworking and most importantly very talented. You will get all done without any difficulties. These are the qualities I saw in you which made me entrust you with my lifetime investments", he added.
I was really overwhelmed to hear him say all this about me, and he reemphasized the reason he did not want to go to the meeting. He again says he does not want to get into any more stress at this age of his, and all he would want to do is take some time off and take care of himself. The most fascinating aspect of it all is that he addresses me as his son.
"I know Jayden my son will handle this easily for me", he said.
I could not hide it but always show my utmost gratitude whenever I hear him addressing me as his son. I also reaffirmed to him that I would do anything in my might for the welfare of the company and for him. Disappointing him will forever be the last thing to come to mind.
He gave me all the hints I will be needing for a successful meeting, and suggested I look up the company's profile on the internet and to be sure if they are genuine. Everything was going on well until he pointed out a specific company he urges me to give more priority to, and that company is Ermias father's company. I could not believe they are actually part of the companies I am to meet up with, and this starts to bring back all the memories I had almost forgotten about. I could not take my eyes off the name of their company while anger starts to rage from my eyes, but as the situation stands, I cannot bring out that anger because I am with my superior, my boss. After a few minutes of glancing at the company and with the thought that has clouded my mind, I respectfully handed the documents back to him.
"Mr. Kaan, I am sorry I cannot do this. I am sorry I cannot take this job. I would do anything or you no matter the consequences or the weight of the task, but please do forgive me because I cannot take this particular one", I said to him then took my leave immediately.
He watched me with a huge shock on his face without uttering a single word as my shadow slowly faded from his house. He could not understand the reason for me not taking such an important task which was drafted to bring fortune to the company, but I could not turn back until I finally disappeared from his sight.
Leo has been under tight supervision due to his unusual ailment, and his being accused of murder has worsened everything for him. Everyone makes sure he is always in sight so they can know what he is up to. He has been under medication as well to try to ease his situation. He has grown a bit aggressive ever since the incident happened and has since blamed himself for getting his sister in the situationship that she finds herself presently. His doctors seize to visit him any longer since they all think his situation isn't getting any better but rather worse.
"My dear, it's been five years now and every visiting doctors claims we are living the same situation that you are in as well, so let's not try getting on the nerves of each other and work on how to make things much easier for ourselves", his mother said.
Nia's father has been informed of a company dinner that was happening in the evening, but when Ermias got home and was asked about it, he said he had ruled out Nia's father's name and will prefer to go with his father instead. All this is happening because they have finally bought the company from Nia's family and that makes them the sole owners of the company. This being so makes Nia's family vulnerable to the wicked acts of Ermias's family, also making them the only why Nia's family could still afford the rich lifestyle they are enjoying. So, the earlier they realize and stay loyal as subordinates, the better things will continue to be for them.
Nia went to the bedroom to address Ermias for the disrespectful act he showed towards her father.
"Do you know what bothers me a lot, it is the fact that you think you can play my family as your puppet", she said to him.
"Do you really regret everything", he asked arrogantly.
Nia could not respond to his question because she knew what awaits her family if she answered with an unpleasing response to him, so all she could do is stay silent and allow him do as he pleases.
"You always seem to forget that this house is mine. Initially its yours but everything is documented in my name, similar as you", Ermias said with no iota of remorse.
"You father and mother are not part of this agreement, so as your useless brother. They are only getting the privilege of staying in this house all because of you, just because you wanted it, so do not ever forget that they live in this house only for your sake and nothing else", he added.
He also said to her that her family are beginning to act like ants and it's beginning to itch his hands, and if he gets fed-up of the itchiness, they will be on the streets with nothing in their pockets. Nia stood there as his words piece through the walls of her body cutting deep into her heart, but as long as Ermias is alive, then there is absolutely nothing to be done about the situation.
I have gone back to my apartment after leaving my boss's house with the deal on his table. My web history is getting filled with the name of Ermias and their company, as I saw him receiving several awards both internationally and locally in the name of their company. I could not believe their company is rated as globally accepted, while they are nothing but heartless and mean to their very own. Anger always takes over me when I think of him and their company. I could not stand it seeing his pictures with Nia standing next to him as his wedding wife, because I have this feeling that there is something wrong with their arranged wedding. I still kept the ring I bought which I had wanted to propose to Nia with, and all I wish is to use that as evidence when I come one on one with her.
I was going on the internet as I heard on the news, the name of Ermias, as he is being interviewed regarding his knowledge about the world of business. As the interview continued, he was asked what made him to be outstanding and different in the business world and I was eager to listen to what his answer would be.
"Well, Ermias, tell them how different you are let's see", I said to myself.
And as arrogant as he has always been, he replied that the only thing that made him differentiate from the others is the fact that he was born into this world. He continued by saying he tried to take the place that is not his.
"The difference between Ermias and the other is the fact he is born into this world. I try to take place that is not mine and I never flitch. This is not history about success, but it is only the fact that Ermias has to be where he is supposed to be", he said.
I nearly broke my television as I could not stand the arrogance that surrounded this guy, but all I could do it show them how different I can be without being arrogant and heartless as them.
