Nia has been offered a contract by a high-profile hotel and she has been working hard to make it one of her best works. She seems to be the one working harder by the day to get her family back on track. It is not surprising that she is working hard to be as independent as she is, but she loves what she does. No one expects her to be working for anyone since their social status is well known in the country, but as it stands, she would want to do everything in her might to get her family back. Money and luxury are no longer paramount to her.
She is a determined and flamboyant lady who cares less about what people think or say about her, but it's a whole different game when I come into the picture.
Her best friend has been the one helping her through this difficult moment and has exhibited to be a friend indeed in these times of need. She has been her bedrock and has always updated her on things she seems not to be seeing. As they were both in Nia's studio, she seems not to be looking so happy and looking suspicious of hiding something from Nia. Nia then told her to take a seat while they pondered on what seemed to be a bother to her. Her friend brought out her laptop with a newsflash indicting her husband, Ermias, being spotted outside with the human relations officer to his company. It was heartbreaking as she was watching the newsflash yet not being able to do a thing about it. No matter how hard she seems to worry about all the rumors she has been receiving about her husband, he cares less about it as he know she won't be able to do a thing in regards to that. All she has to do is keep mute and play the role of a wife as she is.
Nia went into her back and picked up her phone. She called her so called husband who is already laying almost naked in a hotel room with his mistress, yet showing no sign of humor, asking her why she is disturbing her peace at that time of the morning. She has already told him to live the kind of life he wants but with the condition he does not get them on all magazine covers or any blogging page out there. While she has agreed to comply with his conditions for their marriage, he sees no reason or the obligation to comply with hers. Even though it might hurt but yet she has no way out of this.
"I told you to live any life that pleases you, but do not force people to speak about us", she said.
"And what are they saying about us", he asks her.
"You could simply see that on any online magazine website you can find", she said to him.
"For whatever reason as to why we are married should be taken into consideration. You will also have to think about the reputation of our families too, clear?", she added.
As Nia is worried about the misconduct he is committing outside of their marriage, he says to her that he knows she is not saying all of these because she is jealous or whatsoever, but yet it does not concern her of what he choses to do with his life or how he choses to live, she should just look up to her own comfort and stop pestering his life. He says that then hangs up the call on her.
Aside being inconsiderate about the feelings of his wife and not having any sort of decency for their marriage, he again called his personal assistant to add the name of his mistress into the list of people supposed to attend a dinner he has organized at house of Nia's father. He then turned to his mistress and said to her that she is the most valuable thing he has in his entire life. This is a man who claimed to have always loved the Nia, who was the life of my life, and went to the extreme of framing Nia's brother of murder just to get her to himself. Yes, I said frame because I know he is capable of doing so.
I am still on my way and almost arriving to the city of my birth. Early as I had rejected the offer presented to me by my boss, Mr. Kaan, I had gone back to take the deal and accepting to attend all preliminary meetings arranged with all our clients. I have done all the necessary research about Ermias's company and will gladly meet up with them and see the way forward.
Everyone was seated at the table waiting for my arrival. They have been debating about my experience and capabilities in the business, because they have been filled with the information that I am new into the business world. They also debating of me being a relative to Mr. Kaan but still decided not to give it that much of an importance. I have finally arrived at the meeting, and I greeted everyone seated as a sign of being polite and ready for business. Ermias is absent from the table but was represented by his personal assistant. That was a wrong gesture, for failing to show up on a very important discussion but his arrogance won't allow him to see the truth.
The meeting was supposed to consist of more company representatives but only four of us were at the table of negotiation. I asked for the reason why the number was reduced to just a few company representatives and as arrogant as Ermias is, his personal assistant was no different. He immediately said to me that the meeting was a special one and I was confused by those words.
"Does it mean we are only having this meeting with companies we assume to be huge?", I asked.
"We do not accept payment in small companies, and Ermias will always say, the one who is not considered a competitor is not accepted in calculations", his personal assistant says.
I disagreed with the saying of Ermias and the others, while I continued to elaborate to them that it is always impossible to predict who will become your competitor, and no company should be disregarded as far as this meeting is concerned. They insisted we continued with the meeting, but I stood up to my feet and told them I would not continue with the meeting if the others will not be given the respect they deserved. And I also told them I don't conduct ethical meetings in a way to favor or to put a company ahead of the other.
The statement I made had provoked Ermias personal assistant as it was going to reflect on his incompetence of simply pinning a newbie like me in the meeting.
"This meeting is a one chance for you, Mr. Jayden", he said to me.
"I would like to remind you of this on behalf of Ermias", he added.
"If you think I need a chance like this, then we can assume that Mr. Ermias needs it the most and not me. you should remind this to your boss when you meet him", I said to them and left the meeting rom without flitching or looking back.
I was sure this was going to provoke Ermias's pride and would definitely want to meet up with me if that is being said to him.
I have seen him several times, but I have not met him in person yet, and all I want is to meet him in person so I could execute my plans as expected.
I am indeed new to the business world, but I did not have to show any signs of weakness if only I wanted to be feared on the negotiation table.
On my way to my parents' house, I stopped by the shore to take in some air then my phone rang. It was Ermias who was calling. He communicated to me that it has reached his knowledge of them not being able to satisfy my desire at the meeting and would like to know what he can do to make things right. He immediately begins to offer me a deal which I told him not to make the same mistake that his representative who was his personal assistant made. I emphasized to him that things will not always go their way and that we are not in the same position. He arrogantly responded that we can never be of the same level, not to talk of being in the same place together, but he would like us to meet during the day while we get to know each other before proceeding with any sort of agreement between us. He then mentioned that his representatives will update me of the time and venue where we are meeting. He then hung up the call after saying that.
His arrogance always gets to my core and all I want is to eliminate him from the surface of the earth, but time will decide to do that.
Nia had attended the dinner, which was organized by her husband Ermias, which was taking place on another ship. There was a whole lot of fun going on, but Nia made it clear to him that since he has refused to adhere to her plights, then she will also draw the attention of the media towards him if he does not permit her to leave the party premises. She was then taken onto a smaller boat, and the captain drove her away from the bigger ship. As they were leaving the party premises, she begins to narrate to the captain of the incident that had happened on her birthday several years ago. She smiles as she told him that a man rescued her from drowning, and before she could finish with her statement, she was struggling again to free herself from the ropes that have tied her legs as she struggles to catch some air. And again, I am the hero who has saved her for the second time, but I did not let her see my face.
